Everything you need to know before ordering
Compatibility, included items, installation, and documents: below is every detail verified against the official Barkbusters documentation.
The BHG-084 is the Barkbusters mounting frame with two mounting points that the manufacturer lists for four motorcycles sharing the same handlebar geometry: KTM 390 Adventure from 2020 to 2024, Royal Enfield Himalayan from 2016 to 2021, Yamaha XT660R from 2004, and Bajaj Dominar 400. The aluminum bar anchors to the handlebar end and to a clamp on the straight section, forming a continuous loop around the hand.
These are motorcycles for slow touring and imperfect roads, often far from a workshop: here, a broken lever is not just a cosmetic annoyance, but a lost day. Two things to know before ordering: the protective plastics are not included, and there are two manufacturer-stated limitations, explained below.
Key features
- Two-point mounting: the configuration that the manufacturer specifies for impact protection. The single-point setup is stated to be for wind and weather protection only.
- Heat-treated aluminum bar: the treatment increases strength without adding weight to the structure.
- Four motorcycles covered by a single code because they share the same handlebar.
- Natural aluminum finish, unpainted.
- Four compatible plastic series: JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON, interchangeable on the same structure.
- Made in Australia by Rideworx Pty Ltd, which has designed handguards since 1984.
Two manufacturer-stated limitations
- Royal Enfield handlebar with crossbar: not compatible. If your Himalayan has a transverse reinforcement bar on the handlebar, this kit will not fit. Check before ordering.
- Bajaj Dominar 400 from 2020: requires two M6x70 flat-head screws (Barkbusters code R-M6X70FHCSZP) that are not included in the kit and are not currently in our catalog.
Protection and use
The wraparound structure protects the brake lever, clutch lever, and switchgear from branches, gravel, and contact with the ground, absorbing the impact instead of transferring it to the lever. The plastics determine the rest: JET plastics remain compact, VPS plastics have a deflector adjustable to two positions, STORM plastics provide more coverage and are the choice for winter riding, while CARBON plastics are made of carbon fiber.
Materials and construction
Heat-treated aluminum bar, dedicated clamps, and hardware. The manufacturer does not provide weight and dimensions numerically, and we do not estimate them. Handlebar weights are not listed in the official parts list for this code: they are explicitly specified on other Barkbusters kits, but not here, so we do not consider them included.

Barkbusters compatibility applies to motorcycles in their original factory configuration. With an aftermarket handlebar, diameters and thicknesses change, and the mounting must be checked before purchase. Contact us with the model and year, and we will check it with you.
Installation
- Check the model and year, and make sure the handlebar is the original one. On the Royal Enfield, check that it does not have a crossbar.
- Clear the handlebar ends of anything fitted as standard.
- Fit the clamp to the straight section of the handlebar, in front of the controls, without fully tightening it.
- Attach the aluminum bar to the handlebar end and the clamp, then position it.
- Fit the plastics you have chosen, align them, and tighten.
- Check the throttle, front brake, clutch, and free steering from lock to lock, then recheck the tightening after the first 50 km.

What is NOT included
The protective plastics, which must be ordered separately: JET-003, VPS-203, STORM STM-003, or CARBON BCF-003. EGO plastics are not compatible. Handlebar weights are not listed in the official parts list. The two M6x70 screws required for the Bajaj Dominar 400 from 2020.

I installed the JADO S6 on my BMW GS (non-"dedicated" version), and although I don't use the BMW base, the display and features are still top notch. The night visibility is impressive, and the "X-Ray" mode, as they call it, makes evening riding much safer. The bag is of excellent quality and comes with all the necessary straps and a shoulder strap. The two methods of attaching it to the motorcycle are well designed and offer a range of options. I will also buy the larger model.
