Description Barkbusters BTC-22 handlebar clamps with space for cables, 22 mm handlebar

The BTC-22 is Barkbusters' multi-fit clamp set for straight 22 mm handlebars, in the version designed to leave room for cables.

It is not a mounting kit

The manufacturer states this explicitly: no aluminum bar and no protective plastics. It is a component, not a complete system.

If you are starting from scratch, you need a complete mounting kit such as the BHG-001, or a complete handguard.

The problem it solves

On the straight section of the handlebar, inboard of the controls, cables, brake lines and cable ties often run. A solid-section clamp will not fit there, or will crush them. The BTC-22 has a shape that lets them pass through.

This is the reason stated by the manufacturer for this code's existence: the same size as the BSC-STD, but a different shape.

Why choose it
  • Prodotto in Australia.
Who is it recommended for

Assembly and documents

  4. Fissa la barra in alluminio al morsetto, portala in posizione e serra.

When the cables are in the way

  • Same size as the BSC-STD, different shape: lets cables and pipes pass through where a standard clamp would crush them.
Only the clamps, not the handguard

Only the clamps, not the handguard

The package includes the terminals and hardware. The aluminum bar and the plastic parts are not included. It is a component of the system, not the system itself.

Assembled: the cables pass freely

Assembled: the cables pass freely

Here you can see the clamp installed on the handlebar, with cables and hoses running alongside it without being pinched. That is why this code exists alongside the BSC-STD.

BTC-22 or BSC-STD?

BTC-22 or BSC-STD?

Same handlebar size, different shape. Look at the straight section toward the inside of the controls: if cables or brake hoses run through it, you need this one; if it is clear, the BSC-STD is fine, costs less, and also includes the bar ends.

Clamps and hardware. Unlike the other clamps in the range, for this item the manufacturer does not state that bar-end terminals are included: we prefer to point this out rather than take it for granted.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

What exactly does this kit contain?

Only the clamps for a 22 mm straight handlebar, in the version that leaves room for the cables, and the hardware. The manufacturer explicitly states this: no aluminum bar and no protective plastic.

Is this all I need to install the handguards on my motorcycle?

No. This is not a complete mounting kit: it is only the part that clamps onto the handlebar. The aluminum bar and plastic parts are also needed.

What is the difference compared with the BSC-STD, which is for the same handlebar?

The shape. Both are for 22 mm straight handlebars, but the BTC-22 has a design that allows cables and hoses to pass through: it is needed when the handlebar is crowded and the controls run close to where the clamp would go. The BSC-STD is the standard version and also includes bar-end plugs.

How do I know if I need the version with space for cables?

Look at the straight section of handlebar just inboard of the controls: if cables, brake hoses, or zip ties run through it and a standard clamp would crush them, this is the right version. If the section is clear, the BSC-STD is fine.

Are the handlebar-end terminals included?

The official product sheet for this code does not mention its inclusion, unlike BSC-STD, BTC-00, and BTC-06, which the manufacturer explicitly lists. We prefer not to assume it: if you also need the terminals, contact us and we will check with the supplier before the order.

So what is this kit used for?

To replace the clamps on a Barkbusters system you already have, or to solve an installation issue where the standard clamp does not fit because of the cables.

What do I need to buy if I’m starting from scratch?

Not this. If you don’t have anything yet, a complete mounting kit such as the BHG-001 is a good choice, as it already includes bars, clamps, and hardware, or you could go directly for a complete handguard.

Is my handlebar tapered or 28.5 mm: which code do I need?

For the tapered one, you need the BTC-06. For the 28.5 mm straight one, like the Renthal Twin Wall and the Barkbusters VSBar, you need the BTC-00.

I broke a clamp while climbing: can I buy just this one?

Yes, and that’s one of the reasons it exists. Replace the damaged part and keep the bar and plastics.

What does multi-fit mean?

The manufacturer calls clamps designed to adapt to different installation situations, rather than just one configuration, multi-fit. Here, the flexibility lies in making room for cables and pipes: the same clamp fits where a standard one would have no space.

Should I remove the counterweights?

It depends on how the system you’re installing is designed: the clamp attaches to the straight section of the handlebar, but the bar is also anchored at the end. If your kit includes a bar-end insert, the bar-end weights must be removed. The Barkbusters replacement is part number B-066.

Do I need to recheck the tightening after installation?

Yes. Barkbusters asks you to check the tightness of all screws again after the first 50 km and recommends using a medium-strength threadlocker on all fasteners.
