Description Barkbusters STM-002-NP universal single-point mounting kit, 25.4 mm handlebar

The STM-002-NP is the single mounting structure only with clamp, for 25.4 mm handlebars, i.e. one inch: the typical size for cruisers and custom bikes. L-brackets, U-bolt clamps and hardware. It is not a complete handguard.

The plastics are NOT included, and not all of them are suitable

For this kit, the manufacturer declares only two series compatible:

BCF-003 Real carbon fibre, not recommended for off-road use

JET and VPS are not compatible with clamp kits. If you need those, the solution is a kit that anchors to the end of the handlebar, such as the STM-005-NP or STM-007-NP.

Single-point: protects against the elements, not impacts

Barkbusters states that single-point products are designed solely for protection against the elements. On a cruiser, that is almost always what you are looking for: protection from wind and cold on long rides.

The advantage of the clamp on a custom bike

The mounting works only on the straight section: the end of the handlebar is not touched. Original bar-end weights, often chromed and visible on these bikes, stay in place, and the grips do not need to be cut or opened.

However, you need a straight, unobstructed section of handlebar inward from the controls to accommodate the clamp: on a handlebar crowded with controls and accessories, it is worth checking this beforehand.

Who is it recommended for

A chi ha una cruiser o una custom con manubrio da un pollice e vuole riparo dal vento e dal freddo nelle percorrenze lunghe.

A chi ha già delle plastiche STORM o CARBON e gli serve solo la struttura per montarle.

Non è la scelta giusta per chi cerca protezione della leva in caduta, né per chi vuole montare plastiche JET o VPS: quelle richiedono un attacco diverso.

Assembly and documents

Le istruzioni ufficiali INS-STM-002-01 sono allegate a questa scheda.

  1. Verifica con un calibro che la sezione dritta del manubrio sia da 25,4 mm e che ci sia spazio sgombro verso l interno rispetto al blocchetto comandi.
  2. Monta il morsetto con il suo cavallotto sulla sezione dritta, senza serrare.
  3. Fissa la staffa a L al morsetto. Le staffe sono marcate destra e sinistra.
  4. Monta la plastica che hai scelto, STORM o CARBON, seguendo le istruzioni della serie corrispondente.
  5. Porta il paramano in posizione e serra.
  6. Controlla il funzionamento di gas, freno anteriore, frizione e interruttore di arresto prima di partire, poi ricontrolla il serraggio dopo i primi 50 km.

25.4 mm is one inch: the diameter used to measure almost all cruiser and custom handlebars. Check it with calipers on the straight section. If yours is 22 mm, the correct code is STM-001-NP.

The clamp works on the straight section and leaves the end of the handlebar clear. On custom bikes, where the bar-end weights are often chrome-plated and form part of the bike's design, that's exactly what's needed: the handguard can be added without removing anything.

Are the protective plastic parts included?

No. The STM-002-NP is the mounting hardware only: brackets, clamps, and fasteners. The plastic components are purchased separately.

What plastics can I install on it?

Only two series are listed by the manufacturer on the code's official page: the STORM, with extended coverage, and the CARBON, made of fiber.

I read that it was also compatible with JET and VPS: is that true?

No, and it is a circulating error. The official Barkbusters page for this code states that only the STORM and CARBON are compatible. The longer list, including JET and VPS, applies to the kits that anchor at the handlebar ends, namely STM-005-NP and STM-007-NP, and to two-point kits.

How can I tell if my handlebar is 25.4 mm?

25.4 mm is one inch, the typical size for cruiser and custom motorcycle handlebars. Measure it with calipers on the straight section where the clamp would go. If the diameter is 22 mm, you need the STM-001-NP instead.

Does it protect the lever in a fall?

No. Barkbusters specifies that single-point products are designed only for protection from the elements. For lever protection in a fall, two-point kits are required.

Should I remove the bar ends or cut off the grips?

No, and that’s the practical advantage of the clamp: the end of the handlebar remains free, so the original bar-end weights and grips stay in place. On a cruiser, where the bar-end weights are often chrome and visible, that’s no small detail.

How much free space is needed on the handlebar?

A straight, unobstructed section of handlebar is needed toward the inside of the controls to accommodate the clamp. For this item, the manufacturer does not specify an exact measurement; for the 22 mm version, it indicates 18 mm. If your handlebar is crowded, send us a photo before ordering.

What’s the difference compared with the complete STM-002?

Only the plastic parts. The complete STM-002 also includes the black STORM plastic parts; this is the same frame without them.

My handlebar is 22 mm: is that suitable?

No, for the 22 mm straight handlebar, you need the STM-001-NP. The clamps are sized according to the diameter and are not interchangeable.

Is the specific code for my motorcycle required?

No. It has a universal mount: what matters is the handlebar diameter, not the motorcycle's make, model, or year.

What will I find in the package?

The two right and left L brackets, the two clamp and U-bolt sets for a 25.4 mm handlebar, the hardware and washers. No protective plastic.

Do I need to recheck the tightening after installation?

Yes. Barkbusters asks you to check the tightness of all screws again after the first 50 km and recommends using a medium-strength threadlocker on all fasteners.
