Description Barkbusters BHG-002 universal mounting kit for tapered handlebars

The BHG-002 is the only two-point mounting structure for tapered handlebars: heat-treated aluminum bars, clamps, and hardware. It is not a complete handguard.

Protective plastics are NOT included

This is the first thing to know before ordering, and it is also why this product exists. Barkbusters sells the structure and protection separately, so you can choose the shell your motorcycle and riding needs require, and replace it over time without rebuilding the system.

The manufacturer declares four series compatible with this structure:

EGO plastics are not compatible: they fit exclusively on EGO structures.

Two mounting points

The bar acts as a bridge between the handlebar end and a clamp on the tapered section. The manufacturer states that the heat treatment of the aluminum adds strength and impact protection: this is the configuration Barkbusters specifies for lever protection in a crash.

Who is it recommended for

A chi ha un manubrio conico e vuole decidere da sé quale protezione montare, invece di prendere l abbinamento già deciso da un kit completo.

A chi ha già in casa delle plastiche Barkbusters e gli serve solo la struttura.

Non è la scelta giusta per chi vuole una soluzione pronta: in quel caso conviene un paramano completo, dove le plastiche sono già incluse.

E non va su Renthal Twin Wall e Barkbusters VSBar, esclusi dal produttore.

Assembly and documents

Le istruzioni ufficiali INS-BHG-002-NP sono allegate a questa scheda.

  1. Verifica che il manubrio sia conico e non rientri fra le esclusioni dichiarate, Renthal Twin Wall e Barkbusters VSBar.
  2. Rimuovi i contrappesi originali. Se le manopole sono chiuse all estremità vanno aperte, perché la struttura si ancora dentro il manubrio.
  3. Monta il morsetto sulla sezione conica senza serrare.
  4. Fissa la barra in alluminio all estremità del manubrio e al morsetto, poi portala in posizione e serra.
  5. Monta le plastiche che hai scelto, seguendo le istruzioni della serie corrispondente.
  6. Verifica il funzionamento di gas, freno anteriore, frizione e interruttore di arresto prima di partire, poi ricontrolla il serraggio dopo i primi 50 km.

Frenafiletti di media resistenza su tutti i fissaggi. Il produttore considera il montaggio dei paramani un intervento rilevante per la sicurezza, da affidare a un tecnico se non hai dimestichezza.

Are the protective plastic parts included?

No, and it's the most important thing to know. The BHG-002 is the mounting structure only: aluminum bars, clamps, and hardware. The protective plastic components are selected and purchased separately.

What plastics can I install on it?

Four series, all stated by the manufacturer: JET with a compact profile, VPS with an adjustable deflector, STORM with extended coverage, and CARBON in fiber. Change the plastic and you change the character of the handguard, while keeping the same structure.

Why buy the frame and plastics separately instead of a complete kit?

Because you choose the protection. With a complete kit, you get the plastic the manufacturer paired with it; here, you decide whether you want maximum wind protection, a compact profile for off-road riding, an adjustable deflector, or carbon fiber. And over time, you can change it without replacing the entire system.

How can I tell if my handlebar is tapered?

A tapered handlebar widens toward the center: the clamping area on the plate is thicker, while the ends where the grips go remain 22 mm. If the diameter is uniform along the entire length, the handlebar is straight, in which case you need the BHG-001.

I have a Renthal Twin Wall or a Barkbusters VSBar: can it be installed?

No. The manufacturer explicitly excludes the Renthal Twin Wall and the Barkbusters VSBar, and there is no adapter for the tapered version.

Is the specific code for my motorcycle required?

No. The BHG-002 has a universal mounting system: what matters is that the handlebar is tapered and not among the exclusions. This is the difference compared with the specific BHG and BLG kits, where the code is linked to the brand, model, and year.

Does it protect against drops?

Yes. It has two attachment points, and the manufacturer states that the heat treatment of the aluminum is specifically intended to add strength and protection against impacts. The bar bridges the gap between the end of the handlebar and the clamp, protecting the lever.

Can I install the EGO plastics on it?

No. EGO plastics can only be fitted to EGO frames. JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON fit this frame.

Is it available in black?

The manufacturer also offers the black powder-coated version, code BHG-002-BK. This listing is for the natural aluminum version. If you need the black one, write to us and we will check availability with the supplier.

Should I remove the bar ends or cut off the grips?

The original bar-end weights must be removed because the structure attaches to the end of the handlebar, and if the grips are closed at the ends, they must be opened. The Barkbusters replacement for the bar-end weights is catalog code B-066.

What will I find in the package?

The two aluminum bars, the clamps for the tapered section of the handlebar, and all the mounting hardware. No protective plastic.

Do I need to recheck the tightening after installation?

Yes. Barkbusters asks you to check the tightness of all screws again after the first 50 km and recommends using a medium-strength threadlocker on all fasteners.
