Description LOBOO Wanderer BHGB05T Inflatable Motorcycle Bags for Crash Bars – Pair

A gap remains between the engine guards and the sides of the motorcycle that no rigid pannier can use. The LOBOO Wanderer BHGB05T inflatable motorcycle bags adapt to that irregular shape and turn it into useful storage: 6 liters per bag, 12 liters for the pair. The structure comes not from a rigid shell but from the bag itself, which is a sealed air chamber.

How inflatable motorcycle bags work

An inflatable motorcycle bag works opposite to a pannier: instead of imposing its own shape on the motorcycle, it takes the shape of the available space. When deflated, the BHGB05T remains semi-rigid and stands upright on its own, so it is easy to fill and close. Inflated through the integrated one-way valve, it becomes an elastic cushion that fills the gap between the tube and the fairing and secures itself to the bars without play.

The manufacturer states a load capacity of at least 300 kg per inflated bag and a protection duration of at least 6 hours per inflation. In the event of a slide, this volume of air is the first thing working between the bar and the ground. It is supplementary passive protection, not an approved safety device: it does not replace engine guards or protective clothing.

The practical advantage comes at the end of the trip: they deflate, can be stored away, and the motorcycle is back to its clean appearance. There is no permanent bulk every day, which is the main reason to choose an inflatable bag instead of a rigid one.

What fits in 6 liters

Six liters per side is the right size for the things you want within reach without opening the panniers: a puncture repair kit and mini compressor, rain gear, spare gloves, a headlamp or flashlight, documents and a wallet protected from water, a half-liter bottle of water with something wrapped around it. They are the external pockets adventure motorcycles lack.

Their position also makes the compartment quicker to access: standing beside the motorcycle, without removing anything or taking off your helmet.

How to measure the bars before ordering

There is no list of compatible motorcycles, because compatibility does not depend on the motorcycle but on the tube. The LOBOO manual specifies a round bar with a diameter of 25 mm as a requirement, and the mounting system works equally well on irregular, square, or triangular structures.

  1. Use calipers to measure the outside diameter of the engine-guard tube at the point where you want to mount the bag.
  2. If you do not have calipers, wrap a tape measure around the tube and divide the circumference by 3.14: a 25 mm tube measures approximately 78.5 mm in circumference.
  3. Make sure the selected section is clear for at least the width of the bag and that there are no obstructing welds or brackets.
  4. Check the distance from the exhaust and cylinder heads: the bag must not touch hot parts.

Crash bars are not included and must already be installed: they provide the anchoring structure. If you do not have them, Endurrad offers engine guards and crash bars for BMW, KTM, Husqvarna, Honda, Ducati, Aprilia, and other motorcycles.

Inflatable or rigid: when each is the better choice

An aluminium pannier offers more volume and a shell that protects against impacts and break-ins, but requires dedicated frames, stays on the motorcycle all year round, and increases its width. An inflatable bag costs less, does not require frames if you already have the bars, disappears when not needed, and makes use of space that would otherwise remain empty — but it holds only a few litres and its contents are not protected by a shell.

In practice, they are not mutually exclusive: the BHGB05T is the natural complement to a luggage set, not a replacement for it. If you are instead looking for a genuine, inflatable side volume, the LOBOO range offers the 23- and 30-litre Alps inflatable side bags, which mount on 18 mm side frames rather than on the bars.

Waterproofing, anti-theft protection, and details

  • Declared IPX7 rating — TPU fabric on an 840D nylon base and an airtight waterproof zip. The rating is declared by the manufacturer for the complete bag.
  • Primary keyed anti-theft feature — a stainless-steel cable passes through the zip slider and the strap eyelet, then locks into the buckle. It prevents the bag from being opened and quickly removed, but does not replace a main anti-theft device.
  • Five buckle positioning points, rotatable on its axis to compensate for the angle of the bars from one motorcycle to another.
  • Duraflex buckles on the straps and high-visibility reflective inserts on the sides, in the area most exposed laterally.

In the package

Complete pair (1 left bag + 1 right bag), 2 fastening buckles, 2 lock cylinders with clips, 2 keys, 2 M6×10 screws, a 4 mm Allen key, and an owner's manual. Crash bars and threadlocker for the M6 screws are not included.

Maintenance

The waterproof zipper is the component that determines the bag's service life. Always close it with the internal pressure equal to the ambient pressure: closing it while the bag is overpressurized strains the teeth and reduces the seal. Operate the slider by pinching it between your index and middle fingers and pulling it along the guide, and occasionally apply a silicone lubricant for zippers. Rinse with fresh water after use on salted roads and store the bags deflated and dry, without tight folds in the TPU fabric.

Usage limits

  • Pre-installed crash bars with 25 mm tubing are required; without them, there is no way to mount the bags.
  • The manufacturer does not state the weight, and we do not publish an inferred figure.
  • The stated 300 kg load capacity applies to the inflated bag in a static test; it is not a crashworthiness certification.
  • The manual included in the package is in English and Chinese; the Italian-translated procedure is on this page.
  • Always check that the bags do not touch the exhaust, cylinder heads, or handlebars at full lock, and recheck the fastening after the first few dozen kilometers.
Why choose it
  • They reclaim otherwise lost space: 12 litres total (6 L per bag) in the void between engine guards and side panels, which no rigid case can exploit.
  • They adapt to the shape of the bars: the inner tube fills the available space and the buckle can be positioned at five different points.
  • Zero bulk when deflated: at the end of the trip, they can be stored without remaining fixed on the motorbike.
  • Contents protected from water: TPU fabric on an 840D nylon base and a waterproof, airtight zipper, for an IPX7 rating declared by the manufacturer.
  • Passive protection in case of a fall: when the bag is inflated, the manufacturer declares a load capacity of no less than 300 kg.
Who is it recommended for

Mandatory requirement:engine guards already installed with a 25 mm diameter tube. The motorcycle model doesn't matter – the bar diameter and the presence of tubular attachment points do.

If you don't have crash bars yet, on Endurrad you can find LOBOO crash bars for BMW, KTM, Husqvarna, Honda, Ducati, Aprilia, and other motorcycles.

They are the right choice for:

  • those who travel on adventure or touring trips and want extra storage within reach without adding panniers;
  • those looking for a dry, lockable place for documents, tools, puncture repair kits, or rain gear;
  • those who use their motorcycle in the city and don't want permanent clutter every day.
Documents and manufacturer

Mounting Requirements

  • The LOBOO manual specifies that a 25 mm diameter round tubular engine guard is required. Measure the tube before ordering.
  • Engine guards are not included: they are the anchoring structure and must already be installed.
  • Tighten the M6×10 buckle screws to 12 N·m using the provided threadlocker.

Usage and Safety Notes

  • Ensure that the bags do not interfere with hot parts, especially the exhaust and cylinder heads, or with the steering at full lock.
  • Close the waterproof zipper with the internal pressure equal to the ambient pressure: overpressure in the bag damages the closure and reduces its lifespan.
  • The anti-theft system is a primary protection and does not replace a main anti-theft device.
  • Check the fastening before starting and after the first few dozen kilometers.
  • The load must not protrude beyond the limits set by the Highway Code.

How does it work, in detail?

An air cushion that stays inflated between the motorcycle and the road surface

An air cushion that stays inflated between the motorcycle and the road surface

Mounted high on the crash bars, the inflated bags create a durable cushion between the motorcycle and the ground. In a slide, that volume of air takes the impact first, before the load reaches the bar.

Meanwhile, they fill the irregular space between the bars and the side panels—space no hard case can use—and turn it into useful storage.

When not needed, they deflate and can be stored away, so they do not remain a permanent obstruction on the motorcycle. They require crash bars to be installed already.

Deflated semi-rigid, inflatable elastic cushion

Deflated semi-rigid, inflatable elastic cushion

Even without air inside, the bag maintains exactly the shape you see in the photo: it remains semi-rigid, does not flatten, and does not develop fold creases. It fills and closes while standing upright on its own.

The entire body of the bag is an airtight air chamber. Once inflated, its rigidity increases significantly: the bag becomes an elastic yet durable cushion that absorbs impact instead of giving way in the event of a collision or slide.

The manufacturer states that the protection provided by a single inflation lasts for 6 hours or more. At the end of the journey, the bag deflates and can be stored away: it does not remain a permanent obstruction on the motorcycle.

Actual dimensions: 23 × 33 × 10 cm

Actual dimensions: 23 × 33 × 10 cm

The manufacturer's dimensioned drawing states 230 × 100 × 330 mm per bag, including the inflation valve. These are the dimensions of an inflated bag: when deflated, its thickness is reduced and the bag flattens against the crash bar.

Before ordering, compare the 33 cm height with the clear section of your crash bar, and the 10 cm thickness with the space available toward the exhaust. LOBOO specifies that the measurements are taken manually and may have tolerances.

Only one requirement: 25 mm bars

Only one requirement: 25 mm bars

There is no list of compatible motorcycles: only the bars matter. The LOBOO manual specifies a required tube diameter of 25 mm, and the mounting system works equally well on irregular, square, or triangular structures.

Before ordering, measure the tube diameter of your crash bars. If it is 25 mm, the bags will fit; if it is different, the mounting system will not grip properly.

Five points to adapt to your geometry

Five points to adapt to your geometry

The mounting buckle can be positioned at five different points on the back of the bag and rotated around its axis. Changing the position and angle compensates for the different inclination of the bars from one motorcycle to another.

The lower straps then pass around the tube and can be adjusted in length, completing the attachment. The manual documents the sequence in four steps.

Installation in four steps

Installation in four steps

The manual documents four steps: choose the buckle position from the five available, tighten the buckle onto the bar with the M6×10 screw to 12 N·m using the included 4 mm hex key, pass the straps around the tube, and fasten them, adjusting their length until all slack is eliminated.

A medium-strength threadlocker is recommended for the screw; it is not included in the package. Recheck the tightness after the first few dozen kilometers.

The one-way valve, step by step

The one-way valve, step by step

The one-way valve opens by pressing the switch with one finger; repeatedly squeeze the built-in pump until the desired inflation level is reached, then close it by pressing the switch again. No external pump is needed.

The manual warns that any operation other than these will damage the valve. The manufacturer states that the protection lasts at least 6 hours per inflation: if the bag remains installed for a long time, periodic topping up is normal.

Airtight zipper with auxiliary pull tab

Airtight zipper with auxiliary pull tab

The closure is an airtight, waterproof zipper: together with the 840D nylon-based TPU fabric, it ensures the IPX7 rating claimed by the manufacturer.

Operate it by pinching the slider between your index and middle fingers and pulling it along the track. Applying silicone zipper lubricant occasionally significantly extends the closure’s lifespan.

Steel cable and keyed lock

Steel cable and keyed lock

The nylon-coated stainless-steel cable passes through the hole in the waterproof zipper slider, then through the eyelet on the strap, and finally engages with the housing of the locking buckle, where it is secured with a key.

With a single action, it locks both the bag opening and its detachment from the bar. The manufacturer describes it as a primary theft deterrent: it discourages opportunistic theft in the parking lot but does not replace a main anti-theft device.

Duraflex buckles and reflective inserts

Duraflex buckles and reflective inserts

The straps use Duraflex buckles, a standard component on technical outdoor equipment. It’s the kind of detail you notice only when it stops working, which is why it’s worth getting right.

The sides feature high-visibility reflective inserts: because they’re mounted in the area most exposed laterally, they help make the motorcycle visible at night and in traffic.

300 kg load capacity with the bag inflated

300 kg load capacity with the bag inflated

The manufacturer states that, when inflated, each bag supports a load of at least 300 kg (661.39 lbs). In the event of a sideways fall, the air volume acts as a cushioning element between the bar and the ground.

It is an additional passive protection measure, not an approved safety device: it does not replace either crash bars or protective clothing.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

Are crash bars required for installation?

Yes. These bags attach to the crash bars, which provide the mounting structure: without crash bars installed, there is nowhere to attach them. If you don’t have them yet, you can find LOBOO crash bars for BMW, KTM, Husqvarna, Honda, and other motorcycles on Endurrad.

What diameter should my engine guard bars have?

The LOBOO manual specifies a round tube with a diameter of 25 mm. The motorcycle model does not matter; what matters is the bar diameter and the presence of tubular attachment points. The mounting system works with bars of irregular, square, or triangular shapes.

Measure the tube with calipers or a tape measure before ordering: if the diameter differs from 25 mm, the buckle will not grip properly.

What fits inside a 6-liter bag?

Six liters per side is the space you want within reach without opening your luggage: a puncture repair kit and mini compressor, rain gear, spare gloves, a flashlight, documents and wallet protected from water, and a half-liter bottle. They are the external pocket adventure bikes are missing.

They are not suitable for rigid, angular objects of fixed dimensions: the bag takes the shape of the space between the bar and the fairing, so it works best with soft or compressible contents.

Does the price refer to one bag or a pair?

Per pair. The LOBOO BHGB05T package contains two bags—one left and one right—with all the mounting hardware for both. Each bag has a capacity of 6 liters, for a total of 12 liters.

What’s in the package?

The package contains: 2 bags (1 left + 1 right), 2 mounting buckles, 2 lock cylinders with retaining clips, 2 keys, 2 M6×10 screws, a 4 mm Allen key, and an instruction manual.

The engine guard bars are not included.

Are they really waterproof in the rain?

The manufacturer’s stated rating is IPX7, achieved with TPU fabric on an 840D nylon base and an airtight waterproof zipper closure.

To preserve the seal over time, the manual recommends closing the zipper with the internal pressure equal to the ambient pressure and operating it by pinching the slider between the index and middle fingers. A silicone zipper lubricant, applied periodically, helps keep it running smoothly.

How long does it take to inflate, and how much weight can the bag hold?

The manufacturer states that a single inflation provides protection for at least 6 hours and that the inflated bag has a load capacity of no less than 300 kg.

Inflate it by hand: open the one-way valve, repeatedly squeeze the integrated pump, and close the valve again. This is an accessory passive protection device, not an approved safety device.

Can they be punctured? And what if they deflate during the trip?

The body of the bag is made of TPU fabric on an 840D nylon base, not thin rubber: it is the same type of material used for motorcycle dry bags. Creating a hole requires a significant puncture, not normal rubbing.

If the bag loses air, the contents still remain inside and the bag stays attached to the bar: when deflated, it retains a semi-rigid shape, and the attachment does not depend on pressure. LOBOO does not include a repair kit in the package.

Can exhaust heat damage them?

Yes, and it’s the most important check before fitting them. The manual says to check that the bags do not interfere with hot parts, especially the exhaust and cylinder heads, or with the steering at full lock.

The buckle can be positioned at five different points and rotates on its own axis to move the bag where needed. If the header pipe on your motorcycle runs close to the bar, choose the highest position and check the clearance with the motorcycle hot before setting off. LOBOO does not specify a maximum operating temperature.

Which is better, inflatable bags or hard-shell suitcases?

They meet different needs. An aluminum side case offers more capacity and a shell that protects against impacts and break-ins, but it requires dedicated frames, stays on the motorcycle year-round, and makes it wider.

An inflatable motorcycle bag costs less, requires no frames if you already have engine guard bars, deflates and disappears when not needed, and makes use of space that would otherwise remain empty. In return, it offers limited capacity, and the contents are not surrounded by a rigid shell. In practice, the BHGB05T complements a set of cases rather than replacing it.

What’s the difference compared with the Alps inflatable panniers?

They differ in where they’re mounted and how much they hold. The BHGB05T is a pair of 6-liter-per-bag units that attach to 25 mm crash bars. The Alps are 23- or 30-liter panniers per side that attach to 18 mm side racks, so they replace a set of cases rather than supplementing it.

They share the same inflatable design, the stated IPX7 rating, and a capacity of 300 kg per inflated bag. If you already have cases and need quick-access storage, choose the BHGB05T; if you’re looking for primary luggage, consider the Alps.

What language is the user manual in?

The manual that LOBOO includes in the package is in English and Chinese. However, on this product page you’ll find the installation sequence, instructions for using the inflation valve, and instructions for using the anti-theft cable translated into Italian.

The original PDF can be downloaded from the Documents and manufacturer section, and the QR code on the cover links to the manufacturer’s installation video.

Is the product covered by a warranty?

Yes: all LOBOO products sold on Endurrad are covered by the 24-month statutory consumer warranty. In the event of a lack of conformity, we will handle the claim with the manufacturer.
