In brief. The BMW F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure, presented by BMW Motorrad on September 7, 2023, use the same 895 cc inline twin-cylinder engine with 105 hp at 8,500 rpm and 93 Nm at 6,750 rpm. Almost everything else differs: the F 900 GS weighs 219 kg at kerb weight and has a 14.5-litre tank, while the Adventure reaches 246 kg but carries 23 litres. In 2026, the BMW Motorrad Italy price list starts at 14,600 euros for the F 900 GS and at 15,400 euros for the Adventure.

Here you will find the complete technical specifications of the two versions side by side, the differences that matter in use, the new features for model year 2026, what has changed compared with the F 850 GS, and which accessories fit each one. Every number indicates its source.

The F 900 GS has 105 hp and weighs 219 kg at kerb weight

The two motorcycles share the engine, frame and transmission. The data below comes from the official technical specifications of BMW Motorrad Italy, consulted on October 5, 2026; where BMW does not publish an entry, we indicate it.

How to read the data. Weight, fuel consumption and performance are stated by BMW Motorrad. Payload is the difference between the permitted gross weight and the kerb weight, both stated by BMW. Moto.it gives the seat height a total range of 815 to 890 mm on the F 900 GS and 805 to 890 mm on the Adventure, achievable with optional seats and suspension setups.

The Adventure is not an F 900 GS with a larger tank

Same engine, same suspension travel, same tires: yet the two motorcycles are ridden and used differently. The difference lies in three figures, 27 kg, 8.5 liters and 17 kg of payload, and in the equipment.

The F 900 GS Adventure: touring fairing, 23-liter tank, aluminum engine protection.

F 900 GS: the lightest, also designed for off-road riding

The 14.5-liter plastic tank, short tail and standard Akrapovič titanium exhaust keep the weight at 219 kg. This is the version for which BMW offers the Enduro Pro package, with fully adjustable suspension and handlebar risers.

F 900 GS Adventure: range and protection above all

The 23-liter tank changes the motorcycle's range. BMW Motorrad Italia lists an adjustable touring windscreen, aluminum engine protection and heated grips among the equipment; the Ride Pro package adds Keyless Ride, electronic cruise control, Riding Modes Pro and Shift Assistant Pro. The price of this versatility is 27 kg more weight and a lower payload.

Choose the F 900 GS if
  • you often leave the pavement and weight matters more than range
  • you take one- or two-day trips and can easily find a gas station
  • you want the Enduro Pro package with adjustable suspension
Choose the Adventure if
  • you travel long distances, including in areas with few gas stations
  • you spend many hours on the highway and want more wind protection
  • you accept 27 kg more in exchange for 8.5 liters of fuel

What about the F 800 GS?

It is the third motorcycle presented on the same day, the most road-oriented model in the family: according to BMW, it produces 64 kW (87 hp) at 6,750 rpm with 91 Nm of torque. The accessories are collected in the accessories for BMW F 800 GS collection; some LOBOO codes, such as the CJC031 kickstand plate, are suitable for the F 800 GS and only for the F 900 GS in Comfort trim.

In 2026, the F 900 GS starts at 14,600 euros, and the Adventure at 15,400

The base prices come from the BMW Motorrad Italia model pages and match the Moto.it price list. The versions change colors and packages, not the engine or technical specifications.

The F 900 GS Adventure costs 800 euros more than the F 900 GS in the 2026 base price list.

What changes in model year 2026

Two BMW Motorrad press releases describe the changes. The one dated July 3, 2025, removes the adhesive tape from the F 900 GS's front fender and, on the Adventure, separates the Dynamic ESA suspension and center stand from the Ride Pro package, which can now be ordered separately; Ride Pro changes to Sage Green. The one dated November 27, 2025, brings Style Passion in Matt Snapper Rocks Blue and the new Trophy graphics to the F 900 GS. The engine and chassis remain the same as in 2024.

What this means for buyers

A new 2025 F 900 GS available for immediate delivery is not technically outdated: only the colors and graphics change. On the Adventure, however, check what is actually included in the Ride Pro package of the bike you are buying: on a 2026 model, Dynamic ESA and the center stand are no longer included.

Prices subject to change. Price lists change throughout the year, and dealerships run their own promotions. Before deciding, always compare with the BMW Motorrad Italia configurator.

Compared with the F 850 GS, it has 10 hp more and weighs 14 kg less

The F 900 GS replaced the F 850 GS in 2024. BMW's launch press release of September 7, 2023, lists the main differences, which we summarize as follows.

+10 hpfrom 95 to 105 hp, for the F 900 GS and Adventure

−4.5 kgfrom the plastic tank alone

F 900 GS in profile: the plastic tank made it possible to reduce weight compared with the F 850 GS.

Adjustable fork and Enduro Pro package

The F 900 GS and the Adventure feature a fully adjustable Showa upside-down fork, whereas the F 850 GS had a non-adjustable one. The Enduro Pro package adds a fork with titanium nitride coating, a fully adjustable rear shock absorber, handlebar risers, and an M Endurance chain.

Standard electronics

As standard, there are two riding modes, Rain and Road, with ABS Pro and Dynamic Traction Control DTC. Additional modes, such as Dynamic and Enduro, come with Riding Modes Pro, which are included in the packages.

Corrections compared with the 2023 version of this page. The F 900 GS was not introduced in 2020, but on September 7, 2023, and arrived at dealerships in 2024. The correct weights are 219 kg for the F 900 GS and 246 kg for the Adventure, not 211 and 229 kg. Rain, Road, and Dynamic are riding modes, not DTC levels.

With 23 liters, the Adventure theoretically exceeds 500 km

Range and payload are the two figures that determine how you prepare the bike for a trip. The ranges below are our calculations based on the WMTC consumption declared by BMW, not manufacturer data.

Accessories add weight too. Crash bars, racks, plates and empty cases count toward the payload. With two people and a full load of luggage, the Adventure approaches its limit before the F 900 GS does: weigh the luggage and check the registration document. The weights in the table are examples, not measurements.

Almost no LOBOO accessories are shared by the F 900 GS and Adventure

The tail, side stand and protection components differ between the two versions, so the part numbers change. The prices and stock levels below were checked in the Endurrad catalog on October 5, 2026.

  1. Side stand first. On dirt, gravel or hot asphalt, the stock foot sinks in: the plate is inexpensive and installs in just a few minutes.
  2. Then protection. On the F 900 GS, the crash bar protects the fuel tank and engine; on the Adventure, the aluminum engine guard is already included in the equipment specified by BMW.
  3. Then luggage. Start with the racks or plate, then the cases: the structural part is what you do not change.
  4. Finally, ergonomics. Risers, hand guards and grips should be chosen after a few hundred kilometers, when you know what is tiring you.

The versions change colors and packages, not the engine or technical specifications.\n\n\nModel\n2026 versions and colors\nStarting price\nSource\n\n\n\nF 900 GS\nBlack Storm metallic base; Style Passion in Snapper Rocks Blue matte metallic; Style Trophy in Racingblue metallic, Lightwhite and Racingred\n14.600 €\nBMW Motorrad Italia, Moto.it\n\n\nNot valid for\nBlack Storm metallic base; Ride Pro package in Sage Green metallic\n15.400 €\nBMW Motorrad Italia, Moto.it\n\n\n\nThe F 900 GS Adventure costs 800 euros more than the F 900 GS in the 2026 base price list.\n\nWhat changes in model year 2026\nTwo BMW Motorrad press releases describe the changes. The engine and chassis remain the same as in 2024.\n\n\nWhat this means for buyers\nA new 2025 F 900 GS available for immediate delivery is not technically outdated: only the colors and graphics change. On the Adventure, however, check what is actually included in the Ride Pro package of the bike you are buying: on a 2026 model, Dynamic ESA and the center stand are no longer included.\n\n\nPrices subject to change. Price lists change throughout the year, and dealerships run their own promotions. Before deciding, always compare with the BMW Motorrad Italia configurator.\n\n\nCompared with the F 850 GS, it has 10 hp more and weighs 14 kg less\nThe F 900 GS replaced the F 850 GS in 2024. BMW's launch press release of September 7, 2023, lists the main differences, which we summarize as follows.\n\n\n+10 hpfrom 95 to 105 hp, for the F 900 GS and Adventure\n\n\n−14 kgF 900 GS compared with the F 850 GS\n\n\n−4.5 kgfrom the plastic tank alone\n\n\n895 ccdisplacement of the new twin-cylinder engine\n\n\nF 900 GS in profile: the plastic tank made it possible to reduce weight compared with the F 850 GS.\n\nAdjustable fork and Enduro Pro package\nThe F 900 GS and the Adventure feature a fully adjustable Showa upside-down fork, whereas the F 850 GS had a non-adjustable one. The Enduro Pro package adds a fork with titanium nitride coating, a fully adjustable rear shock absorber, handlebar risers, and an M Endurance chain.\n\n\nStandard electronics\nAs standard, there are two riding modes, Rain and Road, with ABS Pro and Dynamic Traction Control DTC. Additional modes, such as Dynamic and Enduro, come with Riding Modes Pro, which are included in the packages.\n\n\nCorrections compared with the 2023 version of this page. The F 900 GS was not introduced in 2020, but on September 7, 2023, and arrived at dealerships in 2024. The correct weights are 219 kg for the F 900 GS and 246 kg for the Adventure, not 211 and 229 kg. Rain, Road, and Dynamic are riding modes, not DTC levels.\n\n\nWith 23 liters, the Adventure theoretically exceeds 500 km\nRange and payload are the two figures that determine how you prepare the bike for a trip. The ranges below are our calculations based on the WMTC consumption declared by BMW, not manufacturer data.\n\n\n~330 kmF 900 GS: 14.5 L at 4.4 l\/100 km\n\n\n~520 kmAdventure: 23 L at 4.4 l\/100 km\n\n\n226 kgF 900 GS payload\n\n\n209 kgF 900 GS Adventure payload\n\n\nCases, top case and passenger quickly consume the payload.\n\n\nLoad example\nApproximate weight\nF 900 GS margin\nAdventure margin\n\n\n\nEquipped rider\n90 kg\n136 kg\n119 kg\n\n\n+ equipped passenger\n+70 kg\n66 kg\n49 kg\n\n\n+ cases, top case and accessories\n+45 kg\n21 kg\n4 kg\n\n\n\n\nAccessories add weight too. Crash bars, racks, plates and empty cases count toward the payload. With two people and a full load of luggage, the Adventure approaches its limit before the F 900 GS does: weigh the luggage and check the registration document. The weights in the table are examples, not measurements.\n\n\nAlmost no LOBOO accessories are shared by the F 900 GS and Adventure\nThe tail, side stand and protection components differ between the two versions, so the part numbers change.
