The manual’s parts list includes four items: the left indicator (1), the right indicator (2), two 270 mm-long, 3.5 mm-diameter extension cables (3), and two alcohol wipes (4), one for each side, used to degrease the surface before bonding.

The only thing you need to get is an 8.5 mm drill bit. Everything else, including the manual in eight languages, is in the box.

On the R 1300 GS, the front turn signals are integrated into the headlight assembly rather than mounted on a separate stalk, as on many other motorcycles. LOBOO produces two distinct kits specifically for this reason: CZXD081 is intended for installation in the standard turn-signal positions, while this CZXD131 is the version specifically designed for the new GS’s architecture.

The manual also explains how it does not interfere with anything: the turn-signal wires connect to the motorcycle’s original turn-signal connector, not to a separate circuit. The standard turn signals therefore continue to work, while the ones on the handguards flash together with them using the same control.

The manual marks with the letter A the point where the handguard should be drilled, and with the letter B the groove already made in the handguard body through which the cable will run. Use an 8.5 mm drill bit and feed the turn signal cable from the front side inward.

This is the part of the job to do carefully: use the position shown in the drawing, and the hole will remain even if you remove the turn signals in the future. The modification concerns the handguard, not the motorcycle.

The letter C indicates the mounting position on the lower edge of the handguard. Clean the area with the provided alcohol wipe, since the adhesive will not hold on a dusty or greasy surface, remove the protective film, align the module, and press firmly.

The manufacturer asks you to wait 24 hours before considering the adhesion permanent. It is worth observing this period: it is the step that determines whether the turn signal will stay in place.

The letter D follows the cable’s route inside the handguard, pressed into the designated grooves; the letter E is the terminal that plugs into the motorcycle’s original indicator connector. The connectors have vibration-damping silicone on both sides, and the manual instructs you to observe the orientation when plugging them in.

This is where it becomes clear why a version dedicated to the R 1300 GS exists: it does not create a new circuit; it connects to the one the motorcycle already has.

The module sits in the lower edge of the handguard and remains flush with the profile: it does not protrude, has no visible brackets, and adds nothing that could snag or break in a sideways fall.

This is also why these indicators exist only for LOBOO handguards: the mounting recess is built into the handguard body, and without it there is no way to install them. Compatible handguards are the LOBOO aluminum handguards for BMW GS, which must be purchased separately.

Once installation is complete, the module is recessed into the handguard body, and the amber light emerges from the lower edge. There is no protruding housing, exposed bracket, or anything that could snag or break in a sideways fall.

Position matters more than it may seem: an indicator integrated into the handguard sits farther out and higher than one mounted on the stem, so it enters the field of view of someone riding alongside you in a line sooner.

With the indicator on, the four amber LEDs form a line along the edge of the handguard, at hand level. It is the motorcycle’s outermost point after the mirrors, and in traffic it is the first thing that enters the field of vision of someone beside you.

A stalk-mounted indicator, on the other hand, sits behind the handlebar line, often obscured by the rider’s leg or the luggage. The difference is not light output but position, and that is what matters when you change lanes.
