Headlight protection for BMW R 1300 GS Adventure

No, it’s not a matter of a few millimeters: the Adventure’s front end has its own design and different mounting points from the standard GS. This is the CDBH151, designed for the Adventure from 2024 onward.

No. The screen protrudes in front of the headlight assembly and remains within the beak’s outline, below the windscreen and inside the crash bars. In the installation photos on this product page, the motorcycle has crash bars, handguards, and auxiliary lights installed, and the protection fits alongside everything without touching.

No. The metal brackets attach to the mounting points already present on the front, with no drilling or cutting, and are designed to keep the screen firmly in place even at highway speeds, when a poorly secured protective panel starts to vibrate.

The installation is completely reversible: if you sell the motorcycle, you can remove everything without leaving a trace. LOBOO provides a dedicated installation guide, which we can also send you before purchase if you would like to assess the process at your leisure.

There’s no need to take anything apart. The frame stays attached to the motorcycle, and the lens lifts thanks to a magnetic attachment: open it with one hand, wipe the headlight and the inner face of the screen, then put it back in place.

That’s the difference compared with bolted-on protectors, which have to be removed with tools to be cleaned. In practice, no one does it, so insects and dust remain trapped between the screen and the headlight for the entire season: the light gradually becomes weaker, and you only notice it the first time you ride at night on an unlit road.

Better not on the lens. A close-range high-pressure jet forces dirt between the screen and headlight and, if the surface is dusty, the sand it carries scratches the polycarbonate.

The right way is also the fastest: open the lens at the magnetic attachment, wet it, wash it with water and mild detergent, and dry it with a soft cloth. Thirty seconds, and you also clean the inside, which is what really reduces the light.

Any screen placed in front of you absorbs some of the light, and it would be misleading to tell you otherwise. With the Clear lens, the loss is minimal and imperceptible while driving: the polycarbonate is engineered for high light transmission with minimal distortion, specifically to avoid blurring the low-beam cutoff.

With Light Grey, and especially Chrome, the reduction is real and visible: these are aesthetic choices, not technical ones. If you drive many miles at night outside built-up areas, choose Clear.

Polycarbonate is softer than glass, so it can indeed get scratched. In practice, though, almost all marks come not from the road but from cleaning: wiping a dusty surface with a dry cloth, rough sponges, and especially products containing alcohol or solvents, which irreversibly cloud the material much faster than UV rays do.

Always wet it first, then use water and a neutral detergent with a soft cloth. Under a strong stone impact, the lens may get marked or, at worst, crack, but it will not explode into shards like acrylic would: it is the sacrificial part, and that is its job. After a significant impact, hold it up to the light, because an extensive crack can alter the beam, in which case it must be replaced.

LOBOO does not state the weight or dimensions of this part, and we prefer not to estimate them. What we can tell you is that it consists of a polycarbonate lens on two metal brackets: its impact on the motorcycle’s weight is negligible.

No, it only covers the motorcycle’s main headlight. The auxiliary lights mounted on the crash bars remain uncovered: for those, you need the grilles or lens covers designed for the specific light model you have.

LOBOO does not list the lens as a separate replacement part: code CDBH151 includes the screen, brackets, and hardware. After a strong impact, therefore, the complete set must be replaced.

It is worth remembering why it is still worthwhile: the lens is the sacrificial part, and it costs a fraction of the optical assembly it protects.
