BMW: all models and accessories that fit
BMW accessoriesmodel by model
People buying accessories for a BMW almost always make the same mistake: they assume that a part from the previous generation will fit the new one. Between the R 1250 GS and R 1300 GS, the frame and mounting points change; between the GS and GS Adventure, the tank and subframes change. The result is an engine guard left sitting in the garage.
Inside, you will find what to fit first, a table showing what carries over from other generations and what does not, and the brands that have codes developed specifically for that motorcycle.

What really changes between one generation and the next
Three components follow the bike's mounting points and leave no room for error: engine guards, pannier frames, and auxiliary light brackets. They change with every redesign, even when the bike looks identical.
Three usually remain compatible within the same family: grips, mirrors, and instrument protection, provided the handlebar diameter and dashboard shape do not change. On the R 1300 GS, the dashboard is new, so the screen protector is specific to it too.
The rest must be checked case by case, using the manufacturer's stated mounting part number and the production year. That is why each model has its own sheet, with a table showing what fits and what does not.
Frequently asked questions about BMW accessories
Do the R 1250 GS accessories fit the R 1300 GS?
Almost none. The 1300 has a new frame, tank, dashboard, and mounting points. Only universal handlebar accessories remain compatible, such as throttle stabilizers and clamp-on smartphone mounts.
Which BMW is the most affordable to equip?
The F 850 GS and F 750 GS: they share much of their components and have a mature range of accessories. A complete touring setup costs about half as much as one for an R 1300 GS.
GS or GS Adventure: are the accessories the same?
No for luggage and protection, yes for ergonomics and instrumentation. The cases are often the same, but the frames that support them are not.
Watch out for names that are repeated
Two model lines are especially misleading: the F 650 GS, single-cylinder until 2007 and twin-cylinder from 2008, and the F 800 GS, the classic version until 2018 and completely new from 2024. In both cases, the accessories are not interchangeable.
Do you have accessories for the new F 450 GS?
Yes, those that do not depend on mounting points: tank bags with a ring, soft bags, mirrors, and USB sockets. Hand guards, a kickstand plate, and frames will arrive when manufacturers release the dedicated part numbers.
How can I tell whether my model is the right one?
You need the registration year, not just the name. A 2010 F 800 GS and a 2017 one have different mounting points for engine guards and fenders.
