Barkbusters BHG-141 handguard mounting kit for Voge 300 Rally, DS525X, and DS800X Rally

The BHG-141 is the Barkbusters mounting kit designed for three Voge motorcycles: the 300 Rally from 2023, the DS525X from 2024, and the DS800X Rally from 2025. It is the structure onto which Barkbusters plastics are mounted: on its own, it protects levers and hands from impacts; with the plastics, it also provides protection from wind, cold, and branches.

Protection and use

Barkbusters clearly distinguishes between the two mounting configurations, and the two-point configuration, anchored both at the end and at the center of the handlebar, is the one the manufacturer specifies for impact protection. On the 300 Rally, DS525X, and DS800X Rally, motorcycles that are well suited to riding on unpaved roads, this means protecting the levers from falls, stones, and branches.

Materials and construction

Aluminum bars (manufacturer code BAR-V020, the same shape as the BHG-140 in the non-black version), CFS-ADV-LR frame clamps, and BESF2 threaded inserts. The manufacturer does not state the finish or the weight of the kit, so we do not report them.

Compatibility

Do you have a Voge DS900X? The kit is the BHG-140.

The manufacturer specifies that fitting tests are carried out on stock motorcycles, with the original handlebar and windscreen in their factory positions.

Installation

Remove the original handguards and bar end weight, if fitted. Move the lever mounts as far outward as possible, taking care not to crush the switchgear cables on the clutch side. Fit the clamp without tightening it, secure the bar at the end with the threaded insert, bar end weight, and washer, align the clamp with the hole in the bar, and insert the bolt. With the bar horizontal when viewed from the side, tighten in this order: end bolt, bar bolt, then both clamp bolts together, to keep the gap even.

Specified torque values: 10 Nm for the M6 bolts and 28 Nm for the M8 bolts. The torque for the threaded insert is not specified in the instructions: follow the sheet included in the package. Use medium-strength threadlocker, check everything after the first 50 km, and leave approximately 3 mm of clearance between the throttle grip and the handguard.

• JET-003: compact profile, for unpaved roads and rally riding.
• VPS-003: deflector adjustable to two positions. It is being discontinued, and the price list indicates the VPS-203 as its replacement.
• STM-003, STORM series: more extensive coverage, for the colder months.
• BCF-003, CARBON series: made of carbon fiber.
