Description Barkbusters handguard mounting kit BHG-118 for BMW F 900 GS and Adventure

The BHG-118 is the model-specific mounting kit for the BMW F 900 GS from 2024 onward, for all four configurations specified by the manufacturer: heat-treated aluminum bar, clamps, and hardware.

Declared compatibility

Model Years
BMW F 900 GS from 2024 onward
BMW F 900 GS Adventure from 2024 onward
BMW F 900 GS Adventure Ride Pro from 2024 onward
BMW F 900 GS Enduro from 2024 onward

Declared compatibility for motorcycles in original factory configuration.

No handlebar riser requirement

That is the key difference compared with the BHG-115, the other part number for this motorcycle: it can be installed only with handlebar risers of at least 30 mm. The BHG-118 has no such requirement, covers more configurations, and is the part number the manufacturer specifies as the replacement for the BHG-115, which is being discontinued.

Impact protection

Two mounting points and heat-treated aluminum. Barkbusters states that this configuration is designed for impact protection: that is the substantial difference compared with the original handguards, which are designed primarily to protect against the wind.

The plastics are NOT included

Plastic Character
JET-003 Compact profile, more air for your hand
VPS-203 Adjustable wind deflector: adventure and touring
STM-003 The most extensive coverage in the range: road riding and cold weather
BCF-003 Real carbon fiber

EGO plastics are not compatible.

What you will find in the package

  • Two heat-treated aluminum bars.
  • Clamps and complete hardware.

What is NOT included

  • Protective plastics, to be chosen from JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON.

Be careful not to confuse it with the F 800 GS

The F 800 GS from 2024 onward, including the Sport and Triple Black versions, has its own part number, the BHG-117. Despite the similar name, these are two motorcycles with different handlebars.

  • Nessun requisito sui rialzi.
  • Protezione dagli impatti dichiarata.

  • Prodotto in Australia.
Who is it recommended for

Assembly and documents

  1. Rimuovi i paramani originali e i contrappesi, secondo quanto indicato nel PDF.
  3. Fissa la barra in alluminio all estremità del manubrio e al morsetto, poi portala in posizione.

It covers all four trim levels

  • No requirements for handlebar risers, unlike the BHG-115.
One code for all configurations

One code for all configurations

The manufacturer states that this kit fits all four F 900 GS models from 2024 onward: base, Adventure, Adventure Ride Pro, and Enduro. It is the most comprehensive part number for this motorcycle and replaces the discontinued BHG-115.

No requirements for handlebar risers

No requirements for handlebar risers

This is the key difference compared with the BHG-115, which can only be installed on motorcycles with handlebar risers of at least 30 mm. Here, the manufacturer imposes no conditions: the motorcycle simply needs to be in its original factory configuration.

Real protection, not just wind

Real protection, not just wind

The original GS handguards are designed primarily for wind protection. This kit has two mounting points and is made of heat-treated aluminum: Barkbusters states that this configuration is designed for impact protection, meaning to protect the lever in a fall.

Four plastics to choose from

Four plastics to choose from

The plastics are purchased separately, and the manufacturer lists four: JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON. The official photos show the kit fitted with three of them on the Adventure Ride Pro. And you can change them over the years without altering the structure.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

Which versions of the F 900 GS does it fit?

On all four declared by the manufacturer since 2024: F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure, F 900 GS Adventure Ride Pro and F 900 GS Enduro. It is the broadest code in the range for this motorcycle.

What is the difference compared with the BHG-115?

The riser requirement. The BHG-115 can be installed ONLY if the motorcycle has handlebar risers of at least 30 mm, either factory-installed or aftermarket. The BHG-118 has no such restriction and fits more configurations. It is also the part number the manufacturer lists as the replacement for the BHG-115, which is being discontinued.

I have handlebar risers: can I still install this?

The manufacturer specifies the BHG-118 for the motorcycle in its original factory configuration, without imposing any conditions on risers. If you have substantial risers or an aftermarket handlebar, send us a photo before ordering and we’ll check.

Are the protective plastic parts included?

No. The BHG-118 is the mounting structure only: aluminum bars, clamps, and hardware. The plastic components are selected and purchased separately.

What plastics can I install on it?

Four series: JET with a compact profile, VPS with an adjustable deflector, STORM with extended coverage, and CARBON in fiber. The official photos show the kit installed with VPS, STORM, and CARBON. EGO plastics are not compatible.

Does it also fit the F 800 GS?

No. The F 800 GS from 2024 onward, including the Sport and Triple Black versions, has its own code, BHG-117. Despite the similar name, they are two motorcycles with different handlebars.

Does it protect the lever in a fall?

Yes. It has two attachment points, and the manufacturer states that heat treatment of the aluminum is intended to add strength and protection against impacts.

Do I need to remove the original handguards?

Yes, the kit takes their place on the handlebar. The official instructions attached to the product page provide the complete sequence.

My model is listed, but the year isn’t: will it still fit?

The manufacturer states compatibility from 2024 onward. We do not extend the range by inference: if your year is not included, contact us with the chassis number and trim level, and we will verify it before ordering.

I installed an aftermarket handlebar: does it fit the same way?

The manufacturer declares compatibility with motorcycles in their original factory configuration. On an aftermarket handlebar, the diameter and geometry change, so the fitment must be checked on a case-by-case basis before purchase.

What will I find in the package?

The two aluminum bars, the clamps, and all the mounting hardware. No protective plastic.

What finish does it have?

Natural, unpainted aluminum. For this code, the manufacturer does not offer a black version.
