Barkbusters BHG-059 handguard mounting kit for Triumph Tiger 800 and Tiger 1200 Explorer up to 2017

The BHG-059 is the mounting structure that Barkbusters designed for the handlebars of the Triumph Tiger 800, in all seven versions, and the Tiger 1200 Explorer up to 2017. Two heat-treated aluminum bars, clamps, and hardware: it secures the handguard at two points, at the handlebar end and on the straight section.

Structure and plastics are two separate products

This is the point that generates the most returns for this brand, so we will make it clear: the protective plastics are not included in this package. The structure is specific to the motorcycle, while the plastics are chosen separately and remain interchangeable on the same base, even later and in a different color.

EGO plastics have a dedicated structure and cannot be mounted on this base.

Impact protection

Barkbusters distinguishes between two configurations and never combines them: the dual mounting point is intended for impact protection, while the single point is only for wind and weather protection. This kit uses two mounting points, with a wraparound heat-treated aluminum bar.

Compatible models

Compatibility declared by Barkbusters for motorcycles in their original factory configuration. Aftermarket handlebars have different diameters and thicknesses: verify the fitment before purchasing.

If you have a Tiger 1200, check the year

Triumph changed the handlebar more than once, and the kit changed with it.

The Tiger 900 and Tiger 850 Sport are not covered by this code: they have dedicated kits, which also differ depending on the year.

Installation

The official INS-BHG-059-NP instructions are attached to this product page and included in the package. In brief: remove the original Triumph handguard and its metal bracket, position the clamp on the straight section of the handlebar by aligning the internal reference rings, secure the bar at the handlebar end and to the connector, position the bar horizontally, and tighten in the order specified by the manufacturer.

Specified torque values: 10 Nm for the M6 bolts and 28 Nm for the M8 bolts. Apply medium-strength threadlocker to all fasteners and recheck the tightness after the first 50 km. A gap of approximately 3 mm is required between the end of the throttle grip and the handguard so that the throttle can return to its closed position freely.

For the Tiger 800 and 800XC up to 2014, the manufacturer adds two instructions: the handlebar must not be lower than the central mark, preferably two marks above it, and the brake line must run above the clamp with the cables underneath.

What is NOT included

• The protective plastics, to be chosen from JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON.
• The handlebar weights: the original Triumph weights are reused, so keep them when removing the stock handguards.
