The BHG-100-BK is the Barkbusters mounting kit designed for the handlebars of the Ducati Desert X and Desert X Rally from 2022 to 2025, with black powder-coated bars, clamps, and connectors. It is the structure onto which Barkbusters plastics are mounted: on its own, it protects levers and hands from impacts; with the plastics, it also provides protection from wind, cold, and branches.

It is also available in unpainted aluminum. The BHG-100-NP has the same parts list, compatibility, and plastics: only the finish changes.

Protection and use

Barkbusters clearly distinguishes between the two mounting configurations, and the two-point configuration, anchored both at the handlebar end and at its center, is the one the manufacturer specifies for impact protection. On the Desert X, designed for off-road use, this means keeping the brake and clutch levers safe from falls, stones, and branches, even when the motorcycle ends up on the ground on a trail.

Materials and construction

Heat-treated aluminum bars (manufacturer code BAR-BV-055) and MFC-L-BK and MFC-R-BK multi-fit clamps, all black powder-coated. Barkbusters does not state the kit's weight, so we do not report it.

Compatibility

Barkbusters states this compatibility with an explicit end year and for motorcycles in original factory configuration. The 2026-onward Desert X models and the Desert X Discovery are not on the manufacturer's list: contact us before ordering. Aftermarket handlebars may have different diameters and wall thicknesses, so the mounting must be checked before purchase.

Installation

Remove the original handguards and, if present, the stock handlebar weights. Fit the clamp to the handlebar without tightening it, aligning the reference marks, then secure the bar at the end and to the clamp connector and position it horizontally when viewed from the side. Tighten in the order specified by the manufacturer, leaving approximately 3 mm of clearance between the throttle grip and the handguard so the throttle can return freely. Specified torques: 10 Nm for the M6 bolts and 28 Nm for the M8 bolts, using medium-strength threadlocker and checking the tightening after the first 50 km. Barkbusters recommends installation by a workshop.
