The LOBOO L18S is the pinnacle of the LOBOO auxiliary light range: 21,000 lumens, six LEDs per light, and color temperature shifting from white to yellow without the need for lens covers.

ECE R149 Approved

Certified E57*149R00/08*1206, UN Regulation R149.00 Class B for right-hand traffic, with both dipped and main beams approved and the mark stamped on the body. Most aftermarket spotlights, however, are sold with the clause "for off-road use only."

Twenty-one thousand lumens, manageable

The dipped beam alone covers 5,000 to 16,500 lumens; with both main and dipped beams together, it reaches 21,000. For comparison, a motorcycle's original LED stops around 1,500.

The eight levels are what make this power usable: in the city or behind a car, you can lower it to the minimum instead of turning it off. Power consumption follows the intensity, from 50 to 165 W for the dipped beam and from 65 to 210 W with both beams.

From white to yellow, while riding

On other spotlights, yellow light is achieved with a lens cover that must be installed manually. Here, the color temperature changes electronically from 6000 K to 3000 K, across eight levels, by pressing and rotating the same ring that adjusts brightness. With fog coming and going, you don't have to stop.

Reflector, not just a lens

The L18S uses a cup reflector that distributes light more evenly across the illuminated area: less central hot spot, more real coverage of the roadway and edges.

One ring for everything

The aluminum alloy ring is installed on the clutch control. Press the main button to switch from dipped to main beam, rotate for brightness, press and rotate for color temperature. A dedicated button controls the passing flash.

Holding the horn for two-tenths of a second activates the warning flash, in addition to the three autonomous strobe modes.

Construction

Six non-replaceable LEDs per light, glass lens, entirely CNC machined aluminum alloy body with dissipation fins and IP68 rating. At 210 W, heat management is not a detail: the system automatically reduces power if the temperature rises, and the circuit is protected against reverse polarity and overvoltage.

Mounting

Multi-axis adjustable bracket. The included clamps cover tubes from 22, 25, and 28 mm; those for 32 and 38 mm are separate accessories, as indicated by LOBOO.

Who is it recommended for

L18S or L16?

These are the two LOBOO headlights with electronically adjustable color temperature. They differ in power and optics.

  • L18S: 21,000 lumens, six LEDs, and a cup reflector for more uniform coverage. Draws up to 210 W.
  • L16: 19,000 lumens, five LEDs, and a high-efficiency lens with a sharp cut-off. Draws up to 190 W and is more compact.

If your motorcycle's electrical system is already loaded with heated grips and a heated jacket, the 20 W difference matters.

Two accessories worth considering:

  • Q7 Quick Release Mount— detach the headlights without tools, with a key lock and waterproof connector.
  • LC081 CAN-Bus Controller— control the headlights from the original BMW Wonder Wheel. Tell us your model and year: the correct cable depends on the motorcycle.

Check the diameter of the tube at the exact mounting point: the included clamps cover 22, 25, and 28 mm; 32 and 38 mm clamps are purchased separately.

Installation and Use

  • Connect via relay with dedicated fuse, never branched from an existing circuit.
  • Check the electrical system margin: up to 210 W with both beams active is the highest load in the range, especially if you already use heated grips or a heated jacket.
  • Adjust the beam inclination so that it does not dazzle oncoming traffic: this is the most important check and the most often overlooked.
  • The approval concerns the device. The conditions of installation and use on the vehicle remain subject to the Highway Code.

The L18S is the top of the LOBOO range: six LEDs per lamp, true low and high beams, eight intensity levels and eight color temperatures, from cool white to yellow, all controlled by the same dial. It is sold as a pair, with the wiring harness, control unit, and switch already in the box, and is ECE R149 Class B approved: it is not one of those auxiliary lights sold with the “for off-road use only” disclaimer.

The L18S uses a cup reflector instead of just a lens. The illuminated area is more uniform: less of a hot spot in the center and more actual coverage of the roadway and edges.

It’s the difference you notice on hairpin bends and dirt roads, where you need to see to the sides, not just straight ahead.

Each headlight features six non-replaceable LEDs behind a clear glass lens. The glass does not yellow when exposed to UV rays and better withstands gravel thrown up by the front wheel.

The housing is made of fully CNC-machined aluminum alloy, with solid-machined cooling fins.

The low beam alone ranges from 5,000 to 16,500 lumens; with both beams, it reaches 21,000. A motorcycle’s original headlight delivers only around 1,500.

The number alone isn’t enough: it’s the eight levels that make this power usable. In the city or behind a car, turn it down to the lowest setting instead of switching it off.

The aluminum alloy ring attaches near the clutch lever: your thumb can reach it without releasing your grip, and an indicator shows the active level.

On the other spotlights, yellow light is achieved with a lens cover that you fit by hand: you stop, attach it, and put it back in your pocket when the fog is gone.

The wiring includes a cable that connects to the original horn control: holding it down for two-tenths of a second also activates the warning flash.

A combined audible and visual signal is much more noticeable than either alone. Three independent strobe modes remain available: alternating, simultaneous, and sequential.

There is a separate CAN-BUS LOBOO module that connects the L18S to the motorcycle’s electronics and lets you control it using the original Multi-Controller wheel, without adding anything to the handlebars. It synchronizes the low beam, high beam, and passing flash with the standard controls while retaining brightness adjustment on the wheel.

Three wiring harnesses are listed. The 4-pin harness covers the R 1200 GS and GS Adventure, R 1200 R, RT, and RS, R 1250 GS and GS Adventure, R 1250 R, RT, and RS, and F 850 GS. The 5-pin harness is dedicated to the R 1300 GS. The 8-pin harness covers the F 750 GS, F 900 XR, and the entire K 1600 series. If your BMW is not listed, the headlight can still be installed: use the included mounting ring instead of the module.

The housing is made of aluminum alloy with cooling fins machined into the part. In a 210 W LED light, the light you see depends on how much heat can escape: if it remains trapped inside, the driver reduces the current and the illumination drops. Aluminum conducts and dissipates heat much better than a casting or an engineering polymer.

That is also why a light like this weighs and costs more than a generic one with the same claimed luminous flux. In return, it withstands sun, vibration, and washing, and maintains over time the light output it promises on the first day.

The body is made entirely by CNC machining. This is not a catalog detail: tight tolerances are what keep water out of the lens and cable-gland housings—the points where an exposed light begins to fail after a couple of winters.

The headlight body and driver feature thermal control that automatically reduces power when the temperature rises: in summer, in stationary traffic where there is no airflow to cool them, this is what prevents permanent LED damage. It is a temporary loss of light, and as soon as you start moving again, everything returns to normal.

The electronics also include protection against reverse polarity, the most common installation error, and protection against overvoltage, which is not merely a theoretical possibility in a motorcycle’s electrical system.

IP68 is the highest rating on the scale: complete protection against dust and resistance to continuous immersion. Heavy rain, mud, and crossing a ford are no problem for the light housing, and the motorcycle can be washed without any special precautions.

The weak point of any auxiliary light is not the housing but the connections: take care of the connectors and route the cable away from hot parts. The manufacturer states that the product has passed repeated tests in bad weather while maintaining normal operation.

The bracket rotates on multiple axes and attaches to handlebars, crash bars, or dedicated mounts, with no drilling or permanent modifications to the motorcycle.

The included clamps fit 22, 25, and 28 mm tubes. Dedicated clamps for 32 and 38 mm are required and sold separately: measure the diameter at the exact mounting point, as the cross-section may vary along crash bars.

The included clamps fit 22, 25, and 28 mm tubes, covering nearly all crash bars and small frames currently on the market. The 22 and 25 mm bushings are included in the box; on 28 mm bars, the clamp tightens directly without a bushing.

For 32 and 38 mm tubes, different clamps are required, which LOBOO sells separately and are not included. Before ordering, measure the exact point where the clamp would sit with a caliper: on many bars, the cross-section changes along their length.

The L18S is the largest headlight in the range: 108.4 mm in diameter and 86.5 mm deep, with a height of 154.8 mm when the bracket is installed. These are the figures that determine whether it fits between the crash bar and the fairing without touching at full steering lock; on some mid-sized motorcycles, it is right on the limit.

The manufacturer's table states a 12–15 V DC power supply for combustion-engine motorcycles, an aluminum-alloy housing, IP68 protection, a color temperature ranging from 3000 to 6000 K, and the two operating modes: 50–165 W with 5,000–16,500 lumens on low beam, and 65–210 W with 6,500–21,000 lumens with both beams on. The dimensions were measured manually, so minor tolerances are normal.

The installation photos show the most common position on large adventure bikes: on the crash bars, level with or slightly below the original headlight, one on each side. This position provides the beam with the widest base and keeps the lights out of the path of flying stones.

Given the L18S's size, it is worth measuring the available space with the handlebars turned fully to both sides before ordering. If you are unsure about the mounting point on your motorcycle, send us a photo of the area and we will tell you whether it can support the light.

The LOBOO LC081 CAN-Bus controller connects the auxiliary lights to the motorcycle’s electronics. Three reasons why it changes everyday use:

  • No additional buttons on the handlebar: turn the auxiliary lights on and off and adjust them using the original Multi-Controller wheel, with your thumb and without letting go of the grip.
  • They follow the motorcycle’s lights: low beam, high beam, and passing flash remain synchronized with the factory controls, as if the auxiliary lights were original equipment.
  • Installation without cutting: it plugs into the original connector with the dedicated cable, with no wire taps and without touching the motorcycle’s wiring harness.

And it does more: independent control of the two lights, warning and flash modes activated from the original controls, and memory of the last setting. Choose the controller based on the cable: 4-pin for the R 1200 and R 1250 GS and K 1600 series, 5-pin for the R 1300 GS and GS Adventure, and 8-pin for the F 750, 800, 850, and 900 GS and F 900 XR.

Is the LOBOO L18S approved for road use?

Yes. The L18S has ECE approval E57*149R00/08*1206 under UN Regulation R149.00 Class B for right-hand traffic, with both dipped-beam and main-beam functions approved and the marking stamped on the housing. The complete certificate can be downloaded from the product page.

You are responsible for verifying the installation requirements set out in the Highway Code for your vehicle, starting with beam orientation.

How many lumens does the L18S really produce?

The LOBOO specification sheet states 21,000 lumens for the pair with low and high beams active together, and 5,000 to 16,500 lumens with only the low beam.

These values refer to the pair, not to a single headlight. For comparison, a motorcycle’s original LED headlight produces around 1,500 lumens.

How do you change the color temperature from white to yellow?

By pressing and turning the dial installed near the clutch control. The temperature changes from 6000 K white to 3000 K yellow across eight levels, while rotation alone adjusts the brightness.

It is an electronic switch: there is no lens cover to install or remove, so you can switch to yellow while riding when you encounter fog or rain.

What’s the difference between the L18S and the LOBOO L16?

These are the two LOBOO headlights with electronically adjustable color temperature. The L18S has six LEDs with cup reflectors, delivers up to 21,000 lumens, and draws up to 210 W. The L16 has five LEDs with high-efficiency lenses, delivers up to 19,000 lumens, draws up to 190 W, and is more compact.

If the motorcycle’s electrical system is already being used by heated grips or a heated jacket, the 20 W difference should be taken into consideration.

Measure the diameter exactly where you want to mount the lights: the cross-section of crash bars may vary along the tube. If you’re unsure, send us the motorcycle’s make, model, and year.

Does installation require modifications to the motorcycle?

No. The bracket clamps onto the tube with the collar and rotates on multiple axes, so it can be mounted on handlebars, crash bars, or existing brackets without drilling or permanent modifications.

The only work involves the electrical system. If you are not familiar with it, have the installation carried out by a qualified technician.

How much power does it draw, and can my electrical system handle it?

From 50 to 165 W in low beam and from 65 to 210 W with both beams active: this is the highest load in the LOBOO range. Power consumption follows the selected level, so at lower levels it uses much less than the maximum.

They must be connected through a relay with a dedicated fuse, never spliced into an existing circuit. If you already use heated grips or a heated vest, check your motorcycle's alternator capacity.

Can I control them using my BMW’s original control dial?

Yes, with the LOBOO LC081 CAN-Bus controller, sold separately. It allows you to control the lights using the original Wonder Wheel without adding switches to the handlebars.

The connection cable varies by model: send us the motorcycle model and year before ordering, and we’ll confirm the correct version.

Can they be quickly removed when I leave the motorcycle in the city?

Yes, with the LOBOO Q7 quick-release mount, sold separately. It has a keyed lock and a watertight detachable connector, so you can remove the lights without tools and take them with you.

It is also useful off-road, as it keeps the lenses from being exposed to branches on narrower sections.
