Description LOBOO CHG581 Crash Bar for Ducati DesertX | 304 stainless steel, Ø 25 mm, black or silver

The CHG581 is LOBOO’s crash bar for the Ducati DesertX from 2023 onward, made of 304 stainless steel with a Ø 25 mm tube and 2 mm wall thickness. It is not a pair of independent bars: the manual lists four structural components—the left bar, right bar, connecting rod, and joining bracket—which together form a closed structure around the engine.

On a motorcycle built to leave the asphalt, a stationary fall or slow-speed slide is part of normal use, and the DesertX exposes its fairings, radiator, and engine sides precisely where they are likely to make first contact. The bar sits between them, keeping the motorcycle elevated.

At the top, LOBOO provides mounting points for auxiliary lights, which can be seen in the manufacturer’s images; however, the lights and their brackets are not included and must be purchased separately.

It is available in two finishes that differ only in appearance: sandblasted and electropolished silver, with the steel exposed, or matte black electrostatic coating. The codes are CHG581SL and CHG581BK; the material, dimensions, and mounting points are identical.

Installation uses the existing frame mounting points, with no cutting or drilling: remove the original screws, clips, and decorative plate indicated in the manual, then reinstall everything using the supplied hardware. The manual lists 19 items and specifies different torque settings for each size: 20 N·m for the M8 bolts, 12 N·m for the M6×30, and 10 N·m for the M6×25, with threadlocker included. It can be downloaded from this product page.

A crash bar reduces damage from a fall but does not eliminate it: LOBOO does not publish load tests for this code, so we do not claim impact-resistance thresholds, and it does not state the weight either. Endurrad is a retailer, not the manufacturer.

Why choose it
  • Designed for real use:On an off-road motorcycle, falling from a standstill or at low speed is part of the experience.
  • Keeps the bike elevated:Absorbs impact instead of fairings, radiator, and side components.
  • Perimeter protection:Complements specific point protections.
  • Dedicated to the model:Ducati Desert X from 2023.
Who is it recommended for

It is useful if you take your Desert X off-road, tackle dirt roads and uneven terrain, or park on soft ground where a side stand is always a possibility.

Recommended accessory: LOBOO bumper pads for 25 mm tubes protect the bar from scratches. In the event of a fall, the bumper pad will be marked, not the tube, and can be replaced for just a few euros.

Documents and manufacturer

Assembly and Notes

  • Check the tightness after the first 100-200 km and periodically with off-road use.
  • After an impact, check that the bar is not deformed and does not rest on fairings, radiator, or engine.
  • It is not an approved safety device and does not replace careful driving.
  • Check model and year before purchasing.

How does it work, in detail?

Four elements, not two loose bars

Four elements, not two loose bars

The manual lists the 581 Left crash bar, 581 Right crash bar, one connecting tie rod, and one joining bracket. The tie rod runs under the radiator and connects the two sides, while the bracket links them at the top: together, they form a closed structure rather than two guards working separately.

Install without drilling, but remove the plate first

Install without drilling, but remove the plate first

Attachment is made to the points already present on the frame: no cutting, drilling, or welding. However, the manual requires removing the original screws, clips, and decorative plate in the area above the fork first; they are then put back in place.

It is an extra step compared with other crash bars, but everything remains reversible: once the bar is removed, the DesertX returns exactly to how it was.

Add the spotlights at the designated points

Add the spotlights at the designated points

On the upper part of the LOBOO structure, there are mounting points for auxiliary spotlights: the manufacturer's images show two spotlights mounted on either side of the radiator, at the right height to illuminate without dazzling oncoming traffic.

The spotlights and their brackets are not included. The exact hole diameter is not published: if you have already chosen yours, write to us and we will verify the measurement on the part before you place your order.

Choose stainless steel if the motorcycle stays outdoors

Choose stainless steel if the motorcycle stays outdoors

304 stainless steel with a Ø 25 mm tube and a 2 mm wall thickness. The material is the same beneath and above the surface treatment, so a scratch that removes the finish exposes steel, not iron ready to rust.

It matters if you ride the DesertX year-round, on winter road salt, or after water crossings.

Choose between silver and black

Choose between silver and black

The silver finish is sandblasted and electrolyzed, leaving the steel exposed to match the frame and rims of the white DesertX. The black finish has a matte powder coating and blends in with the engine for a more discreet setup.

It only changes the appearance: the material, dimensions, mounting points, and package contents are identical.

See how it looks on the motorcycle

See how it looks on the motorcycle

The bar runs along the side of the tank and descends in front of the engine, following the fairing’s profile without protruding beyond the motorcycle’s outline. It is barely noticeable when stationary; in a fall, it is the first thing to make contact.

See what it really covers

See what it really covers

The brace closes off the front of the radiator, with the bars rising along the fairings and descending beside the engine. On the DesertX, these are the three areas that make contact first when the bike goes down—and also the most expensive ones to repair.

Count on the dedicated bushings and nuts

Count on the dedicated bushings and nuts

At the mounting points, the kit uses nylon bushings that prevent direct steel-to-frame contact, along with dedicated conical aluminum nuts instead of generic nuts. These are details you notice only during installation, but they are what distinguish a purpose-designed kit from an adapted one.

Match the right pairs—there are three here

Match the right pairs—there are three here

The manual specifies three different values: 20 N·m for the M8 screws, 12 N·m for the M6×30, and 10 N·m for the M6×25. This is not a detail to ignore, because the M6 screws are used at more delicate points.

Everything is installed, the supplied threadlocker is applied, and only at the end are the screws tightened in sequence. A torque wrench is required, and LOBOO recommends periodically rechecking the tightening.

What’s in the box?

What’s in the box?

The manual’s parts list contains 19 items: the four structural components, two M8×35 screws, two M8×20 screws, two M8×25 screws, one M6×30 screw, two M6×25 screws, six M8 washers and three M6 washers, two M6 self-locking nuts, two aluminum conical nuts, two nylon bushings, three spacers of different sizes, two cable ties, and threadlocker.

Auxiliary lights, light brackets, panniers, and subframes visible in the manufacturer’s images are not included.

Add inflatable bags to your crash bars

Add inflatable bags to your crash bars

The bars you’re about to install do more than just protect: they’re already the ready-made mounting points for LOBOO Wanderer inflatable bags. A pair of 6-liter bags, each waterproof to IPX7, with keyed anti-theft locks and a stated capacity of 300 kg per inflated bag.

They inflate when you set off and deflate when you return: carry what you need without installing frames or leaving permanent bulk along the side of the motorcycle. Make use of the Ø 25 mm tube you already have and go fully equipped.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

Which motorcycles is it compatible with?

The LOBOO assembly manual and official price list specify DUCATI DESERT X (2023-), meaning from 2023 onward with no upper limit. However, the labeled product images show a closed range, 2023–2025. We publish the manual version, but for newer model years and the Rally version, please contact us before ordering.

How many pieces does it consist of?

Made up of four structural elements: the left bar, the right bar, a connecting brace that runs in front of the radiator, and a connecting bracket that joins the two sides at the top. They are not two independent guards, but a closed structure.

Do I need to drill or modify the motorcycle?

No cutting, drilling, or welding: it attaches to the points already present on the frame. However, the manual does require removing the original screws, clips, and decorative plate in the area above the fork, which are then reinstalled. Once the crash bar is removed, the motorcycle returns exactly to its original condition.

Can I mount auxiliary spotlights on it?

Yes: there are pre-made mounting points on the upper section, so universal clamps tightened around the tube are not needed. The manufacturer's images show two spotlights mounted on the sides of the radiator.

Spotlights and mounting brackets are not included. The exact hole diameter has not been published; if you have already chosen your spotlights, write to us and we will verify the measurement on the part before you place your order.

What is included in the package?

The manual’s parts list includes 19 items: the four structural elements, two M8×35 screws, two M8×20 screws, two M8×25 screws, one M6×30 screw, two M6×25 screws, six M8 washers and three M6 washers, two M6 self-locking nuts, two conical aluminum nuts, two nylon bushings, three spacers, two cable ties, and threadlocker.

Spotlights, brackets, cases, and small frames visible in the manufacturer’s images are not included.

Do you need a torque wrench?

Yes, and here more than anywhere else: the manual specifies three different torque values, 20 N·m for the M8 bolts, 12 N·m for the M6×30 bolts, and 10 N·m for the M6×25 bolts. You can't tell them apart by feel, and the M6 bolts are used in more delicate areas. Threadlocker is included and should be applied before final tightening.

What material is it made of?

304 stainless steel, with a Ø 25 mm tube and a 2 mm wall thickness. It’s the same material beneath and above the finish, so when the surface treatment wears away, rust doesn’t start as it would on a painted tube.

What are nylon bushings used for?

They are placed at the contact points between the structure and the frame, preventing direct steel-to-steel contact. Together with the aluminum conical nuts, they are part of the original equipment and are listed in the manual's parts list.

Is the bar bumper also needed?

Recommended. In a scrape, the bumper takes the damage, not the bar: it can be replaced for a few euros instead of ending up with a scratched bar. LOBOO bumpers for 25 mm tubing are available on a separate page.

What’s the difference between silver and black?

Only the surface treatment differs. The silver finish is sandblasted and electropolished, leaving the steel exposed; the black finish has a matte powder coating. Beneath the finish, the material is the same 304 stainless steel, and the dimensions, fittings, and package contents are identical.

Can I mount the side panniers together with the crash bar?

In the manufacturer’s images, the DesertX has crash bars and pannier racks fitted together because they protect different areas of the motorcycle. The racks are not included with this item: LOBOO produces them separately under code JP581B.

If you already have racks from other brands, contact us before ordering and we’ll check for any interference.

How much does it weigh?

LOBOO does not state the weight of this code in either the manual or the price list, and we prefer not to publish an estimate. If you need this information, contact us: we will weigh it in the warehouse and tell you the actual value.

How much weight can it withstand in the event of a fall?

A crash bar reduces the damage from a fall; it does not eliminate it. LOBOO does not publish load tests for this code, so we do not state impact-resistance thresholds: that would be an invented number. After an impact, check that the structure is not deformed and is not resting against the fairings, radiator, or engine.

Is the product covered by a warranty, and can I return it?

Yes: all LOBOO products sold by Endurrad are covered by the 24-month statutory conformity warranty for consumers provided under Italian law, and in the event of a defect, we handle the claim with the manufacturer.

You also have the right to return the product within 14 days of receiving the last item in your order: the product must be intact and in its original packaging.
