Everything you need to know before ordering
Compatibility, included items, installation, and documents: below is every detail verified against the official Barkbusters documentation.
The BHG-142 is the Barkbusters mounting structure designed around the handlebar geometry of the Yamaha XSR125 from 2023 onward. It is a two-point mounting kit: the aluminum bar anchors to the handlebar end and to a clamp on the straight section, forming a continuous loop around the hand.
On a 125 that spends its life in the city, the risk is not off-roading. It is tight parking spaces, tipping over while stationary, and a car's mirror in traffic. These ordinary situations can cost you a lever and leave the bike out of action, while an aluminum structure takes the impact instead of the controls. Then there's the wind: on a naked bike without a fairing, with the plastics installed, you can feel the difference from November onward.
Know this before ordering: the protective plastics are not included.
Key features
- Two-point mounting: the configuration specified by the manufacturer for impact protection. The single-point setup is stated to be for wind and weather protection only.
- Heat-treated aluminum bar: the treatment increases strength without adding weight to the structure.
- Natural aluminum finish, code NP, matching the XSR's retro styling.
- Four compatible plastic series: JET, VPS, STORM and CARBON, interchangeable on the same structure.
- Made in Australia by Rideworx Pty Ltd, which has been designing handguards since 1984.
Compatibility
| Make | Model | Years | Code |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yamaha | XSR125 | from 2023 | BHG-142-NP |
Take care if you have another Yamaha 125. The manufacturer specifies this code only for the XSR125: the MT-125 and R125 have different handlebars and are not covered by the stated compatibility. If you have one of these models, write to us with the model and year: if a suitable code exists, we'll point you to it; otherwise, we'll tell you.
The manufacturer states an open-ended range, with no final year. Compatibility applies to the motorcycle in its original factory configuration: if you have an aftermarket handlebar, verify the mounting before purchasing.
Protection and use
The wraparound structure protects the brake lever, clutch lever and switchgear: it withstands the impact and distributes it across the aluminum instead of leaving it to the lever. The plastics determine the rest: JET has the most compact profile and remains the most discreet option on a retro-style motorcycle, VPS has a two-position adjustable deflector that can be removed in just a few minutes, STORM provides more coverage and is the choice for winter, while CARBON is made of carbon fiber.
Materials and construction
Heat-treated aluminum bar, dedicated clamps and hardware. The manufacturer does not state weight and dimensions numerically, and we do not estimate them. We won't make claims about the handlebar weights: the summary documentation does not specify them for this code, and the complete parts list is in the official instructions attached to the product page.
Installation
- Check that you have an XSR125 from 2023 onward, with the original handlebar.
- Clear the handlebar end of anything fitted as standard.
- Fit the clamp to the straight section of the handlebar, in front of the controls, without fully tightening it.
- Attach the aluminum bar to the handlebar end and the clamp, then position it.
- If you have chosen the plastics, install them, align everything and tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque settings.
- Check the throttle, front brake and clutch, and make sure the steering turns freely from lock to lock, then check the tightening again after the first 50 km.
The tightening torques and complete sequence are in the official INS-BHG-142-NP instructions, attached to this product page and supplied with the kit. The manufacturer considers handguard installation a safety-critical procedure, to be entrusted to a technician if you are not experienced with this work.
What's in the box
- Two heat-treated aluminum bars, natural finish
- Complete clamps and hardware
- INS-BHG-142-NP installation instructions
What is NOT included
The protective plastics, which must be ordered separately: JET-003, VPS-203, STORM STM-003 or CARBON BCF-003. EGO plastics are not compatible with this structure.
Why choose Barkbusters
Barkbusters is a Rideworx Pty Ltd brand, an Australian company that has been producing handguards since 1984. On the XSR125, it brings the same system used on large adventure enduro bikes: a structure designed for the specific motorcycle and interchangeable plastics that can be chosen separately. If you change motorcycles one day, you change the hardware kit, not the idea.
Why buy it from Endurrad
At Endurrad, you'll find the Barkbusters range with compatibility verified against the manufacturer's official documentation, code by code, and the instructions attached to the product page so you can read them before buying. Free shipping in Italy over €100, 14-day returns, 1-year warranty. See all Yamaha accessories too.
