A traditional crash-bar bag is essentially a pouch attached to the engine guard: it adds volume where the motorcycle has space available, and that is all. LOBOO's inflatable Wanderer bags start from the same concept but add an element with no direct equivalent on the market: an internal TPU chamber that, once inflated through its dedicated valve, turns the bag into an air cushion.

The principle concerns the physics of a slow fall, the kind that really happens: a wrong maneuver in a sloping parking lot, a foot slipping on gravel, or loose ground giving way beneath the front wheel at five miles per hour. In these cases, the motorcycle does not suffer a violent impact but comes to rest on the ground with all its weight. Crash bar compatibility

The BHGB05T is designed for 25 mm tubing, which is effectively the industry standard for adventure and dual-sport motorcycle crash bars, including LOBOO’s. The interesting point, however, is not the diameter but the geometry. Crash bars are not all the same, and the LOBOO mounting system was designed precisely with this in mind.

The mounting bracket has five selectable positioning points: choose the one that matches the shape of your engine guard, and the bag will align correctly without forcing it, whether the frame is triangular, quadrangular, or irregular.

The practical advice remains simple: measure the outside diameter of your tubing with a caliper before ordering and check how much free linear space you have available on the side where you want to mount the bag. How we tested the bags

Protection

In slow-speed falls, the air chamber does exactly what it promises: the bag makes contact first, the motorcycle rests at a more open angle, and the tubular frame never comes into direct contact with the ground. This is a real but limited benefit at low speed: in a violent impact, the bag collapses and the crash bar once again takes the full load.

Waterproofing

No infiltration. The 0.6 mm composite TPU fabric on an 840D mesh base, together with the waterproof zipper, kept all the contents dry even after two hours of heavy rain and crossings through shallow water. The IPX7 rating is not marketing: it means protection against immersion, not merely resistance to splashes.

Pressure retention

The stated figure is conservative. LOBOO specifies a protective-function duration of no less than 6 hours per inflation, and that is the number that serves as the minimum guarantee; in our test, the air chamber was still fully pressurized after 8 hours, and several customers report that their bags are still inflated the following day. It remains good practice to perform a quick check at the start of the day on long trips.

Inflation requires no pumps or accessories: open the valve with one finger, repeatedly press the integrated pump until the desired firmness is reached, and close the valve. Thirty seconds per side.

Capacity

Six liters per side is exactly right for what these bags are intended for: a puncture repair kit, mini compressor, spare gloves, chain and padlock, snacks, cables, and chain lubricant. They are not a substitute for panniers, nor do they claim to be.

The waterproof zipper and the mistake to avoid

The waterproof zipper is the feature that ensures the IPX7 rating and is also the most delicate component of the bag. Pinch it between your index and middle fingers and pull it along the guide; do not grip it from the side with your fingers. It may seem like an insignificant detail, but it is the difference between a zipper that slides smoothly for years and one that starts to snag after a season.

There is, however, a second point that is more important and easy to overlook. When you close the bag, the internal pressure of the cargo compartment must be equal to the ambient pressure: if you compress the contents and seal it with excess air inside, the zipper remains under constant strain and its service life is significantly shortened. Inflation applies to the dedicated air chamber, not the compartment where you put your belongings.

Cable anti-theft system

The BHGB05T integrates a lockable cable that secures the bag to the crash bar. LOBOO explicitly describes it as a primary anti-theft measure: it deters opportunistic snatch-and-grab theft during a stop but does not replace a serious security system. The cylinder can be coded to the same key number as the LOBOO aluminum cases, so you can travel with a single key for all your luggage.

Buckles and nighttime visibility

The buckles are Duraflex, a recognized standard in the outdoor industry: they can be opened while wearing gloves, have no play, and withstand continuous opening and closing. The high-visibility reflective inserts on the outer panels highlight the motorcycle's side profile, the angle at which a large adventure bike is least visible at night.

Comparison with the alternatives

It is worth clarifying that the rows are not competing options: the most sensible setup on a touring maxi enduro is structural crash bars with the inflatable bags mounted on top. The air protection works in the range where the tubing alone is not enough to prevent scratches and dents to the fairing.

Step-by-step installation

1. Choose the bracket mounting point based on the shape of your crash bar, from the five available positions.
2. Tighten the bracket onto the engine guard tubing.
3. Pass the straps around the crash bar, following the geometry of the subframe.
4. Fasten the buckles in sequence and adjust the webbing length until the bag has no slack or rotation.
5. Inflate the air chamber until it is firm but not excessively rigid, then check that the bag does not interfere with levers, radiator, lights, or your legs.
6. After 15–20 minutes, check the strap tension again and retighten if necessary: the fabric settles.
