There are three things to consider. The season, because in summer you need mesh and perforated leather to let air through, while in winter you need a waterproof membrane and insulation. Protection, meaning reinforcement on the palm and knuckles, which is what really distinguishes a sport glove from an urban one. And size, because a loose glove shifts on the handlebar, while a tight one tires your hand within half an hour.

Measure your size with a tailor's tape around the palm, excluding the thumb: that measurement in centimeters—not your jacket size—determines which glove you should choose.
