Leggi la descrizione completa

The BHG-109 is the Barkbusters mounting kit designed around the handlebar geometry of the Honda CB 750 Hornet from 2023 onward. It is the aluminum structure that supports the handguards: it protects levers, controls, and hands in low-speed crashes and stationary tip-overs, and stays on the bike even when you change the plastics.

As with the entire range, the protection structure and plastics are two separate products: here you are purchasing the structure only, with hardware and handlebar weights.

Key features

  • Two-point mounting — anchoring at the handlebar end plus a clamp on the straight section. This is the configuration the manufacturer specifies for impact protection.
  • Heat-treated aluminum bar, with a wraparound design and natural aluminum finish.
  • Handlebar weights included — they do not need to be purchased separately.
  • Clamps shaped for the Hornet, designed to work with the standard cables and electrical switchgear.
  • Interchangeable plastics — compatible with JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON, each sold separately.
  • Made in Australia by Rideworx Pty Ltd.

Protection and use

On a road naked bike, handguards are not for branches: they are for what actually happens. A stationary tip-over in a parking lot, a low-speed slide when exiting a wet roundabout — in both cases, the first thing to hit the ground is the brake or clutch lever, and on a modern bike it is not a cheap part. With an aluminum bar anchored at two points, the structure takes the impact.

Then there is winter. The Hornet has no fairing, and anyone who rides it to work year-round knows what air on your hands feels like in January: paired with the plastics, the same structure also becomes a wind shield. The single-point configuration, the other option in the range, only does that second job: the manufacturer specifies it for wind and weather protection, not impacts.

Materials and construction

Heat-treated aluminum structure, a process the manufacturer uses to increase strength and impact absorption. The design wraps around the hand: it starts from the straight section of the handlebar, curves around the hand, and closes at the end.

Compatibility

Brand Model Years Barkbusters code
Honda CB 750 Hornet from 2023 onward BHG-109-NP

Compatibility declared by Barkbusters for motorcycles in original factory configuration. Aftermarket handlebars have different diameters and wall thicknesses: mounting must be checked before purchase. Unsure about your model? Contact us with the model and year.

The Hornet name is not enough. This code is specified for the CB 750. For the CB1000 Hornet SP from 2025 onward, the manufacturer specifies a different code, BHG-134.

Installation

Mounts on the original handlebar, with no drilling or modifications to the bike. The standard handlebar weights must be removed because the structure anchors directly to the handlebar ends, and the supplied weights are used in their place.

Before fully tightening, check that the throttle, front brake, clutch, and engine stop switch operate freely and that the steering turns from lock to lock without interference. Recheck the tightening after the first 50 km. The complete procedure and warnings are provided in the official INS-BHG-109-NP instructions, attached to this product page in the Manufacturer documents section.

What you will find in the package

  • Two heat-treated aluminum bars
  • Clamps for the straight section of the handlebar
  • Complete mounting hardware
  • Handlebar weights

What is NOT included

  • Protection plastics. They must be selected and ordered separately from the JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON series. EGO plastics are not compatible with this structure.
  • LED lights and other accessories in the range, which remain separate products.

Why choose Barkbusters

Barkbusters is a brand of Rideworx Pty Ltd, an Australian company that has designed and produced motorcycle handguards since 1984. The range is built around a precise idea: the structure is specific to the motorcycle, while the plastics are universal within the system. You buy the right structure once and then choose the protection you need, replacing it if it gets damaged or if your type of use changes, without replacing everything.

Why buy it from Endurrad

Endurrad specializes in touring, adventure, and enduro motorcycle accessories: compatibility checked against the manufacturer's documentation, official instructions attached to the product page, and pre-purchase assistance if your model is unclear. Free shipping in Italy on orders over €100 and in Europe on orders over €250, returns within 14 days, 1-year warranty. See the full Barkbusters range.

Real protection on a naked bike

On the Hornet, handguards aren't an enduro accessory: they're levers and controls that stay intact.

Structure only, including counterweights
01

Structure only, including counterweights

What you see is the complete kit: two heat-treated aluminum bars, the clamps, the hardware, and the handlebar weights. The protective plastics are a separate item, to be chosen from JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON.

The first point: the end of the handlebar
02

The first point: the end of the handlebar

The bar anchors inside the end of the handlebar, replacing the original bar end weight. Replacement weights are included in the kit: there is no need to buy them separately or retrieve the stock ones, which must be removed and kept.

The second point: the clamps on the handlebars
03

The second point: the clamps on the handlebars

The clamps close around the straight section of the handlebar, in front of the controls, and are shaped to fit between the cables and switchgear of the Hornet. This is the point that turns the handguard into a cage around the hand: without it, the bar would act as a cantilever supported only at the end.

On the Hornet, with the VPS plastics

In the official photo, the kit is fitted with VPS plastics, sold separately: a two-position adjustable deflector, useful on a naked bike that gets all the wind in winter. JET, STORM, or CARBON can also be mounted on the same structure, and they can be changed over the years without touching the aluminum.

Montaggio e requisiti

Come si monta

  4. Fissa la barra in alluminio all estremità del manubrio e al morsetto, poi portala in posizione.

Domande frequenti

Le domande che ci fate più spesso

Are the protective plastic parts included?

No. Here you purchase only the aluminum frame with the hardware and counterweights. The JET, VPS, STORM, or CARBON plastics are ordered separately, remain interchangeable on the same frame, and can be changed to a different color even years later.

My model is listed in the table, but the year isn’t: can I still install it?

The manufacturer specifies the CB 750 Hornet from 2023 onward, with no upper limit. For other Hornet models, including the historic CB 600 F and the CB1000 Hornet, compatibility is not specified for this part number: send us the model and year, and we will check.

Are the handlebar counterweights included?

Yes, the manufacturer states that they are included with this code. The motorcycle's standard bar-end weights must be removed because the structure attaches precisely to the end of the handlebar, and the supplied ones are installed in their place.

I have a CB1000 Hornet: is this kit suitable?

No. The BHG-109 is specified for the CB 750 Hornet. For the CB1000 Hornet SP from 2025 onward, the manufacturer specifies a different code, BHG-134. The name Hornet alone is not enough to choose the kit.

Why install handguards on a naked street bike?

For the same reason frame sliders are installed. On a naked bike, the risk isn't a branch; it's tipping over while stationary in a parking lot and sliding at low speed, and in both cases the first thing to hit the ground is the lever. With an aluminum bar anchored at two points, the structure takes the impact. Also, in winter, the plastics reduce the airflow on your hands, which is significant on a bike without a fairing.

What protective plastics can I mount on this structure?

Four series declared by the manufacturer: JET with a compact profile, VPS with an adjustable deflector, STORM with extended coverage, and CARBON in carbon fiber. On a naked bike used year-round, the VPS is the most common choice. EGO models are not compatible.
