About Barkbusters
Barkbusters is an Australian brand owned by Rideworx Pty Ltd. It produces motorcycle handguards in two configurations, which the manufacturer distinguishes and specifies on every product page: the two-point mount, intended for impact protection, and the single-point mount, intended for protection from wind and weather.

How the range is organized
The mounting structure and protection plastics are two separate products. A bike-specific kit—the BHG and BLG ranges—contains only the aluminum structure, designed around the handlebar geometry of a specific motorcycle, plus the hardware. The plastics are selected separately and remain interchangeable on the same structure, even later and in a different color.

- STORM: extended coverage for road use and winter riding.
- CARBON: carbon-fiber plastics.
- SABRE: for motocross and enduro, with replaceable deflectors and plugs.
- EGO: with multi-fit clamps and a dedicated structure.
- BBZ: fabric handguards with a waterproof membrane; they can also be fitted over an existing structure.
- Aero-GP: single-point lever protection for road and track use.
Alongside the specific kits, there are universal kits, whose compatibility depends on the diameter and type of handlebar—22 mm, 25.4 mm, 28.5 mm, tapered, or hollow—instead of the motorcycle model.
How to choose the right kit
Every product page includes Barkbusters’ official compatibility table with the make, model, and years. You need all three details, not just two: it is common for the same model to use a different kit from one year to the next because the handlebar changes.
A specific example: the Yamaha MT-09 uses the BHG-094 kit through 2020, the BHG-126 from 2021 to 2023, and the BHG-132 from 2024 onward. Three different codes for the same motorcycle. If the model appears in the table but your registration year does not, the correct kit is a different one.

Installation
The procedure is the same for all two-point kits and requires basic workshop tools.
- Remove the original handlebar bar-end weights and clear the handlebar ends.
- Position the structure without tightening it and check that it does not interfere with the levers, controls, or cables throughout the steering range.
- Attach the inner mounting point to the handlebar and the outer point to the end, leaving both loose.
- Fit the protection plastics onto the structure.
- Gradually tighten to the torque specified by the manufacturer, alternating between the mounting points.
- Check that there is approximately 3 mm of clearance between the end of the grip and the handguard, so the throttle can close freely, and check the operation of the brake, clutch, and engine-kill switch.
- Check the tightening again after the first 50 km, as specified by Barkbusters, and check the full steering range again.
On single-point kits, steps 3 and 4 are reduced to inserting the mounting body into the handlebar end. Manufacturer-stated limitations
Barkbusters specifies compatibility for motorcycles in their original factory configuration. Aftermarket handlebars have different diameters and wall thicknesses, so fitment must be checked before purchase.
BHG and BLG kits are sold without protection plastics: they consist only of the mounting structure. Some applications have specific restrictions—22 mm handlebars, DCT and manual-transmission versions, or models without heated grips—which are listed line by line in each product page’s table.
Single-point mounting is not designed for impact protection: this is stated by the manufacturer. Anyone looking for structural protection in a crash should choose a two-point kit.
