Everything you need to know before ordering
Compatibility, included items, installation, and documents: below is every detail verified against the official Barkbusters documentation.
The BHG-132 is the Barkbusters mounting structure designed around the handlebar geometry of the Yamaha MT 09 and MT 09 SP from 2024 onward. It is a two-point mounting kit: the aluminium bar anchors to the end of the handlebar and to a clamp on the straight section, forming a continuous loop around the hand. The bar is black powder-coated.
On a naked bike like the MT 09, handguards are not for branches: they protect against tipping over while parked, contact during manoeuvres and low-speed falls. Ordinary situations that cost you a lever and often the switchgear too.
If you have an MT 09, check the year
The MT 09 uses two different kits because the handlebar changes. This is the first check to make.

Main features

Protection and use
The wraparound structure protects the brake lever, clutch lever and switchgear: it withstands the impact and distributes it across the aluminium instead of leaving the lever to take it. The plastics determine the rest: JET handguards stay compact, VPS handguards have an adjustable deflector with two positions that can be removed in a few minutes, STORM handguards provide more coverage and are the choice for riders who use their bike in winter too, while CARBON handguards are made of carbon fibre.
Materials and construction
Heat-treated, black powder-coated aluminium bar, dedicated clamps and hardware. The manufacturer does not state the weight and dimensions numerically, and we do not estimate them. We will not speculate about the handlebar-end weights: the summary documentation does not specify them for this code, and the complete parts list is included in the official instructions supplied with this product page.

The manufacturer lists the range as open-ended, with no final year. Barkbusters compatibility applies to the motorcycle in its original factory configuration: an aftermarket handlebar changes the diameter and thicknesses, so the mounting must be checked before purchase. Installation
- Make sure you have a 2024-onward MT 09 or MT 09 SP with the original handlebar.
- Clear the handlebar ends of anything fitted as standard.
- Fit the clamp to the straight section of the handlebar, in front of the controls, without fully tightening it.
- Secure the aluminium bar to the handlebar end and the clamp, then position it.
- If you have chosen the plastics, fit them, align everything and tighten to the torques specified by the manufacturer.
- Check the throttle, front brake, clutch and free steering from lock to lock, then check the tightness again after the first 50 km.
The tightening torques and complete installation sequence are in the official INS-BHG-132-BK instructions, attached to this product page and supplied with the kit. The manufacturer considers handguard installation a safety-critical procedure and recommends having it carried out by a technician if you are not familiar with the work.

I installed the JADO S6 on my BMW GS (non-"dedicated" version), and although I don't use the BMW base, the display and features are still top notch. The bag is of excellent quality and comes with all the necessary straps and a shoulder strap. The two methods of attaching it to the motorcycle are well designed and offer a range of options. I will also buy the larger model.
