Technical specifications, equipment, delivery, and warranty: find every detail, verified against official LOBOO documentation, below.

Description LOBOO P35L P35R side cases for BMW S 1000 XR

The LOBOO PIKE TRACKER side cases for the BMW S 1000 XR are a pair of 35-liter-per-side aluminum alloy cases, supplied with JP062B stainless steel side frames specific to this motorcycle. The right case has an inner side shaped to clear the exhaust: this is what makes it possible to mount a hard luggage set on a motorcycle that was not designed with mounting provisions. The JP062B frames are discontinued, and LOBOO no longer offers a side support for the S 1000 XR in its catalog.

Why choose these LOBOO cases

The body is made of high-strength aluminum alloy, chosen by the manufacturer to be more flexible rather than more rigid: in a low-speed fall, a shell that deforms absorbs part of the impact before transferring it to the mounts. The four lower corners are wrapped in high-strength engineering plastic, which has more friction than metal and tends to stop the motorcycle instead of letting it slide.

The lock is a sealed, dustproof five-lever cylinder, and the key is retractable, with its number stamped on the duplicate: if all the keys are lost, simply provide that number to have replacements made without replacing the locks. The reflective strips are high-visibility 3M film, positioned on the sides and rear, where they show the motorcycle's actual loaded width at night.

What the configuration includes

Configurations with side cases include the left P35L case, the right P35R case shaped to clear the exhaust, the pair of JP062B stainless steel frames, the keys, and the mounting hardware specified in the original equipment package. The left lid has a fabric organizer pocket with compartments; the right lid has an elastic mesh. Both have scratch-resistant inner linings and a hinge with an opening stop, which prevents the lid from hitting the side of the case.

The rear top case and its JP062W frame are not included, except in configurations that mention them in the variant name. The padded backrest is provided by the manufacturer only for the top case, not for the side cases.

Compatibility and tail-section verification

LOBOO specifies the JP062B frames for the BMW S 1000 XR from 2021 onward. Installation requires no drilling and uses the motorcycle's original mounting points.

The top case has an additional requirement: it can only be installed if the motorcycle has a specific type of original tail section. With the other tail section, the top case cannot be installed. The manufacturer specifically asks customers to verify this before purchasing: if in doubt, send us a photo of the tail section and we will check it with you.

Usage limitations

LOBOO states that water does not enter even during a downpour, but it does not certify any IP rating for the cases: no technical sheet or manufacturer price list specifies one. The only IP value in the documentation is IP54 for the light with sensor, which applies to the light and not the case. An internal waterproof bag is recommended for electronics and documents.

The manufacturer does not specify a maximum load for each case: the applicable reference is the maximum permitted load stated in the motorcycle owner's manual, bearing in mind that the empty cases alone already weigh 12 kg as a pair, excluding the frames. With the cases installed, the lateral width increases significantly.

Measurements and weights are those declared by LOBOO based on manual measurement and may differ from the actual product within normal tolerances. Where the manufacturer does not provide a figure, we identify it as not specified rather than estimating it.

Why choose it
Who is it recommended for

Documents and manufacturer

What are the PIKE TRACKER like?

The cut-out side of the right suitcase is why the set fits.

The cut-out side of the right suitcase is why the set fits.

On an S 1000 XR, the exhaust runs high and to the right, which is where most universal sets fall short: the pannier is there, but it doesn’t clear the exhaust outlet. LOBOO calls this shape the Avoiding Exhaust Design, which in practice means that the inner side of the right pannier is recessed to leave room for the exhaust.

The practical consequence is that the two panniers are not symmetrical and cannot be swapped. The left one is full-sized, the right one is shaped, and the stated thirty-five liters is the usable volume of each after the cutout, not a theoretical capacity before shaping.

Aluminum works by bending, not resisting.

Aluminum works by bending, not resisting.

The manufacturer describes the body as a high-strength aluminum alloy chosen to be more flexible, not more rigid. It is a deliberate choice: in a low-speed fall, a rigid shell transfers the impact to the mounts and the motorcycle subframe, while a shell that deforms absorbs part of the blow before transmitting it.

In practice, this means that after a slide in a parking lot, you expect a dent in the case rather than a bent frame. It is also why the bottom is protected by added-on edges instead of being reinforced with more metal.

The beveled edges are the ones that make contact first.

The beveled edges are the ones that make contact first.

The four lower corners are covered with a high-strength engineering plastic shell mounted over the aluminum. This is not an aesthetic finish: in a slide, the first point of contact with the asphalt is always a lower corner, and plastic has more friction than metal.

A metal corner slides and drags the motorcycle; a plastic corner brakes it and tends to stop it sooner. It is also the part that, if it wears out, can be replaced without touching the body of the case.

The lock has five levers and is above the water.

The lock has five levers and is above the water.

The manufacturer describes the cylinder as weatherproof and dustproof, with five internal discs and a very low relock rate. The combination matters more than the individual features: an outdoor motorcycle lock almost always fails because water and dust get into the cylinder, not because someone forces it.

Five discs offer the level of light security found in a lock, not a padlock: they deter the opportunist, not a well-equipped thief. With an aluminum case, the real protection is that you are there and the motorcycle is moving.

The key folds, and the duplicate has a stamped number.

The key folds, and the duplicate has a stamped number.

The key is CNC-machined, with a folding body and five-position damping during opening. In your pocket, under a coverall, a folding key won’t pierce the lining or dig into your side when you sit down.

But the detail that really matters is something else, and it’s written on the technical panel: a number is stamped on the duplicate. If you lose all the keys, you don’t need to replace the locks; simply provide that number to have the key remade. With a system featuring three different locks, that’s the difference between one phone call and a new box.

Water-resistant, but without an IP rating: what does it really mean?

Water-resistant, but without an IP rating: what does it really mean?

LOBOO states that even during a thunderstorm, no water gets through, and the lid seal together with the watertight cylinder support that claim. This is a manufacturer’s statement, not a certification: no IP rating for the cases appears on any panel or in any official price list.

We state this openly because it is the useful information. The only IP rating in LOBOO’s documentation is the light with sensor’s IP54 rating, which applies to the light, not the case. Anyone transporting material that cannot tolerate even a drop—electronics or documents—should do what they would with any aluminum case: put a watertight bag inside.

The reflective elements are 3M, and they’re for those approaching from behind.

The reflective elements are 3M, and they’re for those approaching from behind.

The strips on the side panels and rear are high-visibility 3M film. It is one of the few details on this page that names a third-party supplier, and it matters more than any adjective: a reflective material’s performance depends on the material, not the design.

The position is right. On a loaded motorcycle, the rear profile is as wide as the panniers, and without side reflectors at night, the driver behind sees two narrow lights and underestimates the vehicle’s width. The strips show its true width.

The lid stops on its own, and the fabric organizer is on the left.

The lid stops on its own, and the fabric organizer is on the left.

The hinge has an opening stop: the lid reaches its limit and stops instead of flipping over and slamming against the side of the case. On an aluminum case, that’s where the first dents appear—and they’re dents you make yourself, in the garage, not on the road.

The left case lid comes standard with a fabric organizer pocket featuring compartments and a mesh section. It’s the place for spare gloves, documents, and a flashlight—things you want to find without emptying the case.

The right side and the top case have an elastic net, not a pocket.

The right side and the top case have an elastic net, not a pocket.

Instead, the right suitcase lid and the top case lid each have a wide elastic mesh net anchored at the four corners. It isn't the same as the organizer: the net holds items in place, while the pocket contains them.

It's a difference worth knowing beforehand, because it determines how you divide the load. Put small items you want to find again in the left side; put flat items you want to secure in the right side and the top case: the map, the spare jacket, the thin stand.

The sensor light turns on when you open it and detaches from the suitcase.

The sensor light turns on when you open it and detaches from the suitcase.

The lid houses an LED light with a motion sensor: open it and it switches on automatically. It has four brightness levels, a flashing mode, and IP54 protection, and it stays attached with magnets.

The magnets are what make it more useful than a fixed ceiling light: detach it and it becomes a camping flashlight or an emergency roadside light, and the package also includes a headband for using it as a headlamp. The LOBOO technical panel lists it as standard equipment for the three-case set; for two-case configurations, ask us to confirm before ordering.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

Will they fit my BMW S 1000 XR?

The side cases with the JP062B frames are declared by the manufacturer for the S 1000 XR from 2021 onward. If yours is earlier, the frame is not the right one. There is an additional condition for the top case: it can only be mounted if the motorcycle has a specific type of original tail section, and it cannot be installed with the other type. If you have any doubts, send us a photo of the tail section before ordering.

Do I need to drill or modify the motorcycle?

No. The frames use the original mounting points of the S 1000 XR. Standard workshop tools are required, along with adherence to the tightening torques specified in the installation instructions.

What do you need besides the suitcases?

It depends on the configuration. Versions with frames already include the JP062B side mount. If you purchase the cases only, the frame must be added; it is a discontinued part available only while supplies last. The top case requires the JP062W frame and plate.

Does the right pannier touch the exhaust?

No, and that is why the set is specific. The inner side of the right pannier is recessed to leave clearance for the exhaust: LOBOO calls this shape the Avoiding Exhaust Design. It is also why the left and right sides are not interchangeable.

Is the top case included in the side pannier set?

No. Configurations with side cases include the two cases and the mounting frames; the top case and its mounting plate are separate. Configurations that include them are explicitly indicated in the variant name.

Is the light with the sensor included?

The LOBOO technical panel lists it as standard equipment for the three-case set. For two-case configurations, we do not state that it is included because the manufacturer does not specify this unambiguously: please ask us to confirm before ordering if it is important to you.

Are the two suitcases identical inside?

No. In the left lid, there is a fabric organizer pocket with compartments; in the right one, there is a large elastic mesh pocket. Both have scratch-resistant inner lining. The top case has the mesh pocket, like the right one.

Are they really waterproof? Do they have an IP rating?

LOBOO states that no water gets in, even during a downpour, and that the lock cylinder is designed to be waterproof and dustproof. However, there is no certified IP rating: it does not appear on any panel or in any of the manufacturer’s price lists. If you are transporting electronics or documents, use an additional waterproof bag inside anyway.

How much weight can I put in it?

LOBOO does not specify a maximum load for each individual case. The reference to use is the maximum permissible load for your S 1000 XR stated in the owner’s manual, bearing in mind that the empty cases alone already weigh six kilograms each, or twelve kilograms per pair, excluding the racks.

Does the lid slam onto the suitcase when I open it?

No. The hinge has an opening stop that holds the lid at its limit. It’s the detail that prevents the dents you accidentally make yourself in the garage—the most common ones on aluminum cases.

Is the 36- or 45-liter top case better?

The 45-liter model has more capacity, but it is also larger and heavier: 430 × 380 × 340 mm and 5.8 kg, compared with 423 × 364 × 343 mm and 5.65 kg for the 36. The real difference isn’t the half kilo; it’s how much space the load takes up behind the passenger’s back. If you often carry a full-face helmet, choose the 45; if you use the top case for everyday needs, the 36 keeps the center of gravity more compact.

What’s the difference between the black and silver ones?

Only the finish: matte black and polished silver are the two official LOBOO names for the exact same aluminum body, with the same dimensions and weight. In practice, matte black hides light scratches better, while polished silver shows fewer fingerprints. The two finishes do not cost the same: check the variant.

Do they get scratched inside by what I put in them?

The compartment is lined with an inner lining designed specifically for this purpose. The obvious advice for an aluminum suitcase still applies: items with metal edges should be wrapped, because the lining protects against scratches, not dents.
