Everything you need to know before ordering

Compatibility, included items, installation, and documents: below is every detail verified against the official Barkbusters documentation.

Description Barkbusters handguard mounting kit BHG-064 for BMW R nineT Scrambler, Urban G/S and R 12 G/S

The BHG-064 is the specific mounting kit for the R nineT Scrambler, R nineT Urban G/S and the new R 12 G/S family: heat-treated, black-painted aluminum bar, clamps and hardware.

Declared compatibility

Model Years
BMW R nineT Scrambler from 2016
BMW R nineT Urban G/S from 2017
BMW R 12 G/S from 2025

Compatibility declared for motorcycles in original factory configuration. The manufacturer does not declare this part number for the other R nineT versions.

Impact protection

Two mounting points and heat-treated aluminum. Barkbusters states that this configuration is designed for impact protection.

On these motorcycles, the lever is just as exposed as it is on an adventure bike, and anyone who rides the Scrambler or Urban G/S on dirt roads knows it: the handguard is the difference between a bent lever and a day that carries on.

Black finish

For this part number, the manufacturer offers only the black powder-coated version. On motorcycles with a classic look, it is the most discreet choice: with matching plastics, the result remains clean.

The plastics are NOT included

Plastic Character
JET-003 Compact profile, the most discreet in the range
VPS-203 Wind deflector adjustable to two positions
STM-003 The most extensive coverage in the range: cold-weather season
BCF-003 Genuine carbon fiber

EGO plastics are not compatible.

What you will find in the package

  • Two heat-treated, black-painted aluminum bars.
  • Clamps and complete hardware.

What is NOT included

  • Protective plastics, to be chosen from JET, VPS, STORM and CARBON.

Why buy it from Endurrad

Free shipping in Italy over €100 and in Europe over €250, returns within 14 days, and support in Italian. If you have changed the motorcycle's handlebar, write to us before ordering: on this family, it is often the first part to be replaced.

Why choose it
  • Protezione dagli impatti dichiarata.
  • Quattro plastiche compatibili. JET, VPS, STORM e CARBON, intercambiabili negli anni sulla stessa struttura.
  • Prodotto in Australia.
Who is it recommended for

Assembly and documents

  4. Fissa la barra in alluminio all estremità del manubrio e al morsetto, poi portala in posizione.

It now also covers the R 12 G/S

  • The manufacturer added the new R 12 G/S from 2025 to the list for this code.
Black, for a classic look that never clashes

Black, for a classic look that never clashes

For this part number, the manufacturer offers only the black powder-coated finish, and it is the right choice for motorcycles with a classic look such as the Scrambler, Urban G/S, and new R 12 G/S: with matching-color plastics, the handguard blends in instead of standing out.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

Which motorcycles does it fit?

On three BMW models: R nineT Scrambler from 2016, R nineT Urban G/S from 2017, and the new R 12 G/S from 2025.

I have the new R 12 G/S: is it compatible?

Yes. The manufacturer added the R 12 G/S to this code's list in 2025: it shares the handlebar with the R nineT Scrambler and Urban G/S family.

I have a standard R nineT, not a Scrambler: will it fit?

The manufacturer specifies this code for the Scrambler and the Urban G/S, not for the R nineT in its other versions. If you have a different R nineT, write to us with the year and we will check.

Do handguards clash with a motorcycle with a classic look?

It’s your aesthetic choice, but the frame is painted black specifically to be discreet on these bikes, and with matching plastics the result stays clean. Anyone who uses the Scrambler or Urban G/S on unpaved roads still has a practical reason: the lever is just as exposed as on an adventure bike.

Are the protective plastic parts included?

No. The BHG-064 is the mounting hardware only: aluminum bars, clamps, and screws. The plastic components are selected and purchased separately.

What plastics can I install on it?

Four series: JET with a compact profile, VPS with an adjustable deflector, STORM with extended coverage, and CARBON in fiber. EGO plastics are not compatible.

What finish does it have?

Black powder-coated. The official code is BHG-064-BK, and for this kit the manufacturer offers only the black finish.

Does it protect the lever in a fall?

Yes. It has two attachment points, and the manufacturer states that heat treatment of the aluminum is intended to add strength and protection against impacts.

Do I need to remove the original counterweights?

The structure attaches to the end of the handlebar, so the original bar-end weights must be removed. The official instructions attached to the product page show the correct sequence.

I installed an aftermarket handlebar: does it fit the same way?

The manufacturer states compatibility with motorcycles in their original factory configuration. On this family of motorcycles, the handlebar is often the first part to be changed, so if you do not have the stock one, the fitment must be checked on a case-by-case basis before purchase.

What will I find in the package?

The two black-painted aluminum bars, clamps, and mounting hardware. No protective plastic.

My model is listed, but the year isn’t: will it still fit?

We never expand the year range by inference: if yours is not among those listed, contact us with the chassis number and trim level, and we will verify it before ordering.
