Last updated: September 9, 2026 — this guide is updated with every new official confirmation until the show opens.

EICMA 2026 opens its doors to the public from November 5 to 8, 2026 at Fiera Milano Rho, preceded by the press and trade days on November 3 and 4. It is the 83rd edition of the International Motorcycle Exhibition and, as every year, most of the attention is focused on a single segment: maxi enduros, crossovers, and Adventure bikes. The 2027 motorcycle novelties we will see in Milan range from the possible Yamaha Ténéré 900 to the Royal Enfield Himalayan 750, from the BMW M 1300 GS caught in spy photos to the Chinese adventure bikes that continue to lower the entry price.

This guide lays out everything that is genuinely known, explicitly distinguishing what is official from what is a rumor. No invented technical specifications: wherever a detail has not been announced, we say so.

Yamaha: the November 2 conference and the Ténéré 900 case

Model not announced (Ténéré 900 hypothesis)

Status: presentation confirmed, model not disclosed

What we know. On August 26, 2026, Yamaha sent out a press invitation for Monday, November 2, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., in Milan: the evening before the opening of EICMA's trade days. The invitation mentions a new model intended to redefine the standard and claims that the industry has followed the same pace for long enough. The attached image is an electrocardiogram trace with three peaks.

This is all Yamaha has communicated. There is no name, no engine displacement, and no silhouette. The word «Ténéré» has never been uttered.

Why everyone reads «three cylinders». Three peaks on a track representing a rhythm lend themselves to one immediate interpretation: three combustion events, therefore three cylinders. The interesting detail, however, is not the number but the spacing. The intervals between one peak and the next are not equal, and this changes the meaning of the message: the 890 cm³ CP3 that Yamaha has used for years in the MT-09, Tracer 9, XSR900 and YZF-R9 has a 120°-offset crankshaft and even firing intervals. An irregular-firing three-cylinder engine, on the other hand, would be a new engine, with a logic similar to Triumph's T-Plane: spaced torque pulses that give the rear tire time to regain grip between one useful phase and the next. Exactly the CP3's historical limitation off-road.

Yamaha Ténéré 700 in action on dirt
The Ténéré 700 currently in the lineup. The new model announced by Yamaha for November 2 has not yet been shown: at present, there is no image of that bike.

What we expect to see. If the interpretation is correct, the most logical candidate is a Ténéré larger than the 700, retaining its off-road focus - therefore with a 21-inch front wheel - and power close to 115-120 hp, which would put it up against the Triumph Tiger 900, the future KTM 990 Adventure and Honda Africa Twin. But the irregular engine also opens up other scenarios, from a large-displacement crossover to a completely different architecture.

The risk. The real technical issue is not power: it is weight and balance. The Ténéré 700 is loved precisely because it is essential. A Ténéré with fifty more horsepower and the electronics from the MT-09 risks becoming a different bike, not a bigger sibling. We will find out on November 2 at 18:00.

We dedicated a complete technical analysis to the teaser and its implications: Yamaha Ténéré 900, what the teaser really says about EICMA 2026. For those who already own the Ténéré 700, our 9 best upgrades for touring and the accessories for Yamaha Ténéré 700 collection remain relevant.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 750: the show's strongest confirmation

Royal Enfield Himalayan 750

Status: confirmed

What we know. It is the only Adventure novelty on this list for which there is a direct statement from a company executive. Royal Enfield CEO B. Govindarajan identified EICMA as the debut venue for the new 750 cm³ twin-cylinder platform, after a prototype explicitly described as unfinished was displayed in Milan last year, to be validated - in his words - from the customer's point of view before it could be considered ready for production.

What has changed over the past year. The motorcycle appeared in public at the Himalayan Base Camp in Ladakh, with the same Govindarajan in the saddle during high-altitude testing, and later in Brazil with tubeless spoked wheels and knobby tires. In August 2026, it was finally photographed by the MCN team near Royal Enfield's technical center in Leicestershire in a configuration that no longer looks remotely like a prototype: no camouflage, no data-acquisition instrumentation, and production-level panels and finishes.

Not one, but two Himalayan 750s. This is the most interesting detail to emerge from the latest images. The British example has alloy wheels and road tires, making it the more touring-oriented variant. Alongside it, an explicitly enduro-oriented version is expected, with 19" spoked wheels at the front and 17" at the rear and mixed-use tires. The two would share everything else, including the styling. The photographed example lacks handguards and mounts for panniers: these will most likely appear in the accessories catalog rather than as standard equipment.

Engine. Royal Enfield has confirmed the architecture - a 750 cc parallel twin - without disclosing power and torque figures. It is an evolution of the 648 cc Twin that powers the Interceptor, Continental GT, and Super Meteor, bored out to gain the horsepower and newton-metres needed to compete in Europe. Rumors suggest around 60 hp, compared with 48 for the current 650. The torque figure has not yet emerged, and that is what matters most on a motorcycle of this type.

Chassis. To accommodate the larger engine, a new tubular frame was developed that uses the engine as a stressed member, along with a completely redesigned exhaust - both to account for the new parallel twin's dimensions and to integrate the catalytic converter required for European homologation. Suspension consists of a Showa upside-down fork and a central rear shock absorber. The braking system features a twin front disc with Bybre calipers and a single rear disc. In the touring configuration, the low seat height and measured suspension travel point to a motorcycle designed more for road trips than serious off-road riding.

Equipment. The photographed example features a ride-by-wire throttle, with riding mode and cruise control switches on the right side of the handlebar. The rest includes a TFT display borrowed from the Himalayan 450, ignition with a traditional key, a two-level seat, a rear luggage rack, a metal chain guard, and full-LED lighting.

When and how much. All signs point to November 5, 2026, the first day EICMA is open to the public. There is nothing official on the price: press estimates place it just above 7,000 euros, based on the lineup's current positioning. It is an assumption, not a price list.

Why it matters. Because it moves Royal Enfield from an accessible niche brand to a manufacturer covering the heart of the European adventure market, where the Honda XL750 Transalp, Suzuki V-Strom 800 DE, BMW F 900 GS and Triumph Tiger 900 currently compete. And it does so with a cost structure that none of those brands can replicate.

Ideal audience: those who want a genuine touring motorcycle that is mechanically simple, without paying the premium for high-end electronics. For those who already have a Himalayan, the Royal Enfield Himalayan accessories collection brings together compatible protection and mounting equipment.

BMW Motorrad: the M 1300 GS is the real news

BMW M 1300 GS

Status: probable

What we know. At the end of July 2026, a German photographer captured a prototype covered with a sheet near BMW's development center in Munich. Its level of maturity is the interesting part: the M logo appears on the wheel rim, and the left valve cover features Motorsport colors. Details like these are not added to an early-stage test mule.

Wheels and chassis. The images show Metzeler Karoo knobby tires on a 21-inch front wheel (the 90/90-21 marking can be read by enlarging the shot) and an 18-inch spoked rear wheel. This is the detail that overturns expectations: in the BMW world, the letter M has so far meant sportiness on asphalt - M 1000 RR, M 1000 R, M 1000 XR - whereas here it indicates a GS geared toward serious off-road riding.

Engine. According to what has emerged, the 1,300 cc boxer remains essentially the same as the R 1300 GS's: 145 hp and 149 Nm. The prevailing hypothesis is that the focus is on weight - premium materials, titanium exhaust components, revised bodywork - rather than power. Some sources speculate that the M may forgo the larger fuel tank of the R 1300 GS Adventure in favor of the standard one, to contain weight and improve its distribution, and that it may do without the front and rear radar systems. These are interpretations of spy photos, not BMW statements.

BMW R 1300 GS in GS Trophy trim with knobby tires
The R 1300 GS in GS Trophy trim, currently in the lineup. There is no official image of the M 1300 GS: BMW has not yet announced the model.

Why it matters. Because for the first time, the top of the GS range would not be the most highly equipped model but the most capable off-road, directly competing with the KTM 1390 Super Adventure R and Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally. And because a lighter GS with a 21-inch front wheel is exactly the bike that a significant portion of GS riders have been asking for years.

The full analysis of the spy photos is here: BMW M 1300 GS, spy photos confirm the third GS.

BMW R 1300 GS model year 2027

Status: probable

What changes. Alongside the M, a second covered prototype appears in the same images, which German media say is the updated R 1300 GS. The engine, suspension and wheels do not appear to differ from the current model: it would be a mid-cycle update focused on styling, with a light color never seen before on the model. A further clue comes from BMW's color list for model year 2027, valid from August 2026: the R 1300 GS does not appear on the list, and an omission like this usually precedes a separate presentation. The same photos make the possibility of an R 1350 GS as early as 2027 less likely, as that would fall outside the usual schedule with which Munich updates the boxer. We have collected everything known about the topic in BMW R 1350 GS: what we know today.

If the rumors are confirmed, from 2027 the large-displacement GS family would consist of three versions: updated R 1300 GS, R 1300 GS Adventure and M 1300 GS. If you already own a GS, you can find our setup guides for the R 1300 GS and R 1300 GS Adventure, with the BMW R 1300 GS accessories and BMW R 1300 GS Adventure accessories collections.

The middleweight: F 450 GS and the F 600 GS project

Status: F 450 GS already in the lineup — F 600 GS: rumor

BMW F 450 GS on gravel
The BMW F 450 GS, unveiled at EICMA 2025: the gateway to the GS world for A2 license holders.

The F 450 GS is not new to this show: BMW unveiled it at EICMA 2025 and brought it to the test rides at the EICMA Riding Fest in Misano in May 2026. 420 cm³ parallel twin, 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm, Easy Ride Clutch, 21"/17" wheels, 860 mm seat height and a 13-liter tank. It is the gateway to the GS world for A2 license holders, produced in India with TVS. Our full article is here.

Above it, spy photos of a new mid-displacement twin-cylinder enduro have been circulating for months, which the press calls the F 600 GS: the project nevertheless appears to be at a very early stage, and there is no confirmation. We discuss it in BMW F 600 GS: what we really know.

ZXMoto 820X: the Chinese crossover that changed its role

ZXMoto 820X

Status: probable

What we know. At EICMA 2025, ZXMoto presented itself with a complete range, from the 820RR supersport to the four-cylinder 500 models, including an adventure prototype called the 820ADV. Nine months later, the same motorcycle reappeared in Chinese homologation documents under the definitive name 820X, with a configuration that clarifies its true ambitions.

What has changed compared with the prototype. The two stacked headlights have been replaced by a pair of side-by-side headlights beneath a much larger windscreen; the fuel tank, front fender, and handguards have been redesigned; an aluminum skid plate with a decidedly more robust appearance now sits beneath the engine. The frame, suspension, and braking system appear unchanged, however.

Engine. An inline three-cylinder engine displacing 819 cm³, which ZXMoto says it designed entirely in-house and which is also used in the 820RR sportbike. In the adventure model it has a milder tune: 85 kW, approximately 116 hp, with a homologated top speed of 220 km/h.

ZXMoto 450 Rally, rally bike in the ZXMoto range
The 450 Rally shows the extent of ZXMoto's off-road ambitions. The 820X, which is an entirely different motorcycle, has not yet been officially shown.

Chassis and wheels. A 19-inch front wheel with 120/70 R19 and a 17-inch rear wheel with 170/60 R17. Wheelbase of 1,575 mm. This choice defines the motorcycle: more road crossover than specialist adventure bike.

Weight. 218 kg in the simplest configuration, rising to 235 kg with side cases and an aluminum top case, which have also passed homologation.

Expected availability. According to early reports, it will be unveiled first in China, followed by its international debut at EICMA 2026 and market arrival in 2027. ZXMoto has not officially confirmed either the dates or the European price.

Competitors: Triumph Tiger 900, Suzuki V-Strom 800, Benelli TRK 902 Stradale, Voge DS900X. Intended use: sport touring with light off-road capability. Our dedicated article is here.

Hero Xpulse 421: the Indian adventure bike targeting Europe

Hero Xpulse 421

Status: probable

What we know. Previewed as a concept at EICMA 2024, the Xpulse 421 was spotted several times in 2026 during testing, most recently in Ladakh, on passes above 5,000 meters, alongside a fleet of Xpulse 210s and the Hero MotoSports team's rally bike competing in the Dakar. The level of camouflage remains high, but the visible components are production-spec.

Hero Xpulse 200 4V, small-displacement adventure bike
The Xpulse 200 4V, currently in the lineup. The 421 has only been spotted camouflaged: no official images have been released yet.

Engine. A newly designed 421 cc single-cylinder engine, liquid-cooled and paired with a six-speed gearbox. Hero has not released power or torque figures.

Chassis. Steel trellis frame, inverted fork, monoshock, and spoked wheels with a 21-inch front wheel. Elements seen on the prototypes include a color TFT display, full LED lighting, and a navigation mount.

Expected availability. World debut expected at EICMA 2026, with sales in India beginning in early 2027. Hero has not announced an official date.

Why it matters. Because the 400-500 cc segment is the fastest-growing in Europe, driven by the A2 license and a less muscle-bound idea of travel. The Xpulse 421 would go head-to-head with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure, and CFMOTO 450MT, all of which are already well established and available at dealerships.

KTM: the 990 Adventure is ready, but the stage is uncertain

KTM 990 Adventure

Status: rumor

What we know. Spy photos of the new 990 Adventure have been circulating for more than a year and show a motorcycle that is now fully defined. It is the successor to the 890 Adventure and revives a prestigious name, that of the twin-cylinder motorcycle that raced in the Dakar in the mid-2000s. The engine is the LC8c parallel twin of approximately 947 cc in its latest evolution, the same basis as the 990 Duke naked bike (123 hp in that application), adapted to the needs of a travel enduro.

What changes. It abandons the angular shapes of the 890 in favor of a more conventional design, with an integrated windscreen and compact headlight. The photos show a new banana swingarm that wraps around the header - the result of a redesigned exhaust system with a larger, lower muffler - and a new subframe that slims down the rear end. The wheel setup remains 21"/18".

When. No official date. KTM tends to unveil new models close to the start of the season, so the most plausible scenario remains a presentation in spring 2027, with a possible Milan appearance as a preview. It should be remembered that the Austrian company is emerging from a complex restructuring phase and a change of ownership to Bajaj, which has already postponed the release schedule several times.

New-generation KTM 790 Adventure

Status: rumor

Spy images show a 790 Adventure that is unrecognizable compared with the current model: new bodywork, a redesigned tank, revised chassis, and a confirmed technical platform. Here too, development is advanced, but there is no confirmation of the presentation venue.

KTM 1390 Super Adventure, side view
The 1390 Super Adventure, at dealerships since the beginning of 2026: today the top of KTM's travel enduro range.

What's already here. The 1390 Super Adventure in S, S EVO, and R versions arrived at dealerships at the beginning of 2026: an LC8 twin-cylinder engine increased to 1,350 cc with CAMSHIFT variable valve timing technology, 173 hp at 9,500 rpm and 145 Nm at 8,000 rpm, an 8-inch vertical touchscreen TFT display, and a valve-clearance inspection interval of 60,000 km. Our analysis is in KTM 1390 Super Adventure: what to expect; for equipment, the KTM 890 Adventure R accessories and KTM 790 Adventure R accessories collections remain valid, as does the guide KTM Adventure crash bars: how to choose well.

Benelli: six announced new models, two are Adventures

The two new Adventures with 21"/18" wheels

Status: generically announced by the brand

What we know. Benelli told the Italian press that it will bring six new models to EICMA 2026, including two Adventures with a 21"/18" wheel setup: one with a 450 cc engine and one of around 790 cc, the latter still to be confirmed. This is the first time Pesaro has announced a number before the show, and it comes after the separation of the industrial paths of Benelli and its subsidiary QJ Motor.

Why it matters. Until now, the TRK range that made the brand's fortune had stopped at 19"/17" wheels. A 21-inch front wheel means Benelli is entering the world of off-road-oriented adventure bikes for the first time, alongside the Yamaha Ténéré 700, Aprilia Tuareg 660, and KTM 890 Adventure R.

Benelli TRK 902 Stradale, front three-quarter view
The TRK 902 Stradale, presented at EICMA 2025: the starting point from which Benelli is moving toward the two new Adventure models.

The starting point. At EICMA 2025, Benelli presented the TRK 902 in two variants. The Xplorer has 19" and 17" tubeless tangential-spoke wheels with M+S-approved Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires, an aluminum skid plate, protection bars, and a standard center stand, 215 mm of ground clearance, and an adjustable windscreen; the Stradale uses 17-inch wheels. Both use the 904 cc Euro 5+ twin-cylinder engine rated at 95.2 hp and 90 Nm, a 20-liter tank, Marzocchi suspension, Bosch electronics with a bi-directional quickshifter, separately switchable ABS on both axles, traction control, cruise control, and TPMS.

Benelli TRK 902 fitted with aluminum cases
The TRK 902's options include a set of three aluminum cases, a dashcam, and rear radar with blind-spot detection.

The TRK 902 Stradale is listed at 8,790 euros, a price that shows just how aggressive the mid-range segment has become.

Honda: the supercharged V3 and the Africa Twin hypothesis

Honda V3R 900 E-Compressor, production version

Status: probable

Honda V3R 900 E-Compressor with supercharged V3 engine
The V3R 900 E-Compressor prototype shown at EICMA 2025. The production version is expected in Milan, but Honda has not announced any dates.

What we know. Honda showed the V3 engine concept at EICMA 2024 and the working prototype of the naked V3R 900 E-Compressor at EICMA 2025. It is a liquid-cooled 75-degree V3 three-cylinder engine with a displacement of 900 cc, topped by an electronically controlled compressor: an unprecedented solution on a production motorcycle that makes it possible to control boost independently of engine speed. Honda claims performance comparable to that of a 1,200 cc engine.

Because we are expecting it in Milan. In March 2026, design drawings were filed with the Australian intellectual property office and made public in mid-July. They show a motorcycle very close to the prototype, but with production headlight assemblies, mirrors, turn signals, and all the features required for road homologation. Honda has not announced any dates. The probability that the production version will appear at EICMA 2026 is considered high by the specialist press, but it remains a forecast.

Africa Twin with V3 engine: why people are talking about it

Status: rumor

What we really know. In 2026, Honda filed patents extending the electric supercharger's application beyond the V3: the architectures illustrated include a six-cylinder boxer, a V-twin created by removing one cylinder from the V3's front bank, and a parallel twin. The latter is what sparked the speculation.

Why the picture is more open-ended than it is being portrayed. The frame designed alongside the parallel twin resembles that of the NC750X, and nearly all interpretations have focused on that model. But patent drawings protect an idea; they do not depict a product: what Honda is safeguarding is the system's application to an engine configuration, not to a specific model. And in Tokyo there is more than one parallel twin: the other is the CRF1100L Africa Twin's 1,084 cc engine, producing 102 hp at 7,500 rpm and 112 Nm at 5,500 rpm.

The two possible paths. Two opposing scenarios are circulating for the next Africa Twin: the classic evolution of the parallel twin toward a larger displacement, or a switch to the supercharged V3. The figures being reported - around 125 hp, 125 Nm and 210 kg in adventure configuration - are not official and should be understood as journalistic projections. Honda has confirmed nothing, and it should be remembered that a supercharger fitted to the Africa Twin is an idea that has appeared in the company's patents since 2023 without ever reaching production.

In the meantime, the current range remains one of the strongest in the segment: our guide to which Africa Twin version is really worth choosing compares the standard and Adventure Sports models, with the Africa Twin accessories and Africa Twin Adventure Sports accessories collections. For the mid-size segment, there is the Honda XL750 Transalp accessories collection.

Moto Guzzi The Trip: the first Guzzi without a transverse V-twin

Moto Guzzi The Trip 457 / The Trip 500

Status: rumor

What we know. For months, sightings have been circulating of a Moto Guzzi prototype with a 457 cc parallel twin derived from Aprilia's engine - the same one used in the RS 457 and Tuono 457 - set into a steel tube frame, with a right-side-mounted rear shock absorber and chain final drive. In June 2026, the Piaggio Group registered the trademark “The Trip 500”. Production would most likely take place not in Mandello but in Baramati, India, where the Aprilia 457 models are already assembled.

Why we mention it here. Because the prototype spotted on the road appears to target a traditional, touring-oriented character more than a crossover with off-road ambitions, and because its potential "travel" version would be the first A2-licence-accessible Guzzi in decades. Debut expected at EICMA 2026, with sales starting in 2027. Nothing official.

Moto Guzzi Stelvio, large enduro with PFF radar system
The Stelvio is currently Mandello's only adventure model: shaft drive, a standard electric windshield, and front and rear radar.

What is already in the lineup. The Stelvio remains Mandello's adventure offering: a 1,042 cc 90° transverse V-twin, 115 hp at 8,700 rpm and 105 Nm, shaft drive, and a standard electrically adjustable windshield - a unique combination in the category - plus the PFF Rider Assistance system with front and rear radar, integrating Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Information, and Lane Change Decision Aid, with adaptive cruise control as an option. For 2026, Climbing Grey and Hiking Green colors were added.

Who has not revealed their cards yet

An honest guide must also say when there is nothing to report. As of September 9, 2026, there are no primary sources for these brands indicating any new Adventure models at EICMA 2026.

Ducati

Ducati DesertX with a 21-inch front wheel
The DesertX has already been renewed: available at dealerships since May 2026.

The DesertX has already been renewed: presented as a preview version at EICMA 2025, unveiled in detail in February 2026, and available at dealerships since May. It features the 890 cc V2 with IVT variable valve timing, 110 hp at 9,000 rpm and 92 Nm at 7,000 rpm, a 46 mm Kayaba fork with separate hydraulic adjustment on the two legs, 230 and 220 mm of travel, progressive rear linkage, an 18-liter polymer tank, and a fuel-free weight of 206 kg. 21"/18" wheels. There are no indications of further adventure models for Milan. Collections: Ducati DesertX accessories, DesertX Rally, Multistrada V4.

Triumph

The most concrete sign is an absence: the color update released in mid-2026 does not include the Tiger 900 and Tiger 1200, which generally foreshadows a model refresh. Hinckley, however, has an established habit of presenting new products outside the major shows, so their presence in Milan is far from certain. Collections: Triumph Tiger 900 accessories, Tiger 1200.

Aprilia

Aprilia Tuareg 660 with spoked wheels and knobby tires
The Tuareg 660, twice winner of the Africa Eco Race, remains in the catalogue, also in Rally version.

The Tuareg 660 — 659 cm³, 80 hp at 9,250 rpm, 70 Nm at 6,500 rpm, 18-liter tank — remains in the catalogue, also in Rally version. There are rumors of a larger-displacement Tuareg and an entry-level version with the 457, but no confirmation from primary sources. Collection: Aprilia Tuareg 660 accessories.

Suzuki and Kawasaki

No verifiable previews on the adventure front. Suzuki is rumored to be renewing the V-Strom 1050, but there is no solid evidence. Collections: V-Strom 800 DE accessories, V-Strom DL1050, Kawasaki Versys 1000.

The other Chinese brands

CFMOTO, Voge, Kove, QJMotor and Zontes will almost certainly be in Milan with their biggest-ever stands, but at present none of them has filed homologations for new adventure models intended to debut in Europe, unlike ZXMoto. Their current ranges are already widely available: CFMOTO 800MT-X accessories, CFMOTO 450MT, Voge 900DS, Voge 800 DSX Rally.

Does EICMA 2026 confirm the Adventure boom?

The short answer is yes, but not in the way the segment has grown over the past ten years. Looking at the list of expected new models, three trends are evident.

The return of the 21-inch wheel

For years, maxi enduros pursued comfort on asphalt, moving toward 19-inch wheels and road-oriented setups. The 2027 innovations are heading in the opposite direction: BMW is bringing the 21-inch wheel to the GS's most prestigious version, Benelli is adopting it for the first time, KTM is retaining it on the 990, and Yamaha - if the Ténéré theory is correct - would keep it on a motorcycle producing over 110 hp. It is a repositioning: the touring maxi enduro is a mature product, and growth is being sought where the motorcycle becomes a dirt bike again.

The middle-displacement class as the new center of gravity

Hero with the 421, Benelli with a 450, BMW with the F 450 GS already in its lineup, Royal Enfield with the 750: the center of gravity is dropping. The reasons are practical before they are philosophical - the A2 license, insurance costs, the weight to manage on dirt - and coincide with a younger audience and markets, led by India, where most demand is for engines under 500 cm³.

Technology splits in two

On the one hand, rider assistance radar systems - which Moto Guzzi has made standard on the Stelvio with the PFF, which KTM offers on the 1390 range, and which Benelli even offers as an option on an €8,790 motorcycle - are rapidly falling in price. On the other hand, the most radical innovations concern the engine: Honda's electric supercharger and, if confirmed, a Yamaha three-cylinder with an uneven firing order are attempts to achieve the performance and torque of a larger-displacement engine while reducing size and weight. It is downsizing, but applied to a segment that had previously endured downsizing rather than chosen it.

The Chinese factor is no longer a promise

In the €6,000 to €10,000 range, the CFMOTO 450MT and 1000MT-X, QJMotor SRT 700, Zontes 703F, Kove 800X Pro, Voge DS800 Rally, and DS900X now coexist. The ZXMoto 820X, with an in-house-developed three-cylinder engine derived from an engine that races in the World Supersport Championship, raises the technical bar even further. There is, however, one caveat regarding prices: Chinese figures do not carry over to Europe, because Euro 5+ homologation, duties, logistics, and VAT change them substantially, and ZXMoto has not yet announced European pricing.

What this means for buyers

That 2027 will be a year of more difficult choices, not simpler ones. Those looking for pure touring already have excellent options at dealerships today and no urgent reason to wait. Those looking for serious off-road riding, however, would do well to wait patiently until November: with the M 1300 GS, 990 Adventure, the new Yamaha, and the Benelli 21/18 models, the category of big-bore knobby-tire bikes could change considerably within twelve months.

Preparing an adventure bike for travel: the accessories that really make a difference

Whatever motorcycle leaves Milan, the travel setup always follows the same logic: first, what prevents damage; then, what lets you carry luggage; finally, what makes the hours in the saddle bearable. In that order.

Carrying capacity

BMW F 450 GS equipped with a soft side bag
A soft bag does not widen the bike's profile and, in the event of a fall, does not put leverage on the subframe.

The first choice is between hard aluminum cases and semi-rigid bags. The former offer better protection and can be locked, while the latter weigh less, do not widen the bike's profile, and in the event of a fall do not put leverage on the subframe. We wrote about this in how to choose motorcycle cases: aluminum or semi-rigid and in how to choose semi-rigid adventure cases. The catalog is organized into cases for adventure, enduro, and touring motorcycles, side cases, and rear and saddle bags.

Crash bar bags: the space nobody uses

They are the most underrated accessory on an adventure bike. They fill the space between the engine guard and the tank, keep weight low and close to the center of gravity, and provide the perfect place for tools, cables, and spare parts you need quickly. You can find them in crash bar bags; for those who want storage that disappears when empty, there are inflatable bags.

Protection

On a 220-250 kg motorcycle, a low-speed fall is enough to break an engine casing or radiator. The priority order is crash bars, radiator protection, headlight protection, and instrument protection. Handguards are also worthwhile on the road, not just against branches: the aluminum bar on Barkbusters is what saves the brake lever.

Auxiliary lighting

The stock headlights on adventure motorcycles have improved considerably, but they are still tuned for asphalt. A pair of auxiliary lights mounted on a specific mount completely changes nighttime riding on unpaved roads. The comparison of the models is in best motorcycle auxiliary lights 2026, while the range for systems managed by a control unit is DENALI Electronics.

Navigation and mounts

A phone used as a navigator on a vibrating motorcycle will break: you need a mount with vibration damping, not a clamp. The collection is motorcycle phone mounts, and the choice between a phone, a dedicated navigator, and a display with CarPlay is discussed in motorcycle navigators: how to choose one and best smart displays with CarPlay and Android Auto.

Comfort

It is the last item only in assembly order. On a long trip, the right kickstand, a seat cover that does not heat up, and correct hand positioning have a greater impact than twenty extra horsepower. The complete overview is in touring motorcycle equipment for safe journeys and in 10 mistakes to avoid when preparing a motorcycle.

What new motorcycles are expected at EICMA 2026?

In the adventure segment, the main expected models are the Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 (confirmed by the CEO), the Yamaha new model announced for November 2, the ZXMoto 820X, the BMW M 1300 GS, the Hero Xpulse 421, and the two new Benelli Adventure models with 21"/18" wheels.

Which Maxi Enduro models will be presented at EICMA 2026?

The only certainty is the 750 cc Royal Enfield platform. Yamaha has scheduled a presentation without saying which model it will be. The BMW M 1300 GS and KTM 990 Adventure are at an advanced stage of development but do not have a confirmed debut venue.

Which new Adventure models will arrive in 2027?

Based on the information available today: the Royal Enfield Himalayan 750, ZXMoto 820X, Hero Xpulse 421, the new KTM 990 Adventure, the two Benelli models with 21"/18" wheels and, in all likelihood, the BMW M 1300 GS. Most of these models are expected to be launched commercially during 2027.

Which crossovers will be presented at EICMA 2026?

The most concrete possibility is the ZXMoto 820X, with 19"/17" wheels and a road-oriented setup. Another possibility is a Moto Guzzi with a 457 cc Aprilia engine, which, according to some sightings, would have a more touring-oriented than off-road setup.

What is the difference between a crossover and a maxi enduro?

The most reliable distinction is the front wheel. A maxi enduro has a 21-inch wheel, often spoked, with suspension travel exceeding 200 mm: it is designed for off-road use and accepts a compromise on asphalt. A crossover has a 19- or 17-inch wheel, less suspension travel, and road-oriented geometry: it is designed for asphalt and accepts light off-road use. Engine displacement is irrelevant: the 819 cc ZXMoto 820X is a crossover, while the 420 cc BMW F 450 GS is a road-oriented enduro.

Will BMW present new GS models at EICMA 2026?

BMW has not confirmed anything. Spy photos from late July 2026 show two covered prototypes - the M 1300 GS and what would be the updated R 1300 GS - at a stage of development consistent with an imminent presentation. Some sources speculate that the facelift could debut as early as September 2026 and that the M could be commercially launched in spring 2027, but these are hypotheses that have not been independently verified.

Will Honda unveil new Adventure models at EICMA?

There is no indication of a new Africa Twin. What is likely is the debut of the production version of the V3R 900 E-Compressor, which is a naked bike: its importance to the adventure world lies in the engine, not in the motorcycle itself.

Which Chinese motorcycles will be present at EICMA 2026?

The presence of Chinese manufacturers is now well established: CFMOTO, Voge, Kove, QJMotor, Zontes, and ZXMoto have been exhibiting for years. The only new adventure model with technical documentation already filed is the ZXMoto 820X. As of September 9, 2026, there are no public homologations for other brands' new adventure models intended to debut in Europe.

Which Maxi Enduro models are most eagerly awaited for 2027?

In terms of technical interest and potential impact on the market: Yamaha's November 2 reveal, the BMW M 1300 GS, the KTM 990 Adventure, and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 750. The first three because of what they promise to do off-road, and the fourth for its balance of features and price.

Which Adventure bikes are best for touring?

For asphalt travel with luggage and a passenger, aerodynamic protection, range, seat comfort, and load capacity matter more than power. The Moto Guzzi Stelvio, BMW R 1300 GS Adventure, KTM 1390 Super Adventure S, and Benelli TRK 902 Stradale are built around this type of use. Among the mid-size models, the Honda XL750 Transalp and Suzuki V-Strom 800 offer a highly practical balance.

Which Adventure bikes are best suited to off-road riding?

Those with a 21-inch front wheel, long-travel suspension, low weight, and rear ABS that can be switched off. Today, that means the Ducati DesertX, Aprilia Tuareg 660, KTM 890 Adventure R, Yamaha Ténéré 700, Kove 800X Pro, and CFMOTO 800MT-X. In 2027, the list could grow with the BMW M 1300 GS and KTM 990 Adventure.

Which accessories should you choose for a maxi enduro?

The priority order is protection, luggage, lighting, navigation, and comfort. First, crash bars, radiator protection, and handguards; then panniers or semi-rigid bags, supplemented by crash bar bags to keep the weight low; then auxiliary lights with dedicated mounts; then an anti-vibration smartphone mount or a display; and comfort items last.

When will the new EICMA 2026 models be presented?

Most world premieres are unveiled during the days reserved for the press and trade visitors, November 3 and 4, 2026. Some manufacturers hold their own events in the days immediately before: Yamaha, for example, has scheduled its press conference for November 2 at 6:00 PM in Milan.

Do you need to book parking to go to EICMA by motorcycle?

No. Motorcycle parking is free at PM1, West Gate, on the ground floor. Note an important practical detail: the entrances are equipped with Telepass and UnipolMove systems, so anyone with a device installed on their motorcycle must deactivate or shield it before entering to avoid automatic charges.

Will this guide be updated?

Yes. Every time a manufacturer officially confirms a model, the corresponding row in the table changes status from 🔵 or 🟡 to 🟢, and the entry is rewritten with the declared data. The date at the top of the article indicates the latest update.
