Description Barkbusters handguard mounting kit BHG-134 for Honda CB1000 Hornet SP from 2025 - black

The BHG-134 is the Barkbusters mounting kit designed around the handlebar geometry of the Honda CB1000 Hornet SP from 2025 onward. It is the aluminum structure that supports the handguards: it protects levers, controls, and hands in low-speed falls and tip-overs while stationary, and stays on the bike even when you change the plastics.

For this code, the manufacturer specifies the bar with a black powder-coated finish. On the Hornet SP, which has a dark livery with gold details, this is the finish that integrates best.

As with the entire range, the structure and protective plastics are two separate products: here you are purchasing the structure only, with the hardware.

Key features

  • Two-point mounting — anchored at the handlebar end plus a clamp on the straight section. This is the configuration the manufacturer specifies for impact protection.
  • Heat-treated aluminum bar, black powder-coated.
  • Specific to the SP version, the only version specified by the manufacturer.
  • Interchangeable plastics — compatible with JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON, each sold separately.
  • Made in Australia by Rideworx Pty Ltd.

Protection and use

On a 1,000cc naked bike, handguards are not there to protect against branches: they are there for what really happens. A tip-over while stationary in a parking lot, a low-speed slide on wet ground — in both cases, the first thing to hit the ground is the brake or clutch lever, and on an SP, levers, controls, and mirrors are not cheap parts. With an aluminum bar anchored at two points, the structure takes the impact.

Then there is winter: the Hornet has no fairing, and with the matching plastics, the same structure also becomes protection from the air around your hands. The single-point configuration, the other option in the range, only handles that second job: the manufacturer specifies it for wind and weather, not for impacts.

Materials and construction

Heat-treated aluminum structure, a process the manufacturer uses to increase strength and impact absorption, with a black powder-coated finish. The design wraps around the hand: it starts from the straight section of the handlebar, curves around the hand, and closes at the end.

Compatibility

Make Model Version Years Barkbusters code
Honda CB1000 Hornet SP only from 2025 onward BHG-134-BK

Compatibility specified by Barkbusters for motorcycles in original factory configuration. Aftermarket handlebars have different diameters and wall thicknesses: the mounting must be checked before purchase. Unsure about your model? Contact us with the model and year.

The Hornet name alone is not enough. This code is specified for the CB1000 Hornet SP. For the CB 750 Hornet from 2023 onward, the manufacturer specifies the BHG-109.

Installation

Installs on the original handlebar, with no drilling or modifications to the motorcycle. The handlebar end must be cleared as described in the official instructions.

Before fully tightening, check that the throttle, front brake, clutch, and engine stop switch operate freely and that the steering turns from lock to lock without interference. Check the tightness again after the first 50 km. The complete procedure and warnings are in the official INS-BHG-134-BK instructions, attached to this product page in the Manufacturer documents section.

What’s included

  • Two black heat-treated aluminum bars
  • Clamps for the straight section of the handlebar
  • Complete mounting hardware

What is NOT included

  • Protective plastics. They must be selected and ordered separately from the JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON series. EGO plastics are not compatible with this structure.
  • Handlebar weights. For this code, the manufacturer does not list them among the kit contents, unlike other codes in the range.

Why choose Barkbusters

Barkbusters is a brand of Rideworx Pty Ltd, an Australian company that has designed and manufactured motorcycle handguards since 1984. The range is built around a precise idea: the structure is motorcycle-specific, while the plastics are universal within the system. You buy the right structure once and then choose the protection you need, changing it if it gets damaged or your type of use changes, without replacing everything.

Why buy it from Endurrad

Endurrad supplies accessories for touring, adventure, and enduro motorcycles: compatibility checked against the manufacturer’s documentation, official instructions attached to the product page, and pre-purchase assistance if your model is unclear. Free shipping in Italy over €100 and in Europe over €250, 14-day returns, 1-year warranty. See the full Barkbusters range.

Why choose it
  • Protezione dagli impatti dichiarata.
  • Prodotto in Australia.
Who is it recommended for

Assembly and documents

  4. Fissa la barra in alluminio all estremità del manubrio e al morsetto, poi portala in posizione.

Protection on a 1000cc naked bike

  • The levers and controls of the Hornet SP cost a lot: the black bar keeps them out of trouble.
Black frame, no exposed aluminum

Black frame, no exposed aluminum

For this item, the manufacturer powder-coats the bar black, and states this clearly. On the Hornet SP, which is entirely black and gold, the structure doesn’t look out of place. The package includes the bars, clamps, and hardware: the protective plastics are a separate item.

The second point: the clamp on the handlebar

The second point: the clamp on the handlebar

The clamp closes around the straight section of the handlebar, in front of the controls. This is what turns the handguard into a cage around your hand: without it, the bar would be cantilevered from the end alone and would bend together with the lever in a crash.

On the Hornet SP, with VPS plastics

On the Hornet SP, with VPS plastics

In the official photo, the kit is fitted with VPS plastics, sold separately: a two-position adjustable deflector, useful on a naked bike that gets all the wind on your hands in winter.

Or with CARBON, made of carbon fiber

Or with CARBON, made of carbon fiber

The same bars with CARBON plastics. It is the most expensive series in the range, and on an SP with Öhlins suspension and dedicated finishes, it is the combination the manufacturer itself chooses to photograph. The structure is the same: the choice is yours, and it can be changed over the years.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

Are the protective plastic parts included?

No. Here you purchase only the black aluminum frame with the hardware. The JET, VPS, STORM, or CARBON plastics are ordered separately, remain interchangeable on the same frame, and can be changed to a different color even years later.

I have a non-SP CB1000 Hornet: is this kit suitable?

The manufacturer expressly specifies only the SP version. This does not necessarily mean it will not work on the base version, but since this is not stated, we cannot guarantee it: write to us before ordering and we will check with the distributor.

I have a CB 750 Hornet: is this kit suitable?

No. For the CB 750 Hornet from 2023 onward, the manufacturer specifies a different code, BHG-109. The name Hornet alone is not enough to choose the kit: the motorcycle changes, the handlebar changes, and the code changes.

What color is the structure?

Black. The manufacturer states that the bar is powder-coated black, and the code itself ends in BK. On a Hornet SP, which has a dark livery with gold details, it is the choice that integrates best.

Are the handlebar counterweights included?

For this code, the manufacturer does not list them among the kit contents, unlike other codes in the range where they are explicitly mentioned. Therefore, we should not assume that they are included: the official instructions attached to the product sheet explain how the handlebar end should be prepared.

Why put handguards on a naked sportbike?

For the same reason frame sliders are installed. On a naked bike, the risk isn't a branch: it's tipping over while stationary and sliding at low speed, and the first thing to hit the ground is the lever. On an SP, levers, controls, and mirrors are expensive parts. And in winter, without a fairing, the plastics reduce the airflow onto your hands.

What protective plastics can I mount on this structure?

Four series declared by the manufacturer: JET with a compact profile, VPS with an adjustable deflector, STORM with extended coverage, and CARBON made of carbon fiber. The official photos show the Hornet SP with both the VPS and CARBON. EGO are not compatible.

Do they significantly change the motorcycle's appearance?

Less than you fear, because the bar is black rather than polished aluminum. How noticeable it is depends on the plastics: the JET is the most discreet, while the CARBON is the most refined aesthetically. Look at the two official photos in the gallery before choosing.

Does the handlebar need to be modified? What if it’s aftermarket?

No modification is required for the original handlebar: it installs using the supplied hardware. Barkbusters states compatibility only for motorcycles in their original factory configuration: with an aftermarket handlebar, the diameter and thicknesses may differ, so the mounting must be verified before purchase.

What is the difference between two attachment points and a single point?

These are two configurations that the manufacturer distinguishes and does not combine. The two attachment points, as in this kit, secure the bar both at the end of the handlebar and to the straight section, and are intended for impact protection. The single attachment point is intended only for protection from wind and the elements.

What exactly is included in the package?

The two heat-treated, black-painted aluminum bars, the clamps, and the complete mounting hardware. The protective plastic pieces are not included: they are the item to pair with it.

Are assembly instructions available?

Yes. The official Barkbusters INS-BHG-134-BK instructions are attached to this product page in the Manufacturer Documents section, with the installation sequence and warnings.
