Approval. Five of the eight models have documented ECE R149.00 photometric approval certified by a certificate: the L7S, the two dedicated L7 versions, the L12T, and the L18S. No R149 certificate is currently available for the L7X, L11, or L16, so no such approval is claimed for them on this page.

The controller is always included. Every LOBOO light comes with its own controller and wiring harness. The LC081 CAN-Bus controller and the clutch lever with integrated controller are control alternatives, not missing components.

LOBOO Motorcycle Auxiliary Lights: What They Are and What They Are For

An auxiliary light is an additional lighting device mounted on the handlebar, crash bars, or dedicated brackets that works together with the motorcycle's main headlight. It does not replace it; it supplements its coverage.

The difference compared with the main lighting is functional. The original headlight is designed to illuminate the road ahead of the vehicle within the photometric limits required for motorcycle approval. Auxiliary lights can help broaden the illuminated area to the sides or increase the beam's depth and range, depending on the optics of the chosen model.

For Adventure and Touring use, this translates into two different needs. On unlit country roads and gravel, where the road edges and lateral obstacles are just as important as the road ahead, a wider beam can make it easier to read the route. On long journeys, range matters instead.

That is why different models exist: they vary in optics, stated luminous flux, power consumption, approval class, and control system. There is no single best model; there is only the one suited to your primary use and the electrical capacity available on your motorcycle. The control is always included. All LOBOO auxiliary lights come with their own controller and corresponding wiring: for most models, this is the aluminum alloy ring installed near the clutch control; for the dedicated CFMOTO and VOGE versions, it is the switch included in the kit and connected to the original fog light circuit. There is no need to purchase anything else to turn on and adjust the lights.

How to read this table. The luminous-flux values are those declared by the manufacturer and refer to the pair of lights, not to a single unit. The most useful figure when purchasing is not the lumen count but the power consumption: it must fit within your motorcycle's system capacity margin.

How to choose LOBOO motorcycle auxiliary lights

Five factors determine which model is suitable for a specific motorcycle.

01 · Use

Primary use

Extra-urban night riding, off-road riding, or mixed use with frequent fog and rain. Models with variable color temperature — L16 and L18S — are the only ones in the range that let you switch to yellow without stopping to fit a lens cover.

02 · Electrical

System capacity margin

This is the most underestimated constraint. With both beams active, power consumption ranges from 120 W for the L7X to 210 W for the L18S. If the motorcycle already has heated grips, a heated jacket, or other permanent loads installed, the total must be compared with the alternator's capacity.

03 · Mechanics

Mounting point

The included collars generally fit 22, 25, and 28 mm tubes; 32 and 38 mm collars are accessories sold separately. The diameter must be measured at the exact point where you intend to mount the light, not generically on the handlebar.

04 · Controls

Control system

The switch is always included with the light. What changes is the type: an aluminum ring on the clutch control on most models, or a switch paired with the original fog light on dedicated versions. Alternatively, you can use a clutch lever with an integrated controller or the CAN-Bus controller that uses the original BMW rotary control.

05 · Regulations

Type approval

If the lights are used on public roads, check that the model has an ECE R149 photometric certificate. Be careful not to confuse Regulation R149, which concerns light-beam performance, with Regulation R10 on electromagnetic compatibility: these are two different documents, and only the former certifies the device's photometric compliance.

  • Make, model, year, and version of the motorcycle. Model years differ in their mounting points and, on BMW motorcycles, in the connector required by the CAN bus controller.
  • Tube diameter at the exact mounting point. The included clamps generally cover 22, 25, and 28 mm; dedicated clamps sold separately are required for 32 and 38 mm.
  • Presence of crash bars and their diameter. These are the most common mounting points for auxiliary lights.
  • Existing mounts and brackets, which may occupy the intended space or change the available orientation.
  • Electrical system and available power margin relative to existing loads.
  • Presence of a CAN bus and connector type, if you intend to control the lights using the original rotary switch.
