The LOBOO L12T is an ECE R149.00 Class C approved auxiliary lamp, certified E57*149R00/06*1143, with both dipped beam and high beam approved and 149R-001143 marking stamped on the housing.

That is the difference that matters: almost all aftermarket auxiliary lights are sold with the clause “for off-road use only”.

One optic for each beam

Many dual-beam auxiliary lights use the same LEDs behind a single lens, changing only the intensity. Here, the dipped and high beams have independent lenses and light sources: four LEDs per lamp behind separate optics, with a dipped beam featuring a clean cutoff that does not disturb oncoming traffic and a high beam designed for range.

15,200 lumens across eight levels

The aluminum-alloy ring installs near the clutch control and adjusts the intensity with your thumb without letting go of the grip. In town or behind a car, keep it at the minimum level without switching it off; full power is reserved for when the road is truly dark. When battery voltage drops below 11.5 V, the lamp automatically steps down to the sixth level to avoid draining the electrical system.

In addition to the two beams, there are four flashing modes: alternating left and right, simultaneous, intermittent, and horn-controlled. Power consumption is 80 W with the dipped beam and 150 W with both beams active.

White or yellow

The two yellow lens covers are included and removable: they shift the light from 6000 K white to 3000 K yellow, which penetrates better in rain and fog, where white light creates glare from water droplets. They also protect the lens from gravel thrown up by the front wheel. However, the certificate’s colorimetric measurements refer to white light.

Flexible mounting

The housing has three mounting holes — top, bottom, and rear — and the bracket rotates on multiple axes, allowing the lamp to be aimed in any position. The included clamps fit tubes measuring 22, 25, and 28 mm: the included sleeves are for 22 and 25 mm, while on 28 mm bars the clamp tightens directly. The 32 and 38 mm versions are separate accessories. The manual specifies mounting to the frame or crash bars and prohibits installation on the lower part of the fork legs.

L12T or L11?

These are two approved headlights with different settings. The L12T has a square body and separate optics for each beam. The L11 has a cylindrical body and is compatible with the LC081 CAN-Bus controller, which allows it to be controlled by the original BMW wheel.

Installation and Use

  • Connect the positive and negative directly to the battery, as prescribed by LOBOO: the yellow wire goes to an ACC line and the white-sleeved wire to the horn's positive terminal. Connecting them to other motorcycle wires is prohibited.
  • Verify the electrical system's margin: 80 W on low beam and 150 W with both beams active is a load to consider.
  • Route the cables away from the ignition coil and high-voltage components to avoid electromagnetic interference.
  • Adjust the beam inclination so as not to dazzle oncoming traffic.
  • The approval concerns the device. The conditions for installation and use on the vehicle remain subject to the Highway Code.

The L'L12T is ECE-approved in accordance with UN Regulation R149.00: both low and high beams are approved, with the marking stamped on the housing.

Many dual-beam spotlights use the same LEDs behind a single lens, changing only the intensity. Here, the low beam and high beam have independent lenses and light sources.

The result is a low beam with a clean cutoff that does not disturb oncoming traffic, and a high beam designed for range rather than widening the same beam.

It’s more useful than it may seem: in the city or behind a car, keep it at the minimum level without turning it off, and increase it when the road gets truly dark.

The package includes two yellow lens covers. When installed, they shift the light from the white 6000 K to yellow 3000 K, which reduces glare and improves visibility of the roadside in rain, fog, and snow. They can be removed and refitted without tools, so the choice is not permanent.

One clarification we would like to make: the colorimetric measurements in the type-approval certificate refer to the white light. The yellow lens cover is included with the product, but its verification is not included in the test report.

The housing has mounting holes on both the top and bottom, and the bracket rotates on two axes: you can mount the headlight wherever your motorcycle allows, rather than being limited to the position dictated by the mount.

The LOBOO LC081 CAN-Bus controller connects the auxiliary lights to the motorcycle’s electronics. Three reasons why it changes everyday use:

  • No additional buttons on the handlebar: turn the auxiliary lights on and off and adjust them using the original Multi-Controller wheel, with your thumb and without letting go of the grip.
  • They follow the motorcycle’s lights: low beam, high beam, and passing flash remain synchronized with the factory controls, as if the auxiliary lights were original equipment.
  • Installation without cutting: it plugs into the original connector with the dedicated cable, with no wire taps and without touching the motorcycle’s wiring harness.

And it does more: independent control of the two lights, warning and flash modes activated from the original controls, and memory of the last setting. Choose the controller based on the cable: 4-pin for the R 1200 and R 1250 GS and K 1600 series, 5-pin for the R 1300 GS and GS Adventure, and 8-pin for the F 750, 800, 850, and 900 GS and F 900 XR.

Is it approved for road use?

Yes. The L12T is ECE-approved under UN Regulation R149.00, with both low beam and high beam approved and the marking stamped on the housing. The full certificate can be downloaded from the product page.

You are responsible for verifying the installation requirements set out in the Highway Code for your vehicle.

Is the yellow lens cover approved?

We prefer to be precise: the two yellow lens covers are supplied with the product and lower the light from 6000 to 3000 K, but the colorimetric measurements in the test report on which the approval is based refer to white light. Yellow does not appear among the configurations tested.

In practice: use yellow only when it is truly needed, namely in dense fog, heavy rain, or snow, where it reduces glare and improves visibility of the roadside. It can be removed and reinstalled without tools, so it is not a permanent choice.

Which motorcycles is it compatible with?

There is no list of motorcycles because the light is universal: what matters is where you mount it. The included clamp fits 22, 25, and 28 mm tubes, so it works with crash bars, subframes, and mounts of those diameters. For 32 and 38 mm, clamps must be purchased separately.

The motorcycle's only requirement is its electrical system: 12–15 V DC, so it must be a combustion-powered motorcycle. If you're not sure whether you have a suitable mounting point, send us a photo of the area where you'd like to install them.

Which pipes do they fit?

The included clamps fit 22, 25, and 28 mm tubes: handlebars and most crash bars. The 32 and 38 mm clamps are sold separately.

The body also has mounting holes on the top and bottom, and the bracket rotates on two axes, so you can orient it according to the space available on your motorcycle.

Does installation require modifications to the motorcycle?

No drilling or cutting: the lights clamp onto an existing tube, and the only connection is electrical. The wiring connects to the battery terminals, with the yellow wire connected to an ACC positive so the lights turn off with the key, and an optional fourth wire connected to the horn if you want flashing from the original button.

The manufacturer recommends having the installation performed by someone familiar with the motorcycle's electrical system and warns that incorrect installation voids the warranty. The torque specifications are 6 N·m for the M5 clamp screws and 10 N·m for all M6 screws, with threadlocker included.

What torque specifications should I use?

Six N·m on the six M5×20 screws of the clamps and ten N·m on all the M6 screws: the two M6×30 and the two M6×25 screws of the rotating brackets, and the two M6×14 screws of the headlight housing. The 4 and 5 mm hex keys are included in the package together with the threadlocker.

The manual asks you not to fully tighten everything during the initial installation: fit everything in place, check the beam orientation, then apply the threadlocker and tighten, checking again after the first few kilometers. Unused mounting holes must be sealed with the included silicone plugs.

What is included in the package?

The pair of headlights with wiring harness, control unit, and switch; two clamps for 22, 25, and 28 mm tubes, with four 25 mm and four 22 mm bushings; the right and left supports; and two yellow lens covers.

The hardware is complete: two M6×30 screws and two M6×25 screws for the rotating brackets, six M5×20 screws for the clamps, two M6×14 screws for the headlight housing, with flat washers and shims, threadlocker, silicone plugs for unused holes, ten 150 × 3.8 mm cable ties, and 4, 5, and 6 mm Allen keys.

How is it controlled? Is a handlebar switch required?

The control dial is included and mounts next to the clutch control, secured with the supplied rubber ring. Turn it with your thumb to move up and down through the eight levels without letting go of the handlebar.

Use the same control to switch between low and high beam and access the four flashing modes. The light remembers its last operating state, so when switched on again, it resumes where you left off.

How much power do they draw? Can the motorcycle’s electrical system handle them?

Eighty watts with only the low beam on, and one hundred and fifty with both beams operating at maximum output. On a large adventure bike with a generous alternator, that is not a problem; on smaller motorcycles, it is worth checking the available capacity, especially if you already have heated grips or other accessories connected.

The headlight protects itself in two ways: thermal control reduces the power if the temperature rises, and when the battery voltage drops below 11.5 V, the brightness automatically decreases to level six. The eight levels also serve this purpose, so it does not have to run at full power all the time.

Can they be used in the rain or washed with a pressure washer?

The manufacturer states IP68, meaning complete dust protection and resistance to immersion: heavy rain, mud, and water crossings are no problem for the headlight housing, and the lens is made of glass, not polycarbonate.

With high-pressure water jets, it is still best to be cautious and avoid pointing them directly at the connectors: that is where problems begin, not with the housing. The manual also warns not to clean the lens while it is still hot and to use only water and neutral detergents.

What is the difference compared with the LOBOO L11?

They are two approved headlights with different setups. The L12T has a square housing, independent lens and light source for each beam, 15,200 lumens, and a yellow lens cover included.

The L11 has a cylindrical housing, 15,000 lumens, and is compatible with the LC081 CAN-Bus controller, which lets you control it using the original BMW wheel. If you ride a BMW and want that kind of integration, the L11 is the more straightforward choice.

What warranty do I have?

The purchase is covered by the 24-month legal guarantee of conformity, and we handle the claim with the manufacturer. LOBOO also adds twelve months of free component replacement from the date of sale for quality defects under normal installation and use conditions.

The manufacturer's coverage excludes damage caused by natural disasters and accidents, exposure to corrosive substances, improper installation, disassembly or modification of the product, and the use of non-original components. That is why it is advisable to follow the tightening torques and wiring diagram in the manual.
