Description LOBOO ALPS 46 L – IPX7 Waterproof Motorcycle Rear Bag, 3-in-1

The 46 L ALPS LOBOO Rear Bag (code BWB46TBK) is the most protective in the range: its composite TPU fabric with an airtight zipper gives it an IPX7 rating, covering brief immersion as well as water jets.

It attaches using the included four quick-release straps, adjustable from 40 to 65 cm, to four anchoring points on the tail section: no luggage rack is required. It measures 530 × 310 × 280 mm and includes a 1.5 L hydration bladder housed in a dedicated upper pocket, so you can drink while riding without opening the luggage.

Key features

  • 46-liter capacity, 530 × 310 × 280 mm
  • IPX7 waterproofing for the main compartment, with an airtight zipper
  • 1.5 L hydration bladder included, in a dedicated upper pocket
  • 3-in-1 versatility: rear bag, backpack with dual shoulder straps, or handheld duffel bag
  • Side air-release valve to compact the load
  • MOLLE system and multidirectional reflective panels
  • Abrasion- and tear-resistant fabric, with a stated resistance of up to 200 kg

Good to know: the external pocket is not waterproof. LOBOO recommends it for small items used frequently; the IPX7 rating applies to the main compartment with the airtight zipper closed.

If you are looking for more capacity, consider the Wanderer 50L Rear Bag; if IPX6 with a classic roll-top closure is sufficient, the 40L Waterproof Rear Bag costs less. The same ALPS series also includes the 18L TPU Add-On Bag.

Why choose it
  • IPX7 Waterproof: the highest rating in the range, it also covers brief immersion. Composite TPU with a hermetic zipper on the main compartment.
  • Mounts without a rack: four 40-65 cm quick-release straps and two 30 cm elastic buckles, all included.
  • 1.5 L hydration bladder included: in a dedicated top pocket, for drinking without stopping.
  • 3-in-1 Versatility: rear bag, backpack with double shoulder straps, or hand duffel bag.
  • Air release valve: expels excess air and compacts the load for a more stable grip.
  • 46 L in 530 × 310 × 280 mm: capacity for long trips without resorting to side panniers.
Who is it recommended for

It's the most protective bag in the range. You need it if:

  • You travel with electronics, documents, or camera gear and IPX6 isn't enough
  • You don't have a pannier rack and don't want to buy one: this bag attaches with straps to four anchor points
  • You take long trips and want to be able to drink without stopping
  • You need a bag that also works for walking, as a backpack or duffel bag

If you're looking for more volume, consider the Wanderer 50L; if IPX6 with a classic roll-top is sufficient, the 40L Waterproofcosts less. From the same series, there is also the ALPS 18L TPU.

Documents and manufacturer

Use and notes

  • The IPX7 rating declared by the manufacturer refers to the main compartment with the airtight zipper closed. The external pocket is not waterproof.
  • LOBOO warning:position the fastening straps away from the exhaust pipe.
  • LOBOO warning:secure any excess webbing with Velcro, so that it does not get caught in the wheel or chain.
  • Check that the airtight zipper is completely closed before starting your journey.
  • The declared fabric strength (200 kg) is not the allowed load: always respect the load capacity of the tail section or luggage rack indicated by the motorcycle manufacturer.
  • The load must not cover the license plate and tail lights or protrude beyond the limits established by the Highway Code.

How does it work, in detail?

IPX7: the highest rating in the range

IPX7: the highest rating in the range

The composite TPU fabric and watertight zipper give the ALPS an IPX7 rating, the highest level in the LOBOO catalog: it also covers brief immersion, not just high-pressure water jets like IPX6. It is the choice for anyone traveling with electronics, documents, or photographic equipment who does not want to pack everything separately.

The rating applies to the main compartment with the zipper fully closed. The external pocket, however, is not waterproof: LOBOO recommends it for small items used frequently, not for anything that needs to stay dry.

A 1.5 L water bladder, already included

A 1.5 L water bladder, already included

This is the feature that sets the ALPS apart from ordinary dry bags. The 1.5 L reservoir fits into a dedicated upper pocket, and the tube exits at shoulder height: drink on the move without opening your luggage or putting your feet on the ground.

On a long leg, it changes the pace more than you might think: drinking stops are what break up the journey without adding miles. The reservoir is included in the price; it’s not an accessory you have to buy separately.

It can be mounted without a luggage rack

The package includes 4 adjustable quick-release straps measuring 40–65 cm and 2 elastic 30 cm extension buckles. They attach to four anchor points on the sides of the tail section: there is no need to purchase a frame, plate, or luggage rack.

LOBOO offers two procedures. In the first, point A of the strap connects to the female buckle on the bag body; in the second, the straps pass through the channel built into the lid. In both cases, keep the straps away from the exhaust and secure the excess webbing with the Velcro so it cannot get caught in the wheel or chain.

The valve that removes the air and stops the load

The valve that removes the air and stops the load

Once the airtight zipper is closed, air remains inside. When the bag is half full, this creates a bulging volume that the straps cannot truly hold in place and that starts moving on rough asphalt.

The side valve solves the problem: open it, compress the bag, let the air out, and the load becomes compact. The bag sits lower, the center of gravity drops, and the straps regain their grip on a rigid volume. That is the action that makes the difference between luggage that stays put and luggage that wobbles.

MOLLE, reflective, and the pocket to know about

MOLLE, reflective, and the pocket to know about

On the sides, you’ll find the MOLLE system for attaching pouches, a bottle holder, or anything else you want to keep close at hand. Inside, there are several pockets for separating clean clothes from the rest. The multidirectional reflective panels make the bag visible from behind and from the side in the dark.

One thing needs to be made clear: the external pocket is not waterproof, as LOBOO itself states. It’s suitable for spare gloves, tickets, or a snack. Your phone, documents, and charger should go in the main compartment, behind the waterproof zipper.

Three ways to wear it, only one to buy

Three ways to wear it, only one to buy

On the motorcycle, it’s a 46 L rear bag. Unfasten the straps and it becomes a backpack with padded shoulder straps, or a hand-held duffel bag with the top handle. You don’t need to transfer anything: whatever you loaded in the morning arrives in your room exactly as it is.

When fully loaded, the 46 L backpack is demanding over long distances on foot, but for the walk from the parking lot to the hotel or from the campsite to your pitch, it makes the most awkward journey of the day much easier.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

What is the difference between IPX7 and the IPX6 rating of the other bags?

IPX7 is the higher rating: it also covers brief immersion, while IPX6 stops at high-pressure water jets. The ALPS 46L uses composite TPU fabric with a waterproof zipper and is the most protective choice in the range for those traveling with electronics or documents.

Is the 1.5 L water bladder included?

Yes, it’s included and fits into a dedicated upper pocket, with quick access while riding. It’s the feature that sets the ALPS apart from standard dry bags: drinking without stopping changes the pace of long rides.

Do you need a rack to mount it?

No. The bag is secured with the four supplied quick-release straps, attached to four anchor points on the sides of the tail section. LOBOO provides two methods: in the first, point A of the strap connects to the female buckle on the bag body; in the second, the straps pass through the channel in the lid. A luggage rack is not necessary, but if you have one, you can use it as a support surface.

How much space is needed on the motorcycle’s tail?

The base measures 53 × 31 cm and is 28 cm high. You therefore need a support surface of at least 53 × 31 cm between the passenger seat and the luggage rack, plus four anchoring points reachable by straps that fasten at lengths between 40 and 65 cm. On motorcycles with a short rear section, it is best to measure before ordering: write to us and we’ll check together.

Is the outer pocket waterproof too?

No, and the manufacturer states this explicitly. The IPX7 rating applies to the main compartment, which is sealed with a watertight zipper. The external pocket is intended for small items used frequently; in the rain, do not put your phone, documents, or electronics in it.

How many straps are included, and how long are they?

The kit includes 4 quick-release straps adjustable from 40 to 65 cm and 2 elastic 30 cm extension buckles. LOBOO recommends positioning them away from the exhaust and securing the excess webbing with the Velcro so it cannot get caught in the wheel or chain.

What is the side valve used for?

It is an air-release valve. After closing the airtight zipper, the compartment remains full of air: by opening the valve and compressing the bag, you expel the excess air, compact the load, and the straps hold it much better. It is especially useful when the bag is not full.

Can it be used as a backpack or a duffel bag?

Yes, it’s the 3-in-1 system: double shoulder straps for carrying it as a backpack, a handle for carrying it by hand, and straps for securing it to the motorcycle. With 46 L at full capacity, the backpack is demanding over long distances on foot, but it solves the journey from the parking lot to the room without having to transfer anything.
