Barkbusters BHG-111 handguard mounting kit for Royal Enfield Himalayan from 2023

The BHG-111 is the Barkbusters mounting kit that the manufacturer lists for the Royal Enfield Himalayan from 2023. It is the structure onto which Barkbusters plastics are mounted: on its own, it protects levers and hands from impacts; with the plastics, it also provides protection from wind, cold and branches.

Which Himalayan? Barkbusters writes “Himalayan from 2023” without specifying the engine displacement. For the Himalayan 450 from 2024, it lists the BHG-119; for the Himalayan from 2016 to 2021, the BHG-084. Before ordering, tell us your motorcycle's model and year: we will verify it with the distributor.

Protection and use

Barkbusters clearly distinguishes between the two mounting configurations, and the two-point configuration, anchored both at the end and at the center of the handlebar, is the one the manufacturer specifies for impact protection. On the Himalayan, designed for gravel roads and long journeys, this means keeping the levers protected from falls, stones and branches.

Materials and construction

Heat-treated aluminum bars (manufacturer code BAR-V058), CFS-ADV-23 frame clamps. The manufacturer does not state the kit's finish or weight, so we do not list them.

Compatibility

* Engine displacement not specified by the manufacturer. Barkbusters states compatibility for motorcycles in original factory configuration.

Installation

Remove the original handlebar weights. Mount the clamp without tightening it, preassemble the bolt, bar, weight and washers, and position them at the handlebar end, aligning the clamp with the end of the bar. Screw in the end bolt without tightening it, then insert the bolt that passes through the bar and spacer and fastens into the clamp. With the bar preferably horizontal when viewed from the side, tighten in this order: end bolt, bar bolt, then the clamp bolts evenly.

Specified torque settings: 10 Nm for the M6 bolts and 28 Nm for the M8 bolts, using medium-strength threadlocker and checking again after the first 50 km. Once installation is complete, check the controls and the mirror view, which must not be obstructed. Barkbusters recommends professional installation.
