Description LOBOO CHG34 Crash Bar for Honda Gold Wing GL1800 | Integrated Spotlight Mounts

The Gold Wing’s six-cylinder boxer engine is its defining character, but it is also the widest part of the motorcycle: in a stationary fall or while maneuvering, the cylinder heads make contact first. Replacing one costs more than this engine guard.

The LOBOO CHG34 crash bar is a pair of lower bars, right and left, that act as a sacrificial cage in front of the engine: they absorb the impact energy instead of the engine covers and front fairings. LOBOO specifies high-strength steel tubing and clean welds, which are the truly critical points on a protection bar.

The difference compared with a generic engine guard lies in the auxiliary-light mounts built directly into the bars: you can install fog lights with an original-equipment look, without additional brackets or clamps that rotate around the tube.

Installation is non-destructive: LOBOO says the design is based on 3D scans of the GL1800 and attaches directly to the frame, without cutting the fairings or modifying the motorcycle’s structure. The brackets are already welded to the frame, so there are no separate plates to assemble.

Available in two finishes at the same price: silver with sandblasted electroless coating, designed to complement the Gold Wing’s exposed aluminum, or black with electrostatic paint. Auxiliary lights and wiring are not included.

Why choose it

How does it work, in detail?

Create a chart based on the GL1800 data

Create a chart based on the GL1800 data

LOBOO states that it developed the CHG34 using original data from the 2020 Honda Gold Wing GL1800, starting with 3D scans of the motorcycle. It is not a universal bar bent to make it fit: the holes align with the frame’s designated mounting points.

GL1800 models from before 2020 are not among those specified by the manufacturer: check the year before ordering.

Look at the weld: that’s where a paramotor is judged.

Look at the weld: that’s where a paramotor is judged.

On a crash bar, the tube rarely bends on its own: what gives way is the weld between two sections. LOBOO shows the joint up close and presents full, even welds as part of its craftsmanship.

It’s the detail to compare when you’re evaluating two crash bars at the same price: the difference is visible here, not in the technical specifications.

Install without touching the fairings

Install without touching the fairings

The bar bolts onto the Gold Wing’s existing frame mounting points: no cutting the fairing, no modifications to the motorcycle’s structure. The manufacturer describes it as a non-destructive installation.

On a motorcycle you keep for years and then resell, it’s the difference between an accessory and a permanent modification: it can be removed without leaving a trace.

Add the spotlights to the existing fixture.

The bar has a dedicated position for auxiliary lighting: the spotlight mounts there, centered and aligned with the front, without universal brackets or zip ties that rotate around the tube at the first bump.

The result is an installation with an original-looking appearance. The spotlights and wiring are not included: they appear in the manufacturer's images for demonstration purposes.

Choose the finish by looking at it on the motorcycle

The black version is electrostatically painted and blends into the engine block; the silver version is achieved through sandblasted electrolysis and matches the exposed aluminum of the Gold Wing, including the chrome accents.

It’s the same product and costs the same; only the surface treatment differs. On a dark motorcycle, the black goes unnoticed, while on light-colored liveries, the silver looks more coherent.

Observe the actual bulk of the Gold Wing

The manufacturer's images show the bar mounted on GL1800 models in different colors, from the side and front, with and without auxiliary lights. They help illustrate how far it protrudes beyond the fairings and how visible it is when stationary.

The bar sits in front of the six-cylinder heads, which on the Gold Wing are the most protruding part and the first to touch down in a stationary fall.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

Which Gold Wing is the CHG34 compatible with?

For the Honda Gold Wing GL1800 from 2020 onward. LOBOO states that this product was developed using 3D scans of this motorcycle, so it is not an adapted universal bar. Earlier model years are not among the listed models: if you have a GL1800 from before 2020, contact us before ordering.

Is it the front bar or the side bar?

It is the front engine protection, the part that sits in front of the cylinders. LOBOO classifies it as a front engine guard for the GL1800 and does not sell it as a set with other bars: what you receive is this item.

What exactly does it protect?

The cylinder heads of the six-cylinder boxer engine and the front fairings—that is, the parts that make contact first when the Gold Wing tips over during a maneuver or while stationary. LOBOO describes the bar as a sacrificial structure: it takes the damage instead of the engine covers.

Can I mount auxiliary spotlights on it?

Yes, and that’s one of the reasons this bar stands out: the mounting points for the spotlights are already built into the structure, so no additional brackets or cable ties are needed. However, the spotlights and wiring are not included and must be selected separately.

Is it necessary to cut the fairings to install it?

No. LOBOO states that it uses a non-destructive installation: the bar bolts directly to the frame without cutting the fairings or modifying the motorcycle’s structure. Once removed, the Gold Wing returns to its original configuration.

What material is it made of?

High-strength steel, as stated by the manufacturer. For this product code, LOBOO does not mention stainless steel, unlike some of its other crash bars: we prefer to report what it says rather than extend a feature from another product.

What’s the difference between the silver and black finishes?

Only the surface treatment differs, and the price is identical. The silver finish is achieved through sandblasted electrolysis and is designed to complement the Gold Wing’s exposed aluminum; the black finish is electrostatically painted and blends in with the frame.

What is the diameter of the tube?

The manufacturer does not specify it for this code. It is especially important to know if you plan to attach bags or clamp-on accessories to the bars: ask us before ordering, and we’ll measure it on a piece in stock.

How much does it weigh?

LOBOO does not state the weight of the CHG34 in the available documentation. We prefer to say so rather than provide an estimate: if you need the figure, contact us and we’ll weigh it in the warehouse.

What’s in the package?

Two lower crash bars, right and left, in the selected finish: black or silver. The mounting brackets are already welded to the structure, so there are no separate plates to assemble.

LOBOO does not publish a numbered hardware list. If you need confirmation before ordering, contact us and we will check a package in stock.

What are the tightening torques?

LOBOO does not publish a torque-specification manual for this code. On a heavy motorcycle like the Gold Wing, proper tightening matters: fit all the brackets without tightening them, align the bars, and only then torque the bolts. Recheck after the first few rides.

Can it support the weight of the Gold Wing if it falls?

The manufacturer does not publish load or impact tests for this part number, so we make no claims about its strength. What it does claim is its function: a sacrificial structure that absorbs the energy of a fall instead of the engine covers. An engine guard reduces damage; it does not eliminate it, and on a motorcycle weighing over 380 kg, the impact is still significant.

Are they the upper bars or the lower ones?

They are the two lower bars that sit low at the front of the engine and protect the cylinder heads and crankcases. LOBOO classifies them as front engine protection for the GL1800.

What you receive is the complete pair, right and left: you do not need to purchase anything else to have lower protection.
