Description Barkbusters STM-007-NP universal mounting kit for 6 or 8 mm threaded handlebars

The STM-007-NP is the single-point mounting frame that screws into the handlebar's internal thread, where the factory bar-end weight is fitted. It requires a 6 or 8 mm thread: the kit covers both sizes. It is not a complete handguard.

Royal Enfield Himalayan: the manufacturer reports that Royal Enfield fits two types of handlebar to this motorcycle. With a hollow end, you need the STM-005-NP; with a threaded end, you need this code. Check the motorcycle itself, not the model.

The plastic guards are NOT included

The manufacturer lists four series as compatible with this kit: JET-003, VPS-203, STM-003 and BCF-003. EGO guards are not compatible.

Single-point: protects against the weather, not impacts

Barkbusters states that single-point products are designed solely for protection against the weather.

Installation

Specified torque values: 10 Nm for the M6 hardware and 28 Nm for the M8 hardware. The pre-applied threadlocker is intended for a single installation: if you remove the parts, it must be reapplied. On some motorcycles, including several Yamaha models, the manufacturer requires replacing the original bar-end weight with the threaded adapter B-083.

Who is it recommended for

A chi ha un manubrio con filetto interno da 6 o 8 mm, cioè la maggior parte delle stradali e delle adventure con contrappeso avvitato, e vuole scegliere da sé la protezione.

A chi ha la sezione dritta del manubrio già occupata da comandi e accessori.

Non è la scelta giusta per chi cerca protezione della leva in caduta, né per chi ha il manubrio cavo senza filetto: in quel caso serve lo STM-005-NP.

Assembly and documents

Le istruzioni ufficiali INS-STM-007 sono allegate a questa scheda.

  1. Svita e rimuovi i contrappesi originali dall estremità del manubrio.
  2. Verifica la misura del filetto: 6 o 8 mm. Su alcune Triumph è da 5 mm e va forato e rifilettato a 6, in officina.
  3. Scegli l adattatore e il bullone della lunghezza corrispondente alla tua filettatura.
  4. Monta il telaio in alluminio, destro o sinistro secondo il lato, avvitandolo nel filetto interno.
  5. Monta la plastica che hai scelto, seguendo le istruzioni della serie corrispondente.
  6. Serra alle coppie indicate: 10 Nm per la viteria M6, 28 Nm per la M8.
  7. Controlla il funzionamento di gas, freno anteriore, frizione e interruttore di arresto prima di partire, poi ricontrolla il serraggio dopo i primi 50 km.

Il frenafiletti preapplicato sui bulloni vale per un solo montaggio: se smonti e rimonti, riapplica frenafiletti nuovo di media resistenza. Il produttore considera il montaggio dei paramani un intervento rilevante per la sicurezza, da affidare a un tecnico se non hai dimestichezza.

Are the protective plastic parts included?

No. The STM-007-NP is the mounting structure only: aluminum frame, adapters, spacers, and hardware. The plastic components are selected and purchased separately.

What plastics can I install on it?

Four series, all stated by the manufacturer: JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON. This is a broader range than the clamp kits, which accept only STORM and CARBON. EGO models are not compatible.

How can I tell if my handlebar is internally threaded?

Unscrew the bar-end weight and check: if it was screwed into a thread cut inside the handlebar, that is the internal thread required for this kit. If the tube is open and smooth instead, you need the STM-005-NP.

I have a Royal Enfield Himalayan: which code do I need?

It depends on the handlebar, and the manufacturer explicitly states this: Royal Enfield fits two types of handlebars on the Himalayan. For a hollow end, you need the STM-005-NP; for a threaded end, this STM-007-NP. Unscrew the bar end weight and look inside before ordering.

I have a Triumph: is that okay?

With one clarification that the manufacturer explicitly makes: some Triumph models have a 5 mm internal thread instead of a 6 or 8 mm one. In that case, the hole must be drilled and retapped to 6 mm, and this is workshop work.

What is the difference compared with the STM-005-NP?

How they are mounted. The STM-007-NP screws into a 6 or 8 mm internal thread; the STM-005-NP uses an expansion lock inside a hollow handlebar, that is, without a thread. The frame, compatible plastics, and level of protection are identical.

Does it protect the lever in a fall?

No. Barkbusters specifies that single-point products are designed only for protection from the elements. For lever protection in a fall, two-point kits are required.

What is the B-083 threaded adapter?

It is an adapter that replaces the original counterweight and provides the thread onto which to screw the handguard. The manufacturer specifies it for certain motorcycles, including several Yamaha models, in its installation instructions. If your motorcycle is among them, it must be purchased separately: write to us and we will check.

Is it compatible with both 6 mm and 8 mm threads?

Yes, the kit covers both sizes: the package includes adapters and bolts of different lengths specifically to fit the 6 mm and 8 mm threads.

If I disassemble and reassemble the kit, is that okay?

One precaution the manufacturer points out: the bolts have pre-applied threadlocker, which is intended for a single installation. If you remove and reinstall them, apply new medium-strength threadlocker.

What will I find in the package?

The right and left aluminum frame with the locking cap, adapters and bolts for 6 mm and 8 mm threads, spacers, and hardware with pre-applied threadlocker. No protective plastic.

What’s the difference compared with the complete STM-007?

Only the plastics. The complete STM-007 also includes the black STORM plastics; this is the same frame without them, and it lets you choose from four different series.
