Barkbusters BHG-034 handguard mounting kit for Kawasaki Versys 650 (KLE650)

Protection and use

Barkbusters clearly distinguishes between the two mounting configurations, and the two-point configuration, anchored both at the end and at the center of the handlebar, is the one the manufacturer specifies for impact protection. On the Versys 650, a crossover for touring and everyday use, this means protecting the levers from stationary falls, stones, and branches.

Materials and construction

Heat-treated aluminum bars (manufacturer code BAR-V-030), CS-STD two-piece clamps with CP4 connectors. The manufacturer does not specify the kit's finish or weight, so we do not report them.

Barkbusters specifies this compatibility for motorcycles in original factory configuration. Fitment on aftermarket handlebars must be verified before purchase.

Installation

Remove the original handlebar weights. Fit the clamp onto the handlebar without tightening it, attach the bar at the end and to the clamp connector, position it horizontally when viewed from the side, and tighten the end bolt. Then tighten the clamp in the specified order: the bar bolt on the connector, the bolt securing the connector between the two clamp halves, and the bolt closing the clamp around the tube. The nut fits into its recess and does not need to be held with a wrench. Specified torques: 10 Nm for the M6 bolts and 28 Nm for the M8 bolts, using medium-strength threadlocker and checking after the first 50 km. Leave approximately 3 mm of clearance between the throttle grip and the handguard. Barkbusters recommends installation by a workshop.
