Description KTM 1290, 1190, 1090 and 790 Adventure accessory control unit CANsmart

Code DNLWHS13000 — DENALI code DNL.WHS.13000

The control unit uses your KTM's CANbus to control up to four accessories from the original handlebar buttons, without adding relays or cutting into the factory wiring.

On these motorcycles, it does one more thing: on the 1190 and 1290, it unlocks the additional ABS modes and the poor-fuel mode, features that KTM sells separately with a dedicated dongle. On the 1050 and 1090 Adventure, the original dongle is still required.

Compatible motorcycles: KTM 1050 Adventure 2015–2017, 1090 Adventure 2017–2019, 1190 Adventure, all 1290 models through 2020, including the Super Duke, Super Duke GT and R, and the 790 Duke and 790 Adventure 2018–2020.

On the 790 models, two functions are unavailable: auxiliary brake light control and using the auxiliary lights as turn signals. For the 890 models and 1290 models from 2021 onward, code DNLWHS21700 is required.

Who is it recommended for

A chi ha una KTM 1050, 1090, 1190, una 1290 fino al 2020 o una 790. Sulle 1190 e 1290 il valore aggiunto è doppio, perché la centralina copre anche le funzioni del dongle KTM. Sulle 1050 e 1090 Adventure il dongle originale resta invece necessario.

Sulle 790 due funzioni non sono disponibili: il controllo della luce freno ausiliaria e l'uso dei faretti come indicatori di direzione. Se la tua KTM è una 890 o una 1290 dal 2021, ti serve il codice DNLWHS21700.

La centralina non modifica l'impianto originale della moto: si innesta sui connettori di serie e può essere rimossa riportando la moto allo stato di fabbrica. Ogni circuito ha un fusibile elettronico impostabile dal software.

Gli accessori collegati restano soggetti alle regole del codice della strada che li riguardano: i fari supplementari vanno montati in numero pari e simmetrici, il clacson deve rispettare i limiti previsti.

Four accessories controlled by the Wonder Wheel

The control unit connects to the motorcycle’s CAN bus and provides four circuits for accessories. From then on, auxiliary lights, the horn, and the brake light can be switched on, switched off, and adjusted using the BMW Wonder Wheel, with no additional switches on the handlebar and no loose relays under the seat.

It plugs into the motorcycle’s original connectors: nothing needs to be cut or drilled, and no relays need to be added. The control unit comes preconfigured for two sets of DENALI lights, a SoundBomb horn, and the B6 brake light, so in most cases it’s simply a matter of installing it and using it.

By connecting the control unit to the computer with the included micro USB cable, the CANsmart Accessory Manager software opens up dozens of settings: flashing with the high beams, strobing with the horn, automatic shutoff with the turn signals, an electronic fuse for each circuit, five-level heated clothing control, and activation only when the engine is running.

Is it suitable for my KTM?

Fits the 1050 Adventure 2015–2017, 1090 Adventure 2017–2019, 1190 Adventure, all 1290 models up to and including 2020, including the Super Duke, Super Duke GT and R, and the 790 Duke and Adventure 2018–2020. For the 890 models and the 1290 models from 2021 onward, use code DNLWHS21700.

What’s the difference between GEN I and GEN II?

This is the GEN II, with more available current and more settings. DENALI stopped developing new features for GEN I devices in February 2024: if you find a cheaper GEN I controller out there, be aware that it no longer receives updates.

Do you need to know how to work on the electrical system?

No. The control unit plugs into the motorcycle’s original connectors: nothing needs to be cut or drilled. The part requiring the most attention is reaching the connection point, which is located differently on each model: the official DENALI manual shows it step by step.

Can I connect non-DENALI accessories to it?

Yes. The four circuits come preconfigured for DENALI accessories, but each can be reconfigured through the software and supports 10 A continuously: you can connect a USB socket, GPS, dashcam, heated grips, or any other accessory within that limit.

Premium upgrade on my BMW GS

I installed the JADO S6 on my BMW GS (non-"dedicated" version), and although I don't use the BMW base, the display and features are still top notch.
