Compatibility, included items, installation, and documents: below is every detail verified against the official Barkbusters documentation.
The BHG-107 is the Barkbusters mounting system designed around the handlebar geometry of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R and the 1290 Super Adventure S from 2021 onward. It is a two-point mounting kit: the aluminum bar is anchored to the end of the handlebar and to a clamp on the straight section, forming a continuous loop around the hand. On a maxi enduro used year-round, it solves two different problems with the same component: a lever breaking in a stationary tip-over or a slow fall on light off-road terrain, and cold air hitting your hands directly in winter.
One thing to note before ordering: the protective plastics are not included. Barkbusters sells the frame and plastics separately, which benefits buyers because the plastics can be replaced over the years without touching the aluminum.

Protection and use
The wraparound frame is what does the real work: it protects the brake lever, clutch lever and switchgear from contact with branches, obstacles and the ground, absorbing the impact instead of transferring it to the lever. The plastics you mount on top determine the rest: JET plastics have a compact profile and are unobtrusive, VPS plastics have a deflector adjustable to two positions, STORM plastics provide more coverage and are the choice for winter travel, while CARBON plastics are made from carbon fiber.
On the 1290 Super Adventure, typical use is long-distance travel with stretches of gravel road, which is exactly the context in which a full handguard — frame plus plastics — is worth more than the sum of its parts.

The manufacturer states an open-ended range, with no final year: the most recent model years are also covered by the official declaration. This code is not specified for 1290 Super Adventure models before 2021, because the handlebar is different.
Barkbusters compatibility applies to the motorcycle in its original factory configuration. If you have fitted an aftermarket handlebar, diameters and thicknesses change, so the mounting must be checked before purchase. Contact us with the model and year and we will check it with you.
Installation
- Verify that you have a 1290 Super Adventure R or S from 2021 onward, with the original handlebar.
- Remove the standard handlebar weights: the ones supplied in the kit go in their place.
- Mount the clamp on the straight section of the handlebar, in front of the controls, without fully tightening it.
- Attach the aluminum bar to the end of the handlebar and to the clamp, then position it.
- Mount the plastics you have chosen, align them and tighten them.
- Check the throttle, front brake, clutch and free steering from lock to lock, then recheck the tightening after the first 50 km.

What is NOT included
The protective plastics. They must be ordered separately and are the visible part of the handguard: JET-003, VPS-203, STORM STM-003 or CARBON BCF-003. EGO plastics are not compatible with this frame.

I installed the JADO S6 on my BMW GS (non-"dedicated" version), and although I don't use the BMW base, the display and features are still top notch. The bag is of excellent quality and comes with all the necessary straps and a shoulder strap. The two methods of attaching it to the motorcycle are well designed and offer a range of options. I will also buy the larger model.
