Barkbusters handguards for adventure, enduro, and touring motorcycles
Who is Barkbusters
Barkbusters is an Australian brand by Rideworx Pty Ltd. It produces motorcycle handguards in two configurations that the manufacturer distinguishes and declares on each product sheet: the two-point mount, indicated for impact protection, and the single-point mount, indicated for protection from wind and weather.
On Endurrad, you'll find 164 Barkbusters items: 100 motorcycle-specific mounting kits, 10 complete handguards, 9 universal kits, 6 sets of replacement plastics, 3 lighting accessories, and 35 spare parts. The specific kits cover 217 model and year combinations across 21 brands: Aprilia, Bajaj, Benelli, Beta, BMW, CFMoto, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, Kove, KTM, Moto Guzzi, Royal Enfield, Suzuki, Triumph, Ural, Voge, Yamaha, and Zero.
How the range is organized
Mounting structure and protective plastics are two separate items. A bike-specific kit — codes BHG and BLG — contains only the aluminum structure, designed for the handlebar geometry of a specific motorcycle, plus the hardware. The plastics are chosen separately and remain interchangeable on the same structure, even later and in a different color.
- VPS: adjustable deflector in two positions, for adventure and touring.
- JET: compact profile, for enduro and mixed use.
- STORM: extended coverage, for road and winter riding.
- CARBON: carbon fiber plastics.
- SABRE: for motocross and enduro, with replaceable deflectors and end plugs.
- EGO: with multi-fit clamps, dedicated structure.
- BBZ: fabric handguards with waterproof membrane, can also be mounted over an existing structure.
- Aero-GP: single-point lever protection, for road and track.
Alongside the specific kits are the universal kits, where compatibility depends on the handlebar diameter and type — 22 mm, 25.4 mm, 28.5 mm, tapered or hollow — rather than the motorcycle model.
How to choose the right kit
Each product sheet shows the official Barkbusters compatibility table with make, model, and years. All three pieces of information are needed, not two: it often happens that the same model changes kit from one year to the next because the handlebar changes.
A concrete example: the Yamaha MT-09 uses the BHG-094 kit until 2020, the BHG-126 from 2021 to 2023, and the BHG-132 from 2024. Three different codes for the same motorcycle. If the model appears in the table but your registration year does not, the correct kit is a different one.
If in doubt, contact us specifying the model and year: we will check it the same day.
Assembly
The procedure is the same for all two-point kits and requires basic workshop tools.
- Remove the original handlebar weights and free the handlebar ends.
- Position the structure without tightening and check that it does not interfere with levers, controls, and cables throughout the steering range.
- Fix the inner point on the handlebar and the outer point on the end, leaving both loose.
- Mount the protective plastics on the structure.
- Tighten progressively to the torques indicated by the manufacturer, alternating between the fixing points.
- Recheck the tightness after the first 100 km and verify full steering freedom again.
On single-point kits, steps 3 and 4 are reduced to inserting the mounting body into the handlebar end. 93 references have the official Barkbusters PDF mounting instructions, linked directly in the product sheet with the specific code's tightening torques.
Manufacturer-declared limitations
Barkbusters declares compatibility for motorcycles in original factory configuration. On aftermarket handlebars, diameters and thicknesses change, so the mounting must be verified before purchase.
BHG and BLG kits are sold without protective plastics: they are only the mounting structure. Some applications have specific constraints — 22 mm handlebars, DCT and manual transmission versions, models without heated grips — listed line by line in the table on each product sheet.
The single-point mount is not designed for impact protection: the manufacturer declares this. Those seeking structural protection in a fall should opt for two-point kits.
