Everything you need to know before ordering

Compatibility, included items, installation, and documents: below is every detail verified against the official Barkbusters documentation.

Description Barkbusters BHG-078 handguard mounting kit for Yamaha Ténéré 700 from 2019 to 2024

The BHG-078 is the Barkbusters mounting frame designed around the handlebar geometry of the Yamaha Ténéré 700 (XTZ700), from 2019 to 2024. It is a two-point mounting kit: the aluminum bar anchors to the handlebar end and to a clamp on the straight section, forming a continuous loop around the hand.

The T7 is not bought to stay on asphalt. It is used like a large enduro bike, and it falls like one too: stopping on an uphill section, sliding on gravel, or taking a rock thrown up by the bike ahead. In that context, a handguard is not about comfort; it is the difference between picking the bike up and riding on, or being left halfway along the trail with a broken clutch lever.

Know this before ordering: the protective plastics are not included, while the handlebar weights are.

Key features

  • Two-point mounting: the configuration the manufacturer specifies for impact protection. The single-point setup is specified only for wind and weather protection.
  • Heat-treated aluminum bar: the treatment increases strength without adding weight to the structure.
  • Handlebar weights included in the package, as stated by the manufacturer.
  • Natural aluminum finish, unpainted.
  • Four compatible plastic series: JET, VPS, STORM and CARBON, interchangeable on the same frame.
  • Made in Australia by Rideworx Pty Ltd, which has designed handguards since 1984.

Protection and use

The wraparound structure protects the brake lever, clutch lever and switchgear: it takes the impact and distributes it across the aluminum instead of leaving it to the lever. The plastics determine the rest, and on the T7 the choice is a real compromise between bulk and protection:

  • JET — compact profile, with the least bulk in tight terrain.
  • VPS — adjustable deflector with two positions, which can be removed in a few minutes when riding in tight terrain.
  • STORM — extended coverage, the choice for long transfers and winter.
  • CARBON — carbon fiber.

Materials and construction

Heat-treated aluminum bar, dedicated clamps and hardware, and handlebar weights. The manufacturer does not provide weight and dimensions numerically, and we do not estimate them.

Compatibility

Make Model Years Code
Yamaha Ténéré 700 (XTZ700) from 2019 to 2024 BHG-078-NP

If you have a Ténéré 700, check the year and version

Version Years Barkbusters code
Ténéré 700 (XTZ700) 2019-2024 BHG-078 (this page)
Ténéré 700 (XTZ700) from 2025 BHG-131
Ténéré 700 World Raid 2022-2025 BHG-113
Ténéré 700 World Raid from 2026 BHG-131

This is a case where the year matters more than the model: the 2025 redesign changes the handlebar, and the World Raid has its own geometry through 2025. All codes are listed in the catalog.

Barkbusters compatibility applies to the motorcycle in its original factory configuration. On the T7, an aftermarket handlebar is a common modification: in that case, the mounting must be checked before purchase. Write to us and we will check it with you.

Installation

  1. Make sure you have a Ténéré 700 from 2019 to 2024, not a World Raid, with the original handlebar.
  2. Remove the stock handlebar weights: the ones supplied in the kit go in their place.
  3. Mount the clamp on the straight section of the handlebar, in front of the controls, without fully tightening it.
  4. Secure the aluminum bar to the handlebar end and the clamp, then position it.
  5. Mount the plastics you selected, align them and tighten everything.
  6. Check the throttle, front brake, clutch and free steering from lock to lock, then check the tightness again after the first 50 km.

The tightening torques and complete installation sequence are provided in the official Barkbusters instructions supplied with the kit and attached to this product page.

What you will find in the package

  • Two heat-treated aluminum bars, natural finish
  • Clamps shaped for the Ténéré 700 handlebar
  • Complete hardware
  • Handlebar weights
  • Installation instructions INS-BHG-078-NP

What is NOT included

The protective plastics, which must be ordered separately: JET-003, VPS-203, STORM STM-003 or CARBON BCF-003. EGO plastics are not compatible with this frame.

Why choose Barkbusters

Barkbusters is a brand of Rideworx Pty Ltd, an Australian company that has been producing handguards since 1984 and was founded in enduro. On the Ténéré 700, it is one of the most widely fitted accessories in the world, and the reason is simple: a structure designed for the specific motorcycle, interchangeable plastics to choose based on how you use it, and the option to change them over the years without touching the aluminum.

Why buy it from Endurrad

Endurrad is a store specializing in adventure, touring and enduro motorcycle accessories: the Ténéré 700 is exactly the type of motorcycle we exist for. You will find the Barkbusters range with compatibility verified against the official documentation, code by code, along with all accessories for the Yamaha Ténéré 700. Free shipping in Italy on orders over €100, returns within 14 days, 1-year warranty.

Why choose it
  • Protezione dagli impatti dichiarata.
  • Prodotto in Australia.
Who is it recommended for

Assembly and documents

  4. Fissa la barra in alluminio all'estremità del manubrio e al morsetto, poi portala in posizione.
