Everything you need to know before ordering
Compatibility, included items, installation, and documents: below is every detail verified against the official Barkbusters documentation.
The BHG-129 is the Barkbusters mounting system designed around the handlebar geometry of the Yamaha MT 07 from 2025 onward, the latest generation. It is a two-point mounting kit: the aluminum bar is anchored to the end of the handlebar and to a clamp on the straight section, forming a continuous loop around the hand. The bar is black powder-coated.
On a naked bike like the MT 07, handguards are not for branches: they are for tip-overs while parked, contact during maneuvers, and low-speed falls. Ordinary situations that cost you a lever and often the switchgear too.
If you have an MT 07, check the year
The MT 07 uses different kits across two changes because the handlebar changes. This is the first check to make.
| Your MT 07 | Barkbusters code |
|---|---|
| 2013 to 2020 (and LA from 2014) | BHG-068 |
| 2021 to 2024 | BHG-094 |
| from 2025 onward | BHG-129, this page |
Key features
- Two-point mounting: the configuration the manufacturer specifies for impact protection. Single-point mounting is specified only for wind and weather protection.
- Heat-treated aluminum bar: the treatment increases strength without adding weight to the structure.
- Black powder-coated finish, identified by the manufacturer with the BK suffix.
- Four compatible plastic series: JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON, interchangeable on the same structure.
- Made in Australia by Rideworx Pty Ltd, which has designed handguards since 1984.
Protection and use
The wraparound structure protects the brake lever, clutch lever, and switchgear: it withstands impacts and distributes them across the aluminum instead of leaving the lever to take the hit. The plastics determine the rest: JET guards stay compact, VPS guards have an adjustable two-position deflector that can be removed in a few minutes, STORM guards provide more coverage and are the choice for those who ride even in winter, while CARBON guards are made of carbon fiber.
Materials and construction
Heat-treated, black powder-coated aluminum bar, dedicated clamps, and hardware. The manufacturer does not state the weight and dimensions numerically, and we do not estimate them.
We will not speculate about the handlebar weights. The documentation we were able to consult for this code does not mention them: they are explicitly listed for other Barkbusters kits, but not here. We are asking the distributor for confirmation and will update this product page. If this is a deciding factor for you, write to us before ordering.
Compatibility
| Brand | Model | Years | Code |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yamaha | MT 07 | from 2025 onward | BHG-129-BK |
The manufacturer states an open-ended range, with no final year. Barkbusters compatibility applies to the motorcycle in its original factory configuration: an aftermarket handlebar changes the diameter and thicknesses, so the mounting must be checked before purchase. Write to us and we will check it together.
Installation
- Make sure you have an MT 07 from 2025 onward, with the original handlebar.
- Clear the handlebar end of whatever is fitted as standard.
- Fit the clamp to the straight section of the handlebar, in front of the controls, without fully tightening it.
- Attach the aluminum bar to the handlebar end and the clamp, then position it.
- If you have chosen the plastics, fit them, align everything, and tighten.
- Check the throttle, front brake, clutch, and unrestricted steering from lock to lock, then check the tightness again after the first 50 km.
The tightening torques and complete installation sequence are provided in the official Barkbusters instructions supplied with the kit. The manufacturer considers handguard installation a safety-critical task and recommends having it carried out by a technician if you are not familiar with the work.
What you receive
- Two heat-treated aluminum bars, black powder-coated
- Clamps and complete hardware
- Installation instructions
What is NOT included
Protective plastics, which must be ordered separately: JET-003, VPS-203, STORM STM-003, or CARBON BCF-003. EGO plastics are not compatible with this structure. Handlebar weights are not mentioned in the available documentation.
Why choose Barkbusters
Barkbusters is a brand of Rideworx Pty Ltd, an Australian company that has produced handguards since 1984. Born in enduro, it brought the same approach to road bikes: a structure designed for the specific motorcycle, interchangeable plastics chosen separately, and a new code when the motorcycle's handlebar changes instead of an improvised adaptation.
Why buy it from Endurrad
At Endurrad you will find the Barkbusters range with compatibility verified against the manufacturer's official documentation, code by code, and year ranges clearly stated. What the manufacturer does not declare, we say so instead of presenting it as fact. Free shipping in Italy over €100, returns within 14 days, 1-year warranty. Before choosing
Motorcycle dry bag: why it moves and how to keep it secure
The typical complaint is not “water got in,” but “after fifty kilometers, it was crooked.” Why a soft bag crumples, what the internal plate and vent valve actually do, and the two constraints of the Highway Code that no product page mentions.

Motorcycle battery in winter: why it dies and how to keep it alive
The damage doesn’t happen in March when the motorcycle won’t start, but gradually between December and February. What is sulfation, why does almost no one use a battery maintainer, and how can it be resolved in a garage without an outlet?

Universal collars hold by friction, and friction degrades: after a few hundred kilometers, the beam points elsewhere. The three possible positions, the standard diameter, and the thumb-operated control.
