Description LOBOO CHS081 – Aluminum Handguards for BMW GS with Adjustable Deflector

The LOBOO CHS081 are handguards with a high-strength aluminum alloy body, designed for the BMW GS range. They are not a shield attached to the handlebar, but a structure that forms a cage around the controls: when the bike goes down on a low-speed dirt road, the brake and clutch levers are the parts that stay intact.

The deflector adjusts to three positions without tools

Above the shield is a height-adjustable deflector extension: raise it to keep your hands protected on the highway and in winter, lower it when less protection is needed, or remove it completely when you want more ventilation and visibility off-road. It uses a quick-release system, so you can change it at a traffic light without searching for the keys.

How they are installed

Two-point mounting — at the end of the handlebar and on the clamp — provides rigidity that a single mount cannot: no vibrations and no movement at high speeds. Installation is entirely bolt-on: no drilling and no permanent modifications to the motorcycle. The original handlebar end weight is not discarded; it is reinstalled over the bracket using the supplied spacer.

The package includes hardware and threadlocker, and the manual specifies the tightening torque for each bolt: 25 N·m for the M10, 20 N·m for the M8, 10 N·m for the arch clamp, and 1.5 N·m for the M4 bolts. A torque wrench is required.

There are replaceable impact pads on the sides, which cushion accidental impacts and take the scratches instead of the shield.

Features

  • High-strength aluminum alloy body, with non-slip blocks and replaceable pads
  • Adjustable wind deflector with three positions, removable without tools
  • Two-point mounting, 100% bolt-on installation
  • Hardware and threadlocker included, with tightening torques specified by the manufacturer
  • 306.2 × 126.3 × 200.3 mm per handguard
  • Individually replaceable wear parts: after contact, replace the damaged part rather than the handguard
  • Available in matte black and alpine white

What you need to know before ordering

  • Installation requires removing the motorcycle’s original handguards and temporarily removing the mirrors
  • The LED turn signals are not included. They appear in some manufacturer images for demonstration purposes only: they are a separate accessory, and a dedicated version for the R 1300 GS is available that preserves the motorcycle’s integrated indicators
  • Compatibility is specific to the model and year: the complete list of the twelve models is provided in the product details. The printed manual included in the package dates from December 2024 and lists seven models: it predates the compatibility expansion and is not a shipping error
  • For the R 1200 GS, the applicable models are the liquid-cooled versions from 2013 onward
  • LOBOO does not specify either the weight or an IP rating for this product

Model list, installation, delivery, and warranty information are provided in the product details below.

Why choose it
  • High-strength aluminum alloy body:a structure that cages the controls. OEM levers cost much more than a handguard.
  • Three-position deflector:high on the highway and in winter, low in mid-season, removed off-road. Changes without tools.
  • Two-point mounting:no vibration and no oscillation at high speeds, unlike single mounts.
  • Bolt-on installation:no drilling and no permanent modifications. The original handlebar counterweight can be reinstalled over the bracket.
  • Replaceable bumper pads:take scratches instead of the shield and can be replaced individually.
  • Optional LED turn signals:with a dedicated version for the R1300GS that preserves the original indicators.
Who is it recommended for

Compatible Models

  • BMW F 750 GS (2018-) and F 800 GS (2025-)
  • BMW F 850 GS (2018-) and F 850 GS Adventure (2019-)
  • BMW F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure (2025-)
  • BMW R 1200 GS (2013-) and R 1200 GS Adventure (2014-), liquid-cooled models
  • BMW R 1250 GS (2018-) and R 1250 GS Adventure (2019-)
  • BMW R 1300 GS and R 1300 GS Adventure (2023-)

The printed manual in the package dates back to December 2024 and lists seven of these models: it predates the compatibility extension, it is not an error.

If you have the R 1300 GS and want to add turn signals, ask for the dedicated version: the universal one does not preserve the functionality of the bike's integrated indicators.

It's the right choice if:

  • You use your bike all year round and want to be able to change the level of protection with the season
  • You alternate between asphalt and gravel roads, where levers are exposed to rocks, branches, and low-speed falls
  • You want to replace the original GS handguards with a double-mount aluminum structure
  • You don't want to drill or modify the bike: mounting is entirely bolt-on
Documents and manufacturer

Installation

  • Remove the original mirrors and handguards from the motorcycle: the mirrors will be reinstalled once the work is complete.
  • Assemble the anti-slip blocks and pads onto the arches, then fasten the clamps onto the collar without fully tightening them.
  • At the end of the handlebar, reattach the original counterbalance over the bracket, inserting the supplied spacer in between.
  • Apply the provided threadlocker to all screws except the M10, then tighten: 25 N·m on the M10×55, 20 N·m on the M8×25, 10 N·m on the arch clamp, 1.5 N·m on the M4×10 screws.
  • Adjusting or removing the wind deflector does not require tools.
  • Once installation is complete, test the steering at full lock on both sides and ensure that cables and controls remain free.
  • Recheck the tightening torques after the first 100-200 km, then periodically as recommended by the manufacturer.

Use and maintenance

  • Clean with water and mild soap. Avoid solvents and aggressive products on the transparent deflector.
  • After an impact or fall, check brackets, clamps, and pads before returning to the road.
  • Handguards reduce the exposure of hands and levers but do not replace gloves and protective clothing.

LOBOO CHS081 aluminum handguards for BMW GS

Aluminum alloy handguards for the GS range

Aluminum alloy handguards for the GS range

High-strength aluminum alloy body, height-adjustable wind deflector, and side impact bumpers: the CHS081 brings together the three things you really need on a GS used year-round.

Twelve models covered according to the distributor’s updated list, from the F750GS to the R1300GS Adventure.

Lightweight, but protects hands and levers

Lightweight, but protects hands and levers

The high-strength aluminum alloy body keeps weight down without compromising protection: the handguard acts as a barrier between the brake and clutch levers and whatever comes from outside, whether it is a branch, a stone, or the asphalt in a minor slide.

LOBOO states weight reduction as a material characteristic, but does not publish the figure: the product’s weight does not appear on any specification sheet.

Two-point mounting and bumper pads

Two-point mounting and bumper pads

The handguard attaches at two points: at the end of the handlebar and to the clamp. The structure forms a triangle and stops rotating or vibrating, which is the typical flaw of single-mount handguards.

There are shock-absorbing pads on the sides, one on each side: they absorb accidental impacts, such as those that come from the side when parking or riding along a narrow trail.

Three-position wind deflector

Three-position wind deflector

The transparent extension above the shield adjusts to two heights and can also be removed entirely. Use the high position in winter and on the motorway, when you want maximum protection; the low position when you need less; remove it in summer or off-road, for a cleaner profile.

It’s the same motorcycle that becomes two different motorcycles depending on the season, without buying anything extra.

Adjusts without tools

Adjusts without tools

The deflector attachment has a quick-release mechanism: adjust the height or remove the extension without keys or screwdrivers.

It’s the difference between an adjustment you actually make when the weather changes and one you put off because it would require dismantling half the handlebar.

LED turn signals: optional, not included

LED turn signals: optional, not included

The handguards can accommodate turn signals with LEDs integrated into the body, improving side visibility. This is the configuration shown in some of the manufacturer's images.

Please note: the turn signals are a separate accessory and are not included in the package. If you're interested, contact us, as two different versions are available depending on the motorcycle.

Replace the part, not the handguard.

Replace the part, not the handguard.

Shield, deflector, clamps, brackets, bow, and bumpers are separate components. After an impact or a fall, you replace only the damaged part instead of throwing away an entire handguard because the shield got scratched.

The package contains sixteen separate items, including hardware and threadlocker: it is designed to be disassembled and reassembled, not sealed.

The quiver is already ready, but the arrows aren’t.

The quiver is already ready, but the arrows aren’t.

The lower edge of these handguards already has a recess for the LED turn signals that LOBOO sells separately. That is also why these kits are available only for LOBOO handguards: there is nowhere to mount them on an original or another brand’s handguard.

There are two versions, and they cost the same: the universal CZXD081, for motorcycles with turn signals in the standard positions, and the CZXD131 for the BMW R 1300 GS, whose front turn signals are integrated into the headlight assembly. Both are pairs with four amber LEDs per side. In the manufacturer’s images, the turn signals are often shown installed, but they are a separate accessory, as the manufacturer itself states in the caption.

Dimensions: 306.2 × 126.3 × 200.3 mm

Dimensions: 306.2 × 126.3 × 200.3 mm

Each handguard measures 306.2 mm in length, with a shield height of 126.3 mm and a lateral span of 200.3 mm. Model CHS081, with an aluminum alloy body, available in matte black and alpine white.

The adjacent panel, dated December 2024, lists seven models: F850GS, F850GS Adventure, R1200GS, R1200GS Adventure, R1250GS, R1250GS Adventure, and R1300GS. The distributor’s updated list includes twelve and also covers the F750GS, F800GS, F900GS, F900GS Adventure, and R1300GS Adventure. The dimensions were measured manually, and the weight is not specified.

Mounted on BMW R 1300 GS

The profile follows the handlebar line and integrates with the fairing without looking like an add-on. The shield covers the hand beyond the knuckles, which is where cold wind causes the most discomfort on long rides.

Riding position on the motorcycle

If you have installed a larger windshield or aftermarket mirrors, test the steering at full lock on both sides after installation.

The second mounting point attaches to the collar near the controls. Installation requires no modifications to the motorcycle: remove the mirrors and original handguards, position the clamp on the collar, then reinstall the original handlebar end weight over the bracket using the supplied spacer.

The manufacturer’s photo also shows a mirror extension, but it is not included in this package.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

Are the arrows included?

No. The manufacturer’s images show handguards with integrated LED turn signals, but these are a separate accessory and are not included in the package.

There are two versions: one universal and one specifically for the R 1300 GS, which preserves the functionality of the bike’s original integrated turn signals. If you have the R 1300 GS and are interested, write to us: choosing the right version matters.

Which BMW models do they fit?

Twelve models in the GS range: F750GS from 2018, F800GS from 2025, F850GS from 2018, F850GS Adventure from 2019, F900GS and F900GS Adventure from 2025, R1200GS from 2013 and R1200GS Adventure from 2014, R1250GS from 2018 and R1250GS Adventure from 2019, R1300GS and R1300GS Adventure from 2023.

A useful clarification: the printed manual included in the package dates from December 2024 and lists only seven models because it predates the compatibility expansion. If you open the box and do not find your motorcycle in that list, it is not a shipping error. The list above is the distributor's updated version.

For the R1200GS, the relevant models are the liquid-cooled versions from 2013 onward. If you are unsure about your configuration, write to us with the model and year.

How does the adjustable deflector work?

The transparent extension above the shield moves between two heights and can also be removed entirely. Use the high position in winter and on the highway, where more protection is needed; the low position when you want more air on your hands; remove it in summer or off-road, where a cleaner profile is preferable. It can be adjusted in one minute without tools.

Do you need to drill into the handlebar or remove the original handguards?

No drilling: the installation is entirely bolt-on and uses the existing mounting points. However, the motorcycle’s original handguards must be removed, along with the mirrors, which are reinstalled once the job is complete.

Don’t throw away the original handlebar-end weight: reinstall it on top of the handguard bracket using the supplied spacer. If you ever want to remove the CHS081s, the motorcycle returns to exactly how it was.

Are they compatible with heated grips?

The manufacturer does not comment on this point, so we do not state it. BMW heated grips are standard or available as an accessory on many of the models listed, and the two-point mounting uses the end of the handlebar: if you are unsure about your configuration, send us the model and year before ordering and we will check it together.

Which LED turn signals can I add, and how do the two versions differ?

LOBOO produces two due kits, each consisting of four amber LEDs per turn signal, which fit into the recess already provided in the body of these handguards. The CZXD081 is the universal version, intended for motorcycles with turn signals in the standard positions. The CZXD131 is the version for the BMW R 1300 GS, which has the front turn signals integrated into the headlight assembly: for this motorcycle, the manufacturer expressly recommends the dedicated part number.

The practical difference lies in the wiring: on the CZXD131, the adapter cable ends in a connector, while on the CZXD081 it ends in loose red and black wires that must be connected by identifying the correct points in the electrical system. In both cases, the connection is the responsibility of the installer, and LOBOO does not provide a wiring diagram. They cost the same.

Why two-point mounting?

Because a handguard mounted only at the handlebar end twists and vibrates. With a second attachment at the clamp, the structure becomes a triangle: it stays stable at highway speeds and better withstands side impacts. That’s the difference between a decorative handguard and one that truly protects the levers.

Do they provide protection in the event of a fall?

The high-strength aluminum alloy body and side impact bumpers are designed to absorb accidental impacts and light sliding contact, keeping the levers from direct contact with the ground. No handguard can guarantee lever integrity in a serious crash; the practical advantage here is that after an impact, you replace only the damaged individual part instead of the entire handguard.

Is assembly within everyone’s reach?

Yes, but you need a torque wrench. The manual specifies precise torques: 25 N·m for the M10 bolt, 20 N·m for the M8 bolt, 10 N·m for the handlebar guard clamp, and 1.5 N·m for the six M4 bolts. Threadlocker is included and must be applied to all bolts except the M10.

The procedure involves removing the original mirrors and hand guards, installing the clamps and guards without fully tightening them, and reinstalling the original handlebar counterweight on top of the bracket with the supplied spacer. If you don't have a torque wrench or aren't familiar with handlebar controls, ask a workshop for help.

Do they interfere with windshields or mirrors?

For the models listed, the dimensions are those specified by the manufacturer, and no interference has been reported. If you have installed a larger windshield or aftermarket mirrors, after installation turn the handlebars fully to both sides and check that nothing makes contact: it takes ten seconds and is always worth doing.

What size are they?

Each handguard measures 306.2 mm in length, 126.3 mm in shield height, and 200.3 mm in lateral extension. These dimensions were measured manually by the manufacturer, so there may be a tolerance of a few millimeters. LOBOO does not state the weight.

Can replacement parts be purchased?

Yes, and it’s one of the project’s strengths: the shield, deflector, clamps, brackets, bow, and pads are separate components that can each be replaced individually. The package lists sixteen distinct items. If you need a replacement part, write to us indicating the part and motorcycle model.

Are they worth fitting if I only ride on asphalt?

Yes, and this is actually when the adjustable deflector is most effective. On the road, the enemy isn’t branches but cold wind and rain on your hands: with the extension in the raised position, you can feel the difference in winter, and in summer you can remove it in a minute. They also protect the levers from insects and stones kicked up by other vehicles.

How do you clean them?

Water and mild soap, with a soft cloth. On the transparent deflector, avoid solvents and harsh products, which can dull the plastic, and do not use dry cloths on dusty surfaces because they can scratch them. After the first few rides, check the tightness of the clamps again.
