Everything you need to know before ordering
Compatibility, included items, installation, and documents: below is every detail verified against the official Barkbusters documentation.
The BHG-019 is the Barkbusters mounting kit designed for the handlebar geometry of the BMW R 1100 GS, R 1150 GS, R 1150 GS Adventure and Yamaha XTZ 660 Ténéré from 2008 onward. It is the aluminium structure that supports the handguards: it protects your hands, levers and controls from branches, gravel and low-speed falls, and stays on the bike even when you change the plastics.
One important point, because it is the most common reason for returns: the structure and the protective plastics are two separate products. Here you are purchasing the structure only, with the hardware and handlebar weights.
Main features
- Two-point mounting — the bar is anchored at the end of the handlebar and to a clamp on the straight section. This is the configuration the manufacturer specifies for impact protection.
- Heat-treated aluminium bar — wraparound design, natural aluminium finish.
- Handlebar weights included — there is no need to reuse the original ones or buy them separately.
- Four motorcycles under one code — three BMW models with no year restrictions and the Ténéré from 2008 onward.
- Interchangeable plastics — compatible with the JET, VPS, STORM and CARBON ranges, each sold separately.
- Made in Australia by Rideworx Pty Ltd.
Protection and use
The two-point mounting is the configuration Barkbusters intended for more demanding use: the bar transfers the impact to the structure instead of the lever. On an R 1150 GS or a Ténéré used for touring and on dirt roads, it can mean the difference between a scratch and a lever bent in half halfway through the day, far from home. The manufacturer clearly distinguishes between the two configurations in the range: the single-point version, mounted only at the end of the handlebar, is intended for protection from wind and weather, not impacts.
Materials and construction
The structure is made of heat-treated aluminium, a process the manufacturer uses to increase strength and impact absorption. The design is wraparound: it starts at the straight section of the handlebar, curves around the hand and closes at the end. The finish is natural aluminium.

Compatibility declared by Barkbusters for motorcycles in original factory configuration. Aftermarket handlebars have different diameters and thicknesses: the fit must be checked before purchase. Unsure about your model? Contact us with the model and year.
Installation
Installation on the original handlebar, with no drilling or modifications to the motorcycle. The original handlebar weights must be removed because the structure mounts directly to the end of the handlebar, and the supplied weights are installed in their place.
Before fully tightening, check that the throttle, front brake, clutch and engine stop switch operate freely and that the steering turns from lock to lock without interference. Recheck the tightening after the first 50 km. The complete procedure and warnings are provided in the official INS-BHG-019-NP instructions, attached to this product page in the Manufacturer documents section.
What is included
- Two heat-treated aluminium bars
- Clamps for the straight section of the handlebar
- Complete mounting hardware
- Handlebar weights
What is NOT included
- Protective plastics. These must be selected and ordered separately from the JET, VPS, STORM and CARBON ranges. EGO plastics are not compatible with this structure.
- LED lights and other accessories in the range, which remain separate products.
Why choose Barkbusters
Barkbusters is a brand of Rideworx Pty Ltd, an Australian company that has been designing and manufacturing motorcycle handguards since 1984. The range is built around a precise concept: the structure is motorcycle-specific, while the plastics are universal within the system. You buy the right structure once, then choose the protection you need, replace it if it gets damaged or if your type of use changes, without having to replace everything.
Why buy it from Endurrad
Endurrad specialises in accessories for touring, adventure and enduro motorcycles: compatibility checked against the manufacturer's documentation, official instructions attached to the product page and pre-purchase assistance if your model is unclear.
