Description Barkbusters BHG-093 handguard mounting kit for Honda CRF300 Rally from 2021

The BHG-093 is the Barkbusters mounting kit designed around the handlebar geometry of the Honda CRF300 Rally from 2021 onward. It is the aluminum structure that supports the handguards: it protects your hands, levers, and controls from branches, loose stones, and falls, and stays on the motorcycle even when you change the plastics.

CRF300 Rally only, not CRF300L. The two motorcycles share their engine and chassis, but the Rally has fairing and a windscreen, and the clamp must accommodate them: for the CRF300L, the manufacturer specifies a different code, BHG-091. This is the most common purchasing mistake with these two motorcycles.

As with the entire range, the structure and protective plastics are two separate products: here you are purchasing the structure only, with hardware and handlebar weights.

Key features

  • Two-point mounting — anchoring at the handlebar end plus a clamp on the straight section. This is the configuration the manufacturer specifies for impact protection.
  • Heat-treated aluminum bar, with a wraparound design and natural aluminum finish.
  • Handlebar weights included — unlike the CRF300L version.
  • Specific to the Rally, designed to accommodate the stock fairing and windscreen.
  • Interchangeable plastics — compatible with JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON, each sold separately.
  • Made in Australia by Rideworx Pty Ltd.

Protection and use

The CRF300 Rally is bought for going far on roads that eventually run out: a large tank, a windscreen, and the idea of loading it up and setting off. In that kind of use, your hands are the most exposed part — branches, loose stones, and the stationary fall that happens to everyone when the motorcycle is loaded. The stock handguards are plastic and have no internal structure: they shield you from the wind, but in a fall they bend together with the lever. Two-point mounting does a different job: the aluminum bar forms a cage around your hand and transfers the impact to the structure. A thousand kilometers from home, that is the difference between carrying on and looking for a workshop. The single-point configuration, the other option in the range, is specified by the manufacturer only for protection from wind and weather.

Materials and construction

The structure is made of heat-treated aluminum, a process the manufacturer uses to increase strength and impact absorption capacity. The design is wraparound: it starts at the straight section of the handlebar, curves around the hand, and closes at the end. The clamp and bar curve are calculated around the Rally's dimensions.

Installation

Mounts to the original handlebar, with no drilling or motorcycle modifications. The stock plastic handguards must be removed, as must the original handlebar weights: the structure anchors precisely at the handlebar ends, and the supplied weights are used in their place.

Before fully tightening, check that the throttle, front brake, clutch, and engine stop switch operate freely and that the steering turns from lock to lock without interfering with the fairing. Check the tightening again after the first 50 km, and after every fall. The complete procedure and warnings are provided in the official instructions INS-BHG-093-NP, attached to this product page in the Manufacturer documents section.

What you will find in the package

  • Two heat-treated aluminum bars
  • Clamps for the straight section of the handlebar
  • Complete mounting hardware
  • Handlebar weights

What is NOT included

  • Protective plastics. They must be selected and ordered separately from the JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON series. EGO plastics are not compatible with this structure.
  • LED lights and other accessories in the range, which remain separate products.

Why choose Barkbusters

Barkbusters is a Rideworx Pty Ltd brand, an Australian company that has designed and produced motorcycle handguards since 1984. The catalog distinguishes between the CRF300L and CRF300 Rally with two different codes even though the two motorcycles are closely related: this is the level of detail that distinguishes a kit designed for a specific motorcycle from an adaptable accessory.

Why buy it from Endurrad

Endurrad supplies accessories for touring, adventure, and enduro motorcycles: compatibility verified against the manufacturer's documentation, official instructions attached to the product page, and assistance before purchase if your model is unclear. Free shipping in Italy on orders over €100 and in Europe on orders over €250, returns within 14 days, 1-year warranty. See the full Barkbusters range.

Why choose it
  • Protezione dagli impatti dichiarata.
  • Quattro plastiche compatibili. JET, VPS, STORM e CARBON, intercambiabili negli anni sulla stessa struttura.
  • Prodotto in Australia.
Who is it recommended for

Assembly and documents

  4. Fissa la barra in alluminio all estremità del manubrio e al morsetto, poi portala in posizione.

The Rally has its own code, and the included counterweights

  • Real difference from the CRF300L’s BHG-091: the bar-end weights are included here.
Structure only, including counterweights

Structure only, including counterweights

What you see is the complete kit: two heat-treated aluminum bars, the clamps, the hardware, and the handlebar weights. The protective plastics are a separate item, to be chosen from JET, VPS, STORM, and CARBON.

The first point: the end of the handlebar

The first point: the end of the handlebar

The bar anchors inside the end of the handlebar, replacing the original bar-end weight. Replacement weights are included in the kit: this is a tangible difference compared with the CRF300L part number, for which the manufacturer does not list them.

The second point: the clamp on the handlebar

The second point: the clamp on the handlebar

The clamp closes around the straight section of the handlebar, in front of the controls, and is shaped to coexist with the Rally’s fairing and windshield. It is the part that transforms the handguard into a cage around the hand.

On the CRF300 Rally, with VPS plastics

On the CRF300 Rally, with VPS plastics

In the official photo, the kit is fitted with VPS plastics, sold separately: an adjustable deflector with two positions, the most common choice for a motorcycle that covers serious mileage. JET, STORM, or CARBON can also be mounted on the same structure.

FAQs

For more information, see our FAQ of frequently asked questions.

Are the protective plastic parts included?

No. Here you purchase only the aluminum frame with the hardware and counterweights. The JET, VPS, STORM, or CARBON plastics are ordered separately, remain interchangeable on the same frame, and can be changed to a different color even years later.

I have a CRF300L, not the Rally: is this kit suitable?

No. For the CRF300L, the manufacturer specifies code BHG-091. The two motorcycles share the engine and chassis, but not the handlebar or the space around the controls, where the Rally also has fairing and a windscreen. It is the most common purchasing mistake with these two motorcycles.

Are the handlebar counterweights included?

Yes, for this product code, the manufacturer states that they are included. The motorcycle's standard bar-end weights must be removed because the structure attaches directly to the end of the handlebar, and the supplied ones are installed in their place.

My model is listed in the table, but the year isn’t: can I still install it?

The manufacturer lists the CRF300 Rally from 2021 onward, with no upper limit. Compatibility is not stated for the CRF250 Rally, which is the previous generation: send us the model and year, and we’ll verify it before you order.

Does it interfere with the Rally's windshield or fairing?

No: that is exactly why the Rally has its own code. The clamp and the bar's curvature are designed to work with the stock fairing and windscreen, which the CRF300L does not have.

What protective plastics can I mount on this structure?

Four series declared by the manufacturer: JET with a compact profile, VPS with an adjustable deflector, STORM with extended coverage, and CARBON in carbon fiber. On a touring motorcycle like the Rally, the VPS is the most common choice. EGO are not compatible.

Does the CRF300 Rally already come with handguards as standard - are they really necessary?

The original handguards are made of plastic and have no internal structure: they protect against wind and thin branches, but in a fall they bend together with the lever. This kit adds the aluminum bar anchored at two points, which is the part that absorbs the impact.

Does the handlebar need to be modified? What if it’s aftermarket?

No modification is required for the original handlebar: it installs using the supplied hardware. Barkbusters states compatibility only for motorcycles in their original factory configuration: with an aftermarket handlebar, the diameter and thicknesses may differ, so the mounting must be verified before purchase.

What is the difference between two attachment points and a single point?

These are two configurations that the manufacturer distinguishes and does not combine. The two attachment points, as in this kit, secure the bar both at the end of the handlebar and to the straight section, and are intended for impact protection. The single attachment point is intended only for protection from wind and the elements.

What exactly is included in the package?

The two heat-treated aluminum bars, clamps, complete hardware, and handlebar counterweights. There are no protective plastic parts: they are the item to pair with.

Why not a universal kit, which costs less?

Because on the Rally, the clamp must fit between cables, hoses, and fairing without interfering with levers and controls, and because the bar length is calculated for that handlebar. A universal kit remains the right choice when the handlebar is no longer the original one.

Are assembly instructions available?

Yes. The official Barkbusters INS-BHG-093-NP instructions are attached to this listing in the Manufacturer documents section, with the installation sequence and warnings.
