The BHG-138 is the Barkbusters mounting kit designed for the handlebar of the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE from 2024 onward. It is the structure onto which Barkbusters plastics are mounted: on its own, it protects levers and hands from impacts; with the plastics, it also provides protection from wind, cold, and branches.

- Two-point mounting: at the handlebar end and on a split-shell clamp tightened around the tube.
- Accepts JET-003, VPS-003, STM-003, and BCF-003 plastics, sold separately.

Protection and use
Barkbusters clearly distinguishes between the two mounting configurations, and the two-point configuration, anchored both at the end and at the center of the handlebar, is the one the manufacturer recommends for impact protection. On the 1200 XE, the Scrambler with the longest suspension and the most off-road-oriented setup, this means keeping the brake and clutch levers protected from falls, stones, and branches.
Materials and construction
Heat-treated aluminum bars (manufacturer code BAR-V044), CS-02 split-shell clamps with CP2 connectors. The manufacturer does not state the finish or weight of the kit, so we do not report them.

Do you have a Scrambler 1200 from another version or model year? For the 1200 XC and 1200 XE from 2019 to 2023 and for the 1200 X from 2024 onward, Barkbusters specifies the BHG-080.
The manufacturer specifies that fitment tests are carried out on standard motorcycles, with the original handlebar and windshield in the factory position. With aftermarket or repositioned components, fitment must be checked before purchase.
Installation
Remove the original handguards and, if present, the stock bar-end weights. Fit the clamp onto the handlebar without tightening it, observing the orientation of the machined rings on the split shells, then attach the bar to the end and to the clamp connector and position it horizontally when viewed from the side. Tighten in the order specified by the manufacturer: end bolt, bar bolt, then the two clamp bolts. Specified torques: 10 Nm for the M6 bolts and 28 Nm for the M8 bolts, using medium-strength threadlocker and checking the tightening after the first 50 km. Leave approximately 3 mm of clearance between the throttle grip and the handguard. Barkbusters recommends professional installation.

- Protective plastics. The kit is the structure only: the plastics are purchased separately and selected from those specified by the manufacturer for this code.
- Handlebar weights: the parts list includes only the end caps.
- Threadlocker and tools.

- JET-003: compact profile, for enduro and mixed use.
- VPS-003: two-position adjustable deflector, for adventure and touring. It is being discontinued, and the catalog lists the VPS-203 as its replacement.
- STM-003, STORM series: more extensive coverage, for road use and colder months.
- BCF-003, CARBON series: made of carbon fiber.

I installed the JADO S6 on my BMW GS (non-"dedicated" version), and although I don't use the BMW base, the display and features are still top notch. The night visibility is impressive, and the "X-Ray" mode, as they call it, makes evening riding much safer. The bag is of excellent quality and comes with all the necessary straps and a shoulder strap. The two methods of attaching it to the motorcycle are well designed and offer a range of options. I will also buy the larger model.
