Description Barkbusters BHG-006 universal mounting kit with steering plate attachment

The BHG-006 is the only two-point mounting structure that does not attach to the straight section of the handlebar: the second anchor point is on the upper triple clamp, using its front or side clamping bolts.

The handlebar does not matter

That is why this kit exists. The manufacturer states that it is compatible regardless of handlebar size and type: straight, tapered, short, crowded with controls, or unusually shaped. The package includes handlebar ends for 14 mm and 18 mm internal diameters.

Two stated exclusions

  • Not suitable for Husqvarna models from 2013 onward, KTM, and Husaberg. The manufacturer explicitly excludes them. These motorcycles require model-specific kits or a universal handlebar-mounted kit.
  • Yamaha WR250F, WR450F, YZ250F, and YZ450F with tapered handlebars: the B-086 clamp set for handlebars with a 16 mm internal diameter may be required and must be purchased separately.

The plastics are NOT included, and there are three options

For this code, the manufacturer does not list CARBON, unlike the other two-point kits. We list the options exactly as the manufacturer states them, without extending the list by analogy. EGO plastics are not compatible.

It is a two-point system, and Barkbusters states that this configuration is designed for impact protection.

Who is it recommended for

A chi ha un manubrio che non lascia spazio per un morsetto: corto, molto affollato di comandi, oppure di forma insolita.

A chi vuole un paramano a due punti, con protezione della leva in caduta, senza vincoli sul diametro del manubrio.

Non è la scelta giusta per chi ha una KTM, una Husqvarna dal 2013 in poi o una Husaberg: il produttore le esclude. E nemmeno per chi vuole montare le plastiche CARBON, che su questo codice non sono dichiarate.

Assembly and documents

Le istruzioni ufficiali INS-BHG-006-NP sono allegate a questa scheda.

  1. Verifica che la moto non rientri fra le escluse: Husqvarna dal 2013, KTM e Husaberg.
  2. Controlla che la piastra di sterzo superiore abbia viti di serraggio sul lato anteriore o sui fianchi.
  3. Rimuovi i contrappesi originali. Se le manopole sono chiuse all estremità vanno aperte.
  4. Fissa la staffa alla piastra di sterzo, senza serrare a fondo.
  5. Scegli il terminale della misura corrispondente al diametro interno del tuo manubrio, 14 o 18 mm, e monta la barra in alluminio.
  6. Porta il paramano in posizione, serra tutto e monta la plastica che hai scelto.
  7. Verifica il funzionamento di gas, freno anteriore, frizione e interruttore di arresto, e che lo sterzo giri liberamente da fondo a fondo. Ricontrolla il serraggio dopo i primi 50 km.

Frenafiletti di media resistenza su tutti i fissaggi. Trattandosi anche di viti della piastra di sterzo, se non hai dimestichezza affida il montaggio a un tecnico: il produttore lo considera un intervento rilevante per la sicurezza.

The bracket attaches to the clamping screws of the upper triple clamp, either at the front or on the sides. The second anchor point remains the end of the handlebar. This gives the handguard two mounting points without occupying the straight section, and it works on any handlebar, even short ones or those crowded with controls.

Are the protective plastic parts included?

No. The BHG-006 is only the mounting structure: aluminum bars, plate brackets, end caps, and hardware. The plastic components are purchased separately.

What plastics can I install on it?

Three series: JET, VPS, and STORM. For this kit, the manufacturer does not list CARBON, unlike the other two-point kits. EGO products are not compatible with any structure other than EGO.

Why are the CARBON not listed on this kit?

Barkbusters does not explain this: it simply lists JET, VPS, and STORM for this code, while for BHG-001 and BHG-002 it also includes CARBON. We prefer to report the list as stated by the manufacturer rather than extend it by analogy. If you are interested in carbon, write to us and we will check with the supplier.

I have a KTM, Husqvarna, or Husaberg: will it fit?

No. The manufacturer explicitly excludes Husqvarna from 2013 onward, KTM, and Husaberg. For those bikes, the way to go is model-specific kits or a universal handlebar kit, such as the BHG-001 or BHG-002.

What is a steering plate mount used for?

Mount a two-point handguard without occupying the straight section of the handlebar with a clamp. The bracket uses the upper plate’s clamping bolts, so it also works on short handlebars crowded with controls or with an unusual shape.

Do I need handlebars of a specific size?

No, and that’s the key strength of this kit: the manufacturer states that it is compatible regardless of the handlebar size and type, because the second anchor point is on the plate. The package includes bar-end inserts for handlebars with an internal diameter of 14 and 18 mm.

I have a Yamaha WR or YZ: do I need anything else?

For the WR250F, WR450F, YZ250F, and YZ450F with tapered handlebars, the manufacturer indicates that the B-086 clamp set may be required for handlebars with an inner diameter of 16 mm. It is purchased separately and is listed in the catalog.

How can I tell if my motorcycle has the correct screws on the plate?

Keep the upper steering plate, the one above the forks: it needs clamping bolts on the front or sides. If you’re not sure, send us a photo of the area and we’ll tell you whether the kit can be installed.

Does it protect against drops?

Yes. It has two attachment points, and the manufacturer states that heat treatment of the aluminum is intended to add strength and protection against impacts.

Should I remove the bar ends or cut off the grips?

The original bar-end weights must be removed because the bar also attaches at the end of the handlebar. If the grips are closed at the ends, they must be opened. The Barkbusters replacement for the bar-end weights is item code B-066, listed in the catalog.

What will I find in the package?

The two aluminum bars, the brackets that attach to the steering plate, the bar ends for handlebars with an inner diameter of 14 and 18 mm, and all the hardware. No protective plastic.

Do I need to recheck the tightening after installation?

Yes. Barkbusters asks you to recheck the tightness of all screws after the first 50 km and recommends a medium-strength threadlocker on all fasteners. Since these are steering plate screws, the check should be carried out with particular care.
