Description Barkbusters JET-003 compact-profile handguard plastics
The JET-003 is the pair of protective plastic shells from Barkbusters’ JET series. They mount onto an aluminum frame already installed on the motorcycle: it’s a way to refresh the system after a fall or a season riding through branches, or to change its color, without replacing the frame.
It is not a complete handguard. The package contains the two plastic shells and the four self-tapping screws for securing them. The mounting frame is sold separately: if you don’t have one yet, choose the specific mounting kit for your motorcycle or a universal kit.
Compact profile, more airflow around your hands
That is the difference between the JET and the other series. The JET does not have an adjustable wind deflector: the shell stays low and lets air flow through instead of creating a stagnant pocket around your hand. Barkbusters specifies it for dual sport, enduro, and trail riding, where wind protection matters less than ventilation and reduced bulk. If you’re looking for the opposite—more protection in winter—the series to consider is the VPS with adjustable deflector.

Plastic compatibility depends on the frame they are mounted on, not on the motorcycle model. Barkbusters states its compatibility for vehicles in their original factory configuration.
Colors
Eight catalog colors: black, blue, green, gray, orange, red, white, and yellow.
What is NOT included
- The aluminum mounting frame, which is sold separately.
- The wind deflector, which is not included in the JET series.
Installation
The plastic shells attach to the frame with two self-tapping screws per side, with no modifications required. Make sure there is approximately 3 mm of clearance between the end of the grip and the handguard so the throttle can close freely, and check the operation of the throttle, front brake, clutch, and engine cut-off switch before setting off. Barkbusters recommends using a medium-strength threadlocker and asks you to check the tightening again after the first 50 km.

I installed the JADO S6 on my BMW GS (non-"dedicated" version), and although I don't use the BMW base, the display and features are still top notch.
