Description Approved LED motorcycle auxiliary lights with low and high beams, 8 levels

The LOBOO L7S is not a generic auxiliary light: it is an ECE R149.00 Class C approved projector, certified E57*149R00/06*1142, with both low beam and high beam approved and marked on the body.

This is the difference that counts: almost all aftermarket spotlights are sold for off-road use only.

Eight levels, adjustable while riding

An aluminum ring is installed near the clutch control: the thumb reaches it without releasing the grip, and an indicator shows the active level. In the city or behind another vehicle, you maintain a low level without turning it off, and raise it when the road gets dark.

One body, three functions

  • Low beam — sharp cutoff, does not disturb oncoming traffic
  • High beam — over 32,500 cd of certified intensity
  • Flashing — three modes: alternate, simultaneous, and sequential

By connecting the dedicated cable to the original horn control, you honk and flash at the same time: an audible and visual signal together is much more noticeable than just one.

Built to withstand the elements

IP68, CNC machined aluminum alloy body, glass lens. Intelligent thermal protection automatically reduces power if the temperature rises too high, and the circuit is protected against reverse polarity and overvoltage.

White or yellow, both approved

The yellow lens cover is supplied and removable. Yellow helps in fog and rain, where it reduces the glare that white light produces on water particles. White 6000K, yellow 3000K.

Universal mounting

The included collar is compatible with 22, 25, and 28 mm tubes, thanks to the reduction shells included in the kit. For 32 and 38 mm tubes, dedicated collars are required, sold separately. Angle adjustment is multi-axis: handlebars, engine guards, dedicated brackets. 12 V power supply, 80 W in low beam and 150 W with both beams active.

Who is it recommended for

Check before ordering

  • Tube diameter: the mounts cover 22, 25, 28, 32 and 38 mm. Measure at the exact point where you want to mount the headlight.
  • Electrical margin: 80 W on low beam, 150 W with high and low beam together. If you already use heated grips or a heated vest, consider the total load on the alternator.

Installation

  • Connect via a relay with a dedicated fuse; never connect to an existing circuit.
  • Adjust the beam inclination so that it does not dazzle oncoming traffic: this is the most important check and the most often skipped.
  • The approval concerns the device. The conditions of installation and use on your vehicle remain subject to the Highway Code.

How does it work, in detail?

Almost all auxiliary spotlights on the market are sold with the clause “for off-road use only.” Not the L7S: it is type-approved under ECE certificate E57*149R00/06*1142, issued by the Type Approval Authority of the Republic of San Marino on January 24, 2024.

The class is C under UN Regulation R149.00, and the E57 149R-001142 mark is stamped on the lamp housing.

Two versions, shipped at random

Two versions, shipped at random

LOBOO states in its technical documentation that the L7S is shipped either in the old or the new version. The only difference is the clamp: the light, certification, optics, and controls are the same.

We’re telling you this before purchase because we can’t guarantee which of the two you’ll receive, and because it’s information that is usually discovered when opening the box. If your installation requires a specific version, contact us before ordering and we’ll check what we have in stock.

Each spotlight contains two beams: a low beam with a cutoff line and a high beam, which you can use separately or together. You don't need two pairs of lights to have both low and high beams.

On the road, that means two units instead of four on the crash bar: less weight overhanging the front end and only one wiring harness to run to the battery.

The control is installed near the clutch lever. The main switch alternates between low beam and dual beam, the dial adjusts the intensity through eight settings, and a second button controls the overtaking flash; two rows of indicators show the status and active level.

The eight levels are not merely an aesthetic detail: in low-beam mode, the output ranges from 2,500 to 8,000 lumens, and with both beams from 4,800 to 15,000. In the city or behind another vehicle, keep it at the minimum without switching it off, and turn it all the way up only when the road gets truly dark.

The low beam has a defined cutoff line that proves symmetrical and stable in testing: it widens the illuminated area at the road edges without dazzling oncoming traffic. The comparison footage is taken from the same position, first with only the motorcycle’s headlight and then with the auxiliary lights switched on.

The difference is most noticeable at the sides of the carriageway and in the area directly in front of the wheel. On high beam, the test measurement exceeds 32,500 candela at the point of maximum intensity, compared with a required minimum of 25,000.

LOBOO states up to 15,000 total lumens for the pair. This is the output of the LED sources—the figure that almost all manufacturers put front and center.

The type-approval test report instead measures the beam's useful luminous flux, which is a different quantity: 1,467 lumens for low beam and 2,248 for high beam, per headlight. The two figures are not comparable, and we provide both because in this industry the first is often presented as though it were the second.

One touch of the dial changes the setting and cycles through them: low beam, low beam plus high beam, and the three warning modes—alternating, simultaneous, and rotating. A second button controls the overtaking flash.

The controller remembers the last setting used: when you turn it on again, you start where you left off, without having to cycle through everything again with your gloves on.

The wiring includes a dedicated signal cable that connects to the original horn control: press the button to sound the horn and flash the spotlights at the same time.

A combined audible and visual signal is much more noticeable than sound alone, especially from inside a car with the windows closed and the radio on. When you release the button, the lights automatically return to the mode you were using.

The housing is made of aluminum alloy with cooling fins, and this is not an aesthetic choice: in an LED, the light you see depends on how much heat can escape from the headlight housing.

A headlight that dissipates heat poorly loses luminous flux after just a few minutes and ages quickly. In the type-approval photometric stability test, after twelve hours of continuous operation, the high beam had lost 0.5% of its initial intensity.

The housing is CNC-machined from a block of aluminum alloy. The technical specification filed for type approval adds details that no commercial datasheet provides: a clear glass lens, two non-replaceable LEDs per headlamp, and insulated copper wiring.

The glass matters more than it may seem: unlike polycarbonate, it does not yellow over the years and better withstands gravel thrown up by the front wheel. The integrated LEDs, however, are not designed for light-source replacement.

It defends itself

When the temperature rises too high, the controller automatically reduces the power instead of letting the LEDs operate beyond their limit. It also features reverse-polarity and overvoltage protection.

These are the two situations that usually kill a cheap spotlight: a reversed connection during the initial installation and a system surge with the engine running. Here, the electronics handle them—not luck.

The stated protection rating is IP68: dust-tight and suitable for temporary immersion. In the rain, even heavy rain, and when crossing shallow streams, there is nothing to worry about.

However, a close-range high-pressure jet remains outside what the manufacturer guarantees: these are different tests, and one does not cover the other. When washing the motorcycle, do not aim the pressure washer at the headlights.

The yellow lens cover is included free of charge and can be removed at any time: white at 6000 K with the lens uncovered, yellow at 3000 K when needed.

The information sheet filed for type approval declares both white and yellow, but the colorimetric tests for the ratio were conducted using white. Yellow helps in fog and rain, where it reduces the glare that white light produces on suspended water droplets, and protects the lens from gravel.

The clamp rotates around the tube, and the light rotates on the clamp: the aim can be adjusted on two axes once the light is already mounted, without disassembling anything.

That’s why the same part works on a low crash bar and a high handlebar. And that’s what you need for the most important check after installation: lower the beam until it no longer dazzles oncoming traffic.

The included clamps fit 22, 25, and 28 mm bars: handlebars, dual-sport bars, and crash bars. The angle can be adjusted along multiple axes after installation.

For 32 and 38 mm bars, the clamps must be purchased separately. Measure the diameter at the exact point where you want to mount it: on many bars, the cross-section varies along their length.

The manufacturer's table gives the two extremes for each mode, referring to the pair. On low beam, it ranges from 25 to 80 W, that is, from 2,500 to 8,000 lumens; with both beams, from 48 to 150 W, that is, from 4,800 to 15,000 lumens.

This is the figure you really need to size the circuit: 80 and 150 W are the maximum at the eighth level, not the usual consumption. If you already have heated grips or a heated jacket, keep in mind that the draw at the minimum setting is one-third of the maximum.

The two most commonly used positions are on the crash bar on either side of the headlight, at headlight level, or lower down on the tubular guards, where the low beam illuminates the road surface more effectively.

The farther you spread them outward, the wider the illuminated area in corners; the lower you keep them, the better you can see bumps. Before tightening them, check that at full steering lock they do not touch the fairing, grips, or cables.

The LOBOO LC081 CAN-Bus controller connects the auxiliary lights to the motorcycle’s electronics. Three reasons why it changes everyday use:

  • No additional buttons on the handlebar: turn the auxiliary lights on and off and adjust them using the original Multi-Controller wheel, with your thumb and without letting go of the grip.
  • They follow the motorcycle’s lights: low beam, high beam, and passing flash remain synchronized with the factory controls, as if the auxiliary lights were original equipment.
  • Installation without cutting: it plugs into the original connector with the dedicated cable, with no wire taps and without touching the motorcycle’s wiring harness.

And it does more: independent control of the two lights, warning and flash modes activated from the original controls, and memory of the last setting. Choose the controller based on the cable: 4-pin for the R 1200 and R 1250 GS and K 1600 series, 5-pin for the R 1300 GS and GS Adventure, and 8-pin for the F 750, 800, 850, and 900 GS and F 900 XR.

Is it approved for road use?

Yes. The L7S has ECE type approval E57*149R00/06*1142, issued on January 24, 2024, by the San Marino Republic Type Approval Authority under UN Regulation R149.00, 00 series of amendments, supplement 06. The approved class is C, and the E57 149R-001142 mark is stamped on the headlight housing.

This is a substantial difference compared with auxiliary lights sold for off-road use only. You are responsible for verifying the installation requirements under the Highway Code for your vehicle.

Which dumbbells or bars can it be mounted on?

The included clamps fit 22, 25, and 28 mm bars: the clamp works directly with 28 mm bars, while the two pairs of bushings reduce it to 25 and 22 mm. These are the typical sizes for handlebars and crash bars.

For 32 and 38 mm bars, the clamps must be purchased separately; they are not included in the package. Measure the diameter at the exact point where you want to mount the light, because the cross-section changes along the length of many bars.

Is the mounting bracket included?

Yes, the clamps are included in the package, along with the reducing bushings: they fit bars measuring 22, 25, and 28 mm. For 32 and 38 mm, they must be purchased separately.

The kit also includes a pair of lights, the wiring harness with the eight-level rotary switch, the hardware with threadlocker, Allen keys, and complimentary yellow lens covers.

The LOBOO quick-release mounts, which allow you to remove the lights without tools, are a separate accessory and are available for 22–25–28, 32, and 38 mm bars.

How do you adjust the brightness?

With an aluminum dial installed near the clutch control, it can be reached with your thumb without letting go of the grip. It offers eight intensity levels, from minimum to maximum, with a status indicator showing the active level.

It is more useful than it may seem: in the city or behind another vehicle, keep it at a low level without turning it off, and increase it only when the road gets dark.

What is the horn flash function?

By connecting the cable dedicated to the original horn control, pressing the button sounds the horn and makes the spotlights flash at the same time. A combined audible and visual signal is much more noticeable than either alone, especially from a car with the windows closed.

Three independent flashing modes are also available: alternating, simultaneous, and sequential.

Is the yellow lens cover included, and can it be removed?

Yes, the manual lists it as a complimentary included accessory, in two pieces, and it can be removed at any time: you can use the white-light headlamp at 6000 K or attach it for the 3000 K yellow beam.

A useful clarification: the filed information sheet states both white and yellow, but the report’s colorimetric tests were conducted only on white. Yellow is especially helpful in fog and rain, where it reduces glare from water droplets, and it protects the lens from gravel.

Is there a version specifically for my motorcycle?

L'L7S is the universal version: it can be mounted on any motorcycle, on the handlebars or crash bars. The included clamps cover diameters of 22, 25, and 28 mm; clamps for 32 and 38 mm are sold separately.
