In brief
The new 2027 Honda Africa Twin CRF1150L had its world premiere at EICMA 2026 in three versions: Africa Twin, Adventure Sports and the new Enduro Sports. The parallel twin grows to 1,131 cc and produces 119 hp (87.5 kW) and 119 Nm of torque; Showa EERA electronic suspension is now standard on the Africa Twin and Adventure Sports, and the Adventure Sports DCT can be equipped with Honda SENSING RIDE radar with adaptive cruise control.
Prices and the arrival date in Italy have not yet been announced. All the data below comes from Honda press releases dated November 2 and 3, 2026, which Honda itself describes as provisional. For owners of a CRF1100L Africa Twin: current frames and guards have not been verified for the new bike, which has a new frame and swingarm.
Three versions, one engine: wheels, suspension and fuel tank differ
The engine is identical across the entire range. Differences are in weight, suspension travel, seat height, ground clearance and fuel tank capacity.

Compared with the CRF1100L, the engine, frame, electronics and riding position have changed
The most useful comparison is with the bike it replaces. The 2026 figures are Honda's, already listed in our CRF1100L review.
| Item | CRF1100L 2026 | CRF1150L 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Displacement | 1,084 cc | 1,131 cc |
| Power | 75 kW (102 hp) at 7,500 rpm | 87.5 kW (119 hp) at 7,500 rpm |
| Torque | 112 Nm at 5,500 rpm | 119 Nm at 5,750 rpm |
| Compression ratio | 10,5:1 | 12,1:1 |
| Throttle bodies | 46 mm | 52 mm |
| Electronic suspension | not on all versions | Showa EERA with Skyhook standard on the Africa Twin and Adventure Sports |
| Adventure Sports fuel tank | 24.8 L | 24.2 L, with some of the fuel under the seat |
| Adventure Sports seat | 835/855 mm | 830/850 mm |
Engine: more displacement and higher compression
Honda increased the bore, displacement and compression ratio, redesigned the intake and exhaust, and revised the gear ratios. The claimed result is 17 hp and 7 Nm more, with peak power still at 7,500 rpm. The four-valve-per-cylinder Unicam single overhead camshaft design and chain final drive remain. The quickshifter and DCT foot-pedal control remain optional.
Ergonomics: higher handlebars, narrower footpegs
On the standard version, the handlebar is 10 mm narrower, 10 mm higher, and positioned farther forward; the footpegs are 20 mm narrower and 10 mm farther back; the seat padding at hip level is 5 mm thicker. These are small figures, but they suit riders who stand up on the dirt. The steel frame weighs 13.3 kg.
Equipment: what used to be purchased separately
The standard CRF1150L comes with cruise control, heated grips, hand guards, an aluminum rear carrier, an electrically adjustable windscreen (130 mm in height and 10 degrees of tilt), Honda SMART Key for the ignition, steering lock, and fuel cap, and spoked wheels with tubeless tires. The instrumentation pairs a 7-inch touch TFT with a second 5.7-inch display, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an off-road screen with a compass. The fuel tank lid has a lockable compartment for a large smartphone, with a USB-C port.

On weight, it’s important to be honest: the 2027 standard model is listed at 237 kg in running order, compared with the 231 kg we reported for the base 2026 Africa Twin. However, the new model includes electronic suspension and some accessories as standard that were previously optional; Honda refers to weight reductions to the frame and swingarm, not to an overall lighter motorcycle.

The Adventure Sports is the first Honda with front and rear radar
For those who cover long distances on the highway, it’s the most practical new feature in the lineup. However, it’s an option, and only available with the DCT.
What Honda SENSING RIDE does
- Adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go: in traffic, the motorcycle stops and starts again along with the DCT.
- Group Ride Assist and Distance Assist to maintain a distance from the vehicle ahead, even when riding in a group.
- Forward Collision Warning and emergency braking assistance.
- Blind Spot Information with LEDs in the mirrors, rear-distance information, and a rear collision warning with flashing indicators.
- Active Speed Limiter, listed in the specifications for the radar-equipped version.
The package adds just 1 kg to the Adventure Sports DCT (256 versus 255 kg). All Adventure Sports models have E-Combined ABS braking and Vehicle Hold Control. For riders traveling with a full load, the 24.2-liter tank and claimed range of around 480 km with the manual transmission matter just as much as the radar.

The Enduro Sports is the lightest Africa Twin, with the greatest ground clearance
It's the real new addition to the range: a version designed for off-road riding, with a fork to a specification equivalent to the CRF450 RALLY.
- you spend many days on proper dirt roads, not just gravel roads
- you're looking for conventional, manually adjustable suspension rather than electronic suspension
- you're tall and an 870 mm seat height doesn't faze you
- you travel two-up with panniers on long highway trips
- you want radar or the large fuel tank: those remain exclusive to the Adventure Sports
- you already struggle to touch the ground with the standard seat
Honda describes a more compact front end, twin LED headlights, a low windscreen and a lightweight tail. Heated grips, a heated seat, a center stand, panniers and a top case are listed as optional. The 49 mm Showa closed-cartridge fork and the shock, both fully adjustable, replace the EERA electronics on the other two versions.

Against the BMW R 1300 GS, the Africa Twin remains the 21-inch-wheel choice
BMW's boxer remains the benchmark rival in Europe. The numbers show that these two bikes are playing in different leagues.

Honda data from 27YM press releases; BMW data from the Moto.it price list for the 2023-26 R 1300 GS. We are not reporting the BMW's weight because the sources consulted use different criteria that cannot be compared with Honda's ready-to-ride figure.
Read Endurrad
The BMW remains more powerful; the standard Africa Twin and Enduro Sports retain the 21" front wheel that the R 1300 GS doesn't have, while the Adventure Sports aligns with the GS with its 19" wheel and counters with a larger tank and optional radar. The real comparison will be decided by the Italian price list, which isn't available yet. This is an editorial assessment, not a test.

Which CRF1150L for which rider
With three versions, the choice is no longer just “manual or DCT.”
| Rider profile | Best-fit version | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Long-distance trips with a passenger, lots of highway riding | Adventure Sports, optionally DCT with SENSING RIDE | 24.2 L, approximately 480 km claimed range, lower seat, radar |
| Mixed road and dirt use, a bit of everything | Africa Twin | 21" front wheel, standard EERA, full equipment |
| Challenging off-road riding, amateur rally raids | Enduro Sports | 228 kg, long-travel suspension, 260 mm of ground clearance |
| Shorter riders | Adventure Sports | 830 mm in the low position, 5 mm less in Minimum mode |

Price and arrival in Italy are not yet official
What Honda hasn't said matters as much as what it has, especially for anyone deciding whether to wait.
- E-Clutch: the CRF1150L press kits do not mention it; the only leverless solution described is DCT.
- Reference price: the 2026 Adventure Sports starts at €19,490 in Italy. Any figure you read for the 2027 model before the official price list is an estimate.
- Genuine accessories: Honda announces Comfort, Rally, Travel and Urban packages for the standard model, and Comfort, Rally and Travel Soft for the Enduro Sports, with no prices.

We will update this page at the same address when Honda Italia publishes prices and dates.
CRF1100L accessories have not been verified on the new motorcycle
The frame, swingarm, bodywork, and luggage rack are new: luggage frames, plates, and guards designed for the CRF1100L should not be assumed to be compatible.
There is, however, one new feature that changes the tool kit for travelers: the spoked wheels are tubeless across the entire lineup. A puncture can be repaired on the spot without removing the wheel, as long as you carry a strip kit and something to inflate the tire. These two products are universal and don't depend on the motorcycle model.

If you ride a CRF1100L and don't plan to replace it, the dedicated range remains the same: accessories for the Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports and all Honda accessories, including the LOBOO JP322B frames and complete luggage kit. Frequently asked questions about the new 2027 Honda Africa Twin
What is the new 2027 Honda Africa Twin CRF1150L?
It's the fourth generation of Honda's large-capacity adventure bike, replacing the CRF1100L. Honda Motor Europe published the press kits on November 2, 2026, and the motorcycle had its world premiere at EICMA on November 3, in three versions: Africa Twin, Adventure Sports, and Enduro Sports.
How much horsepower does the 2027 Africa Twin 1150 have?
Honda claims 87.5 kW, or about 119 hp, at 7,500 rpm and 119 Nm at 5,750 rpm. The CRF1100L was rated at 75 kW (102 hp) and 112 Nm. The engine is a 1,131 cc parallel twin with a 94 x 81.5 mm bore and stroke and 12.1:1 compression.
How much does the new Africa Twin weigh?
Curb weight, according to Honda's provisional figures: 237 kg for the standard model with manual transmission (247 kg DCT), 245 kg for the Adventure Sports (255 kg DCT, 256 kg with SENSING RIDE), and 228 kg for the Enduro Sports (239 kg DCT).
How much does the 2027 Honda Africa Twin cost?
The Italian price hasn't been announced yet. As a reference, the 2026 Africa Twin Adventure Sports starts at €19,490. We'll update the article when Honda Italia publishes the price list.
When will the CRF1150L arrive at dealerships?
Honda hasn't announced a release date for Italy yet. The press kits refer to model year 2027 without specifying the arrival month.
What is the Africa Twin Enduro Sports?
It's the new off-road-focused version: a 49 mm Showa closed-cartridge fork with specifications equivalent to the CRF450 RALLY, 240 mm of front travel and 230 mm at the rear, 260 mm of ground clearance, an 870-890 mm seat height, and a curb weight of 228 kg with manual transmission. It doesn't have EERA electronic suspension.
What is Honda SENSING RIDE?
It's a rider-assistance system with front and rear millimeter-wave radar. It includes adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, distance keeping even when riding in a group, forward collision warning, emergency braking assistance, blind-spot warning, and rear collision warning. It's available only as an option on the Adventure Sports with DCT.
Does the new Africa Twin have an E-Clutch?
The press kits for the CRF1150L don’t mention it. L'The alternative to the manual transmission is still the dual-clutch DCT; the quickshifter is optional for the manual version.
Does the Adventure Sports still have the large tank?
Yes: 24.2 liters, just under the 24.8 liters of the CRF1100L Adventure Sports. Some of the fuel is held in an auxiliary tank under the seat to lower the center of gravity. Honda claims a range of about 480 km with the manual transmission.
Are the spoked wheels tubeless?
Yes, on all three versions. Honda emphasizes that a puncture can be repaired without removing the wheel. That makes it worth traveling with a plug-strip kit and a portable compressor.
Do CRF1100L accessories fit the CRF1150L?
They should not be assumed to be compatible. The frame, swingarm, bodywork and luggage rack are new, so pannier racks, top-case plates, skid plates and crash bars need to be checked code by code with the manufacturer. Endurrad will do this once the bike arrives in Italy.
What comes standard on the 2027 Africa Twin?
According to Honda: Showa EERA suspension with Skyhook, cruise control, heated grips, hand guards, aluminum luggage rack, electrically adjustable windscreen, SMART Key, 7-inch touchscreen TFT with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a smartphone compartment with USB-C socket in the tank.
Is it worth waiting for the 2027 model or buying a CRF1100L?
It depends on the price and timing, which are not yet known. If you need more power, standard EERA or radar, the 2027 model offers a lot more on paper. If you’re looking for a bike ready for next season and a wide selection of already verified accessories, the CRF1100L remains a solid choice.
