In brief. A motorcycle smartphone mount should be chosen based on four decisions, in this order: how it dampens vibrations, how it attaches the phone, how it protects it from water, and whether it powers it. The first matters most: Apple states explicitly that vibrations from high-powered motorcycle engines can degrade the optical stabilization and autofocus of iPhones, and advises against mounting them on these motorcycles. A mount with a damper reduces the risk; none eliminates it.
At Endurrad, you'll find three different damping technologies: silicone pads (LOBOO PH02S, from €54), a floating magnetic base (LOBOO PH06, €162), and air suspension or an integrated damper (Outplorer, from €69). The dimensions, tightening torques, and prices shown here are taken from the manufacturers' specifications and manuals, verified on October 9, 2026.
Choose the right mount based on four decisions, not the brand
The phone mount is the accessory you look at most often during a day of travel. If you get one of the four choices below wrong, you'll notice at the first rain or the first stretch of dirt road.
The four questions to ask yourself before buying
- Damping: does the mount interrupt the vibration path between the handlebar and phone (silicone, magnetic base, air suspension), or is it rigid?
- Mounting: snap-on mechanical claws, a screw clamp, or a dedicated case with a quick-release fitting? This determines what happens when you hit a pothole badly.
- Water: is the phone's own resistance enough, or do you need a waterproof case? What matters is the stated IP rating, not the word «waterproof».
- Power: with the navigation running for hours, you need to recharge. Wireless, via cable, or not at all - and from which motorcycle outlet.

Vibrations damage the camera, not the mount
A rigid mount doesn't fall: it transmits. When damage occurs, it's inside the phone and often isn't visible until you open the camera.
What Apple says, verbatim
In its support note on vibration, Apple explains that high-power or high-displacement motorcycle engines generate intense, high-amplitude vibrations that are transmitted to the frame and handlebar. Prolonged exposure can degrade two systems: optical image stabilization (OIS), present since the iPhone 6 Plus, 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and later models, and closed-loop autofocus, present from the iPhone XS onward.
There are two recommendations: connecting an iPhone to motorcycles with high-power or high-displacement engines is discouraged; with electric or low-displacement vehicles, such as mopeds and scooters, use an anti-vibration mount and avoid prolonged, regular use in any case.
Three damping methods, three different behaviors
| Technology | How it works | Endurrad products | Strength | Limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Multilayer silicone pads | Three layers of silicone (main, central, and lower) interrupt direct contact between the handlebar and phone | LOBOO PH02S | Simple structure, with no part that oscillates significantly: the screen remains readable | On twin-cylinder and large single-cylinder engines at low revs, some vibration gets through (as stated by LOBOO) |
| Floating magnetic base | The phone holder module "floats" on a magnetic base: greater oscillation amplitude, lower transmitted intensity | LOBOO PH06 | The greatest margin on rough surfaces, according to LOBOO | Must not be mounted horizontally or upside down (LOBOO manual) |
| Air suspension / integrated damper | Air chamber on three axes (Air Suspension series) or damper in the mount (Quick Launch series) | Outplorer P100, H1000, PH10, QM01–QM07 | Modular system: the same mount attaches to the handlebar, mirror, clutch lever, or brake reservoir | Quick Launch versions require a dedicated case or adhesive interface |

The mount determines whether the phone stays on the motorcycle after hitting a pothole
Phone dimensions must be measured with the case fitted. This is the most common mistake: the "bare" phone fits, but the one with a reinforced case does not.
- Insert from above; the upper claw clicks into place, and you unlock it with the PUSH button
- Works with almost all phones within the size limits, without a dedicated case
- Can be operated with winter gloves
- It does not tolerate poorly adjusted side slides: LOBOO specifies a maximum play of 0.5 mm
- Needs to be readjusted every time you change your phone or case
- 360° magnetic attachment with safety lock (Safety Lock)
- Clean phone, no marks on the edge and unobstructed buttons
- QU01 adhesive interface for models without a PRO case
- If you change phones, you change the case (€29 for the PRO)
- The PRO case is available only for iPhone 14–17/Air and Samsung Galaxy S23–S25
| Mount | Phone width (with case) | Length | Max. thickness | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LOBOO PH02S | 65–98 mm | 125–170 mm | 13 mm | LOBOO data sheet |
| LOBOO PH06 | 65–92 mm | 125–169 mm | 12.5 mm | LOBOO manual |
| Outplorer P100-A (screw clamp) | 63–97 mm | n/a | n/a | Outplorer data sheet |
| Outplorer Quick Launch | Depends on the model's PRO case or the QU01 adhesive interface | Outplorer data sheet | ||

In the rain, the IP rating matters, not the word «waterproof»
An IP68-certified phone withstands water under laboratory conditions. Hours of driving rain at 110 km/h, with the charging cable plugged in, are another matter.
| Rating (IEC 60529 standard) | What it guarantees | What it means on a motorcycle |
|---|---|---|
| IPX4 | Water splashes from every direction | Light, brief rain |
| IPX5 | Water jets (6.3 mm nozzle, 12.5 l/min) | Continuous rain, splashes from the wheel |
| IPX6 | Powerful water jets (12.5 mm nozzle, 100 l/min) | Heavy rain on the highway, jet washing |
| IPX7 | Temporary immersion up to 1 m for 30 minutes | Riding through water or falling into a puddle |
| IPX8 | Continuous immersion beyond 1 m, under conditions specified by the manufacturer | The widest margin, but read the manufacturer's conditions |
Waterproof case or open mount: the trade-off
The closed case (for example, Outplorer QW01/QW02, rated IPX8, with a Quick Launch mount on the back) protects the phone from water and mud and can be used through the transparent window even when wet. The trade-off is worse heat dissipation: in summer, with the screen at maximum brightness and navigation running, the phone may overheat and reduce brightness or charging.
The open mount keeps the phone cooler and more readable, but relies on the phone's own water resistance. Remember that a smartphone's IP resistance is not permanent and decreases with wear, and that phone manufacturers usually exclude liquid damage from the warranty.

15 W wireless charging does not always keep up with navigation
GPS active, screen at maximum brightness, and direct sunlight: consumption can exceed what wireless charging supplies. That is why LOBOO mounts also have a USB-C port.
What limits charging on a motorcycle
- The phone: actual power depends on the protocol it supports. Many phones stop below the mount's maximum.
- Heat: wireless charging generates heat. At high temperatures, the phone reduces or suspends charging to protect the battery.
- Objects in between: magnetic rings, metal plates for magnetic mounts, and PopSockets shield the field or trigger foreign-object detection. A thin plastic, rubber, or lightweight leather case is fine.
- The cable: the 230 mm LOBOO right-angle cable is not included. The USB-C/USB-C version supports 60 W, while the USB-C/Lightning version supports 27 W.
If your motorcycle already has a USB port and you want to find out how much current a 100 W port can draw from the electrical system, you can find the calculations in the guide to the 100 W USB-C port for motorcycles.

Where and how to install it: connections, cable, and the three mistakes that make your phone fall
The base cannot be changed after purchase: decide on the mounting point first and measure the tube with calipers.
| Mounting point | Diameter | LOBOO PH02S / PH06 | Outplorer | For whom |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Handlebar | 22, 25, 28, 32 mm (bushings included) | Handlebar / standard version | QM01, QM02 (22–35 mm), P100-C | Maxi enduro and naked motorcycles with tubular handlebars |
| GPS bar above the instruments | 12–13 mm | 13 mm bar version | P100-A (clamp 13–42 mm) | Adventure motorcycles with a factory or aftermarket navigation crossbar |
| Mirror stem | up to 10.2 mm | Mirror version | QM04, QM05, P100-B | Scooters and small-displacement motorcycles, crowded cockpits |
| Steering stem hole | 12–25.4 mm | Sport version only PH06 | n/a | Supersport motorcycles with clip-on handlebars |
Installing LOBOO, step by step
- Position everything without tightening: place the mount, turn the steering to full lock on both sides, and check that the phone and cable do not touch the windscreen, instruments, or levers.
- Tighten to the specified torque: M6 handlebar clamp nut 12 N·m (beyond this, the manual warns that the thread may strip); 13 mm bar bracket screws 3 N·m; M6×16 and M6×22 mirror-joint screws 10 N·m.
- Adjust the side slides: tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m with threadlocker, keep the slides symmetrical, and maintain clearance around the phone of no more than 0.5 mm.
- Secure the cable with slack: on the PH06, the manual calls for 9–11 cm between the cable outlet and the cable clamp to allow free rotation.
- Connect the power supply to a switched positive and verify that charging stops when the key is removed.
- Test it on the road and recheck the tightness after the first 100 km and periodically: LOBOO asks you to check the screws and the smooth movement of the upper claw, which can stick because of dust and sand.

Which one to choose: the answer depends on your bike, phone, and trip
There is no single best mount. There is one that provides enough damping for your engine, fits your phone, and mounts at the available point on your bike.
| Profile | Choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You navigate little, your phone lasts until evening | LOBOO PH02S without charging (€54) | Same damping and locking as the charging version, no work on the electrical system |
| Trips with the navigator always on | LOBOO PH02S with charging (€81) | 15 W induction plus USB-C PD 24 W, phones up to 98 mm wide |
| Large twin-cylinder, frequent off-road riding, expensive phone | LOBOO PH06 (€162) | Floating magnetic base, USB-C up to 36 W, geared rotation that does not drift |
| Multiple bikes, different mounts, frequent rain | Outplorer Quick Launch (from €55) + PRO or QW01/QW02 case | One mount for the handlebar, mirror, and other points; IPX8 waterproof case when needed |

Is it legal to use a smartphone as a navigator?
Yes, if the phone is secured to a mount and you do not handle it while riding. Article 173 of the Highway Code, amended by Law 177/2024 effective December 14, 2024, prohibits using smartphones and devices that require the use of your hands while driving: the fine ranges from €250 to €1,000 with a deduction of 5 points, and repeat offenses within two years result in a higher fine and suspension of the license. Set the route while stationary.
