Barkbusters BHG-119 handguard mounting kit for Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and Guerrilla 450 from 2024

The BHG-119 is the Barkbusters mounting kit designed for the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and Guerrilla 450 from 2024 onward. It is the framework onto which Barkbusters plastics are mounted: on its own, it protects levers and hands from impacts; with the plastics, it also provides protection from wind, cold, and branches.

Protection and use

Barkbusters clearly distinguishes between the two mounting configurations, and the two-point configuration, anchored both at the end and at the center of the handlebar, is the one the manufacturer specifies for impact protection. On the Himalayan 450, designed for light off-road use, and on the Guerrilla 450, this means keeping the levers protected from falls, stones, and branches.

Materials and construction

Heat-treated aluminum bars (manufacturer code BAR-V-064), MFC-L and MFC-R multi-fit clamps with CP8 connectors. The manufacturer does not state the kit's finish or weight, so we do not report them.

Compatibility

Do you have an earlier Himalayan? For the Himalayan from 2016 to 2021, Barkbusters specifies the BHG-084; for the Himalayan from 2023, the BHG-111.

Barkbusters specifies compatibility with motorcycles in their original factory configuration, with the handlebar and windshield in their standard positions.

Installation

Remove the original handguards, if fitted. It may be necessary to reposition the brake line at the connection on the master cylinder to make room for the clamp connector: the manufacturer specifies that, if required, this work must be carried out by a qualified technician. Fit the clamp and connector without tightening them, aligning the reference marks; secure the bar at the end and then to the connector, in a horizontal position when viewed from the side; on the left side, add the 15 mm spacer. Tighten in the order specified by the manufacturer.

Specified torque settings: 10 Nm for the M6 bolts and 28 Nm for the M8 bolts, using medium-strength threadlocker and checking after the first 50 km. For greater security, the manufacturer recommends reaming the end hole to 8 mm, using bolts purchased separately. Leave approximately 3 mm of clearance between the throttle grip and handguard.

What is NOT included

• Protective plastics. The kit consists of the framework only: the plastics must be purchased separately from those specified by the manufacturer.
• The M8 bolts for anyone choosing to re-tap the thread, threadlocker, and tools.

• JET-003: compact profile, for gravel roads and mixed use.
• VPS-003: two-position adjustable deflector, for touring. It is being discontinued, and the price list indicates the VPS-203 as its replacement.
• STM-003, STORM series: larger coverage, for the colder months.
• BCF-003, CARBON series: made of carbon fiber.
