Description Barkbusters BHG-109 handguard mounting kit for Honda CB 750 Hornet from 2023

The BHG-109 is the Barkbusters mounting kit designed around the handlebar geometry of the Honda CB 750 Hornet from 2023 onward. It is the aluminum structure that supports the handguards: it protects levers, controls, and hands in low-speed crashes and stationary tip-overs, and stays on the bike even when you change the plastics.

As with the entire range, the protection structure and plastics are two separate products: here you are purchasing the structure only, with hardware and handlebar weights.

Protection and use

On a road naked bike, handguards are not for branches: they are for what actually happens. A stationary tip-over in a parking lot, a low-speed slide when exiting a wet roundabout — in both cases, the first thing to hit the ground is the brake or clutch lever, and on a modern bike it is not a cheap part. With an aluminum bar anchored at two points, the structure takes the impact.

Then there is winter. The Hornet has no fairing, and anyone who rides it to work year-round knows what air on your hands feels like in January: paired with the plastics, the same structure also becomes a wind shield. The single-point configuration, the other option in the range, only does that second job: the manufacturer specifies it for wind and weather protection, not impacts.

Materials and construction

Heat-treated aluminum structure, a process the manufacturer uses to increase strength and impact absorption. The design wraps around the hand: it starts from the straight section of the handlebar, curves around the hand, and closes at the end.

The Hornet name is not enough. This code is specified for the CB 750. For the CB1000 Hornet SP from 2025 onward, the manufacturer specifies a different code, BHG-134.

Installation

Mounts on the original handlebar, with no drilling or modifications to the bike. The standard handlebar weights must be removed because the structure anchors directly to the handlebar ends, and the supplied weights are used in their place.

Before fully tightening, check that the throttle, front brake, clutch, and engine stop switch operate freely and that the steering turns from lock to lock without interference. Recheck the tightening after the first 50 km. A chi ha già messo tamponi e protezioni al telaio e vuole completare il ragionamento sulla parte più esposta e più costosa da sostituire.

Non è la scelta giusta per la CB1000 Hornet: lì il produttore dichiara un codice diverso.

Assembly and documents

Le istruzioni ufficiali INS-BHG-109-NP sono allegate a questa scheda.

  1. Verifica che la moto sia una CB 750 Hornet dal 2023 e che il manubrio sia quello originale.
  2. Rimuovi i contrappesi di serie: al loro posto vanno quelli forniti nel kit.
  3. Monta i morsetti sulla sezione dritta del manubrio, davanti ai comandi, senza serrare a fondo.
  4. Fissa la barra in alluminio all estremità del manubrio e al morsetto, poi portala in posizione.
  5. Monta le plastiche che hai scelto, allinea tutto e serra.
  6. Verifica il funzionamento di gas, freno anteriore, frizione e interruttore di arresto, e che lo sterzo giri liberamente da fondo a fondo. Ricontrolla il serraggio dopo i primi 50 km.

Frenafiletti di media resistenza su tutti i fissaggi. Il produttore considera il montaggio dei paramani un intervento rilevante per la sicurezza, da affidare a un tecnico se non hai dimestichezza.

Nella foto ufficiale il kit è montato con plastiche VPS, vendute separatamente: deflettore regolabile in due posizioni, utile su una naked che d inverno prende tutta l aria. Sulla stessa struttura si possono montare anche JET, STORM o CARBON, e si cambiano negli anni senza toccare l alluminio.

Le plastiche di protezione sono incluse?

No. Qui acquisti solo la struttura in alluminio con la viteria e i contrappesi. Le plastiche JET, VPS, STORM o CARBON si ordinano a parte, restano intercambiabili sulla stessa struttura e si possono cambiare di colore anche a distanza di anni.

Il mio modello è in tabella ma l'anno no: posso montarlo lo stesso?

Il produttore dichiara la CB 750 Hornet dal 2023 in avanti, senza limite superiore. Per altre Hornet, comprese le CB 600 F storiche e la CB1000 Hornet, la compatibilità non è dichiarata su questo codice: scrivici modello e anno e verifichiamo.

I contrappesi manubrio sono compresi?

Sì, il produttore li dichiara inclusi su questo codice. I contrappesi di serie della moto vanno rimossi, perché la struttura si ancora proprio all estremità del manubrio, e al loro posto si montano quelli forniti.

Ho una CB1000 Hornet: va bene questo kit?

No. Il BHG-109 è dichiarato per la CB 750 Hornet. Per la CB1000 Hornet SP dal 2025 il produttore dichiara un codice diverso, il BHG-134. Il nome Hornet da solo non basta a scegliere il kit.

Perché mettere i paramani su una naked stradale?

Per lo stesso motivo per cui si mettono i tamponi al telaio. Su una naked il rischio non è il ramo: è il ribaltamento da fermo in parcheggio e la scivolata a bassa velocità, e in entrambi i casi la prima cosa che tocca terra è la leva. Con una barra in alluminio ancorata in due punti il colpo lo prende la struttura. In più, d inverno, le plastiche riducono l aria sulle mani, che su una moto senza carena è tutta.

Quali plastiche di protezione posso montare su questa struttura?

Quattro serie dichiarate dal produttore: JET dal profilo compatto, VPS con deflettore regolabile, STORM a copertura estesa e CARBON in fibra di carbonio. Su una naked usata tutto l anno la VPS è la scelta più comune. Le EGO non sono compatibili.

Cambiano molto l'estetica della moto?

Dipende dalla serie che abbini. La JET è la più contenuta e resta vicina alla linea del manubrio, la STORM copre molto di più. Le foto ufficiali mostrano la Hornet con due serie diverse proprio per farti vedere la differenza prima di scegliere.

Serve modificare il manubrio? E se è aftermarket?

Sul manubrio originale non serve alcuna modifica: si monta con la viteria fornita. Barkbusters dichiara le compatibilità solo su moto in configurazione originale di fabbrica: su un manubrio aftermarket cambiano diametro e spessori, e il fissaggio va verificato prima dell acquisto.

Che differenza c'è fra due punti di fissaggio e punto singolo?

Sono due configurazioni che il produttore distingue e non sovrappone. I due punti, come in questo kit, ancorano la barra sia all estremità del manubrio sia alla sezione dritta, e sono indicati per la protezione dagli impatti. Il punto singolo è indicato solo per la protezione da vento e intemperie.

Cosa trovo esattamente nella confezione?

Le due barre in alluminio trattato termicamente, i morsetti, la viteria completa e i contrappesi manubrio. Non ci sono plastiche di protezione: sono l articolo da abbinare.

Perché non un kit universale, che costa meno?

Perché sulla Hornet i morsetti devono trovare spazio fra cavi e blocchetti elettrici senza interferire con leve e comandi, e perché la lunghezza della barra è calcolata su quel manubrio. Un kit universale resta la scelta giusta quando il manubrio non è più quello originale.
