Barkbusters BHG-144 handguard mounting kit for CFMoto 700MT

The BHG-144 is the Barkbusters mounting kit designed for the handlebars of the CFMoto 700MT. It is the structure onto which Barkbusters plastics are mounted: on its own, it protects levers and hands from impacts; with the plastics, it also provides protection from wind, cold, and branches.

Protection and use

Barkbusters clearly distinguishes between the two mounting configurations, and the two-point setup, anchored both at the end and at the center of the handlebar, is the one the manufacturer specifies for impact protection. On the 700MT, a touring crossover, this means protecting the brake and clutch levers from stationary falls, stones, and branches.

Materials and construction

Heat-treated aluminum bars (manufacturer code BAR-V-069), CS-STD split clamps with a different connector for each side (CP4 and CP5). The manufacturer does not state the kit's finish or weight, so we do not report them.

Compatibility

* The manufacturer's catalog lists the 700MT from 2026, while the fitting instructions start from 2025. If your motorcycle is a 2025 model, contact us before ordering.

Do you have a CFMoto 800MT or 450MT? For these models, Barkbusters specifies the BHG-089.

The manufacturer specifies that fitment tests are carried out on standard motorcycles, with the original handlebar and windscreen in the factory position. With aftermarket or repositioned components, fitment must be checked before purchase.

Installation

Remove the original handguards and, if present, the stock handlebar weights. The handlebar must be in the standard position, with the long reference line aligned with the steering plate. Fit the clamp and connector without tightening them, secure the bar at the end and to the connector, and position it horizontally when viewed from the side. Tighten in the order specified by the manufacturer. Specified torques: 10 Nm for the M6 bolts and 28 Nm for the M8 bolts, using medium-strength threadlocker and checking the tightening after the first 50 km. Leave approximately 3 mm of clearance between the throttle grip and the handguard. Barkbusters recommends professional installation.
