Description Waterproof Engine Guard Bags for 22-28 mm Crash Bars, 6 L – Wanderer Pair

Pair of waterproof engine guard bags, 6 liters each, to be attached to the motorcycle's crash bars: 12 liters in total, distributed across both sides, in the space between the bar and fairing that usually goes unused. These are the bags from the Wanderer series, model BHGB11T, with a roll-top closure and an IPX6 rating declared by LOBOO.

Will they fit your motorcycle? They mount on crash bars with tubes 22 to 28 mm in diameter. Attachment uses adjustable straps, so no model-specific kit is needed: you need crash bars already installed and clear space behind the bar, with no cables, brake lines, or radiator in contact. Crash bars are not included: if you don't have them yet, start with the selection of crash bars and engine guard bars.

What you receive. Two bags and two PP U-frames, as listed in the official manual. The fabric is a composite of 70% TPU and 30% nylon with 840D, 0.6 mm mesh; there is a PP support plate on the back, high-visibility reflective strips on the sides, and the buckles are Duraflex. Each bag has a handle for carrying it by hand when you remove it from the motorcycle.

How to install them. Insert the U-frame into the bag, load your items, roll the edge down three times, and close the buckles. Then pass the upper strap over the bar's horizontal tube and wrap the lower straps around the tube, adjusting their length and securing them with the buckle. The manual requires neither screws nor tools.

Roll-top or inflatable? Compared with the Wanderer BHGB05T inflatable bags, these have no inflation system, waterproof zipper, or anti-theft system: the PP frame maintains their shape, the roll-top provides the seal, and the diameter range is 22 to 28 mm, while the inflatable bags fit only 25 mm tubes. We explain how the inflatable bags work in the guide to inflatable engine guard bags; all alternatives are in the engine guard and crash bar bags collection.

They are designed for riders traveling on an adventure or touring motorcycle who want tools, rain gear, and spare gloves close at hand, without opening the luggage cases at every stop.

Why choose it
  • They recover dead space:the triangle between the crash bar and the fairing is empty on every adventure bike. Six liters per side without widening the bike or raising the center of gravity.
  • The weight stays low:it's the best position for tools and spare parts, the one the bike feels the least.
  • They don't force you to open your panniers:rain gear, spare gloves, and documents remain accessible without having to unpack half your luggage at the gas station.
  • Roll-top instead of zipper:on a bag exposed to mud and salt, the zipper is the first point to fail. Here, there isn't one.
  • No measurements to take:unlike the inflatable version BHGB05T, which is restricted to 25 mm tubes, these fit on any bar.
Who is it recommended for

They are useful if:

  • You already have crash bars installed and that space remains unused
  • You want to keep tools, rain gear, and documents handy without opening your panniers
  • You're looking for something that doesn't require you to measure the bar's diameter
  • You prefer a roll-top closure to a zipper, for winter use or on salted roads

They are not useful if you don't have crash bars: without bars, there's nothing to attach them to. And if you need a system with primary anti-theft and a watertight zipper, the inflatable BHGB05T version is the right product, provided your bar is 25mm.

Documents and manufacturer

Use and warnings

  • Position the bag where it does not touch cables, brake lines, levers, or hot parts. On adventure bikes with side radiators, ensure there is still airflow.
  • Do not exceed the load the motorcycle manufacturer indicates for the crash bars: they are designed for protection, not as load supports.
  • Recheck the tightening of the straps after the first few kilometers and every time you load the bag differently.
  • IPX6 indicates resistance to powerful water jets, not immersion. The roll-top closure must be rolled at least three times for effective sealing.
  • The bag is not a safety device and does not alter the protective capacity of the crash bar. In case of a fall, it should be inspected before reuse.

How does it work in detail

The space you’ve already paid for and aren’t using

The space you’ve already paid for and aren’t using

Between the crash bar and the fairing, many adventure bikes have an empty space. You've already bought the bars and carry them around anyway: these bags turn that space into twelve useful liters, six per side.

Position matters more than capacity. It's one of the lowest places where you can put weight: the bike feels tools and spare parts down there less, while the same kilos in the top case make themselves felt on the highway.

And they remain within the area already occupied by the bars.

Why does the roll-top hit the hinge here?

Why does the roll-top hit the hinge here?

A bag attached to the crash bar sits in the part of the motorcycle that takes the most mud, salt, and debris from the front wheel. On a zipper, even a waterproof one, that is the road to seizure: first it becomes stiff, then you need both hands to open it, and eventually it no longer keeps water out.

The roll-top has nothing to seize. Roll the edge three times and fasten the two buckles: the seal comes from folding the fabric, not from a mechanism.

The fabric is a 0.6 mm, 840D mesh TPU composite, and LOBOO claims an IPX6 rating. Be careful, though: water gets in with just one roll. Three rolls are not a recommendation; they are the condition for it to work.

The PP plate: the reason they don’t wobble

The PP plate: the reason they don’t wobble

The classic flaw of soft crash-bar bags is that they rotate around the tube: you tighten them, they seem secure, then fifty kilometers later you find them crooked and resting against the radiator.

Here, the back has a rigid PP plate embedded in the fabric, plus a removable U-shaped frame inside. The bag rests on the bar over a broad surface rather than at a single point, and the straps work in tension instead of torsion.

The other effect is aesthetic but not insignificant: when the bag is empty, it retains its shape instead of sagging against the fairing.

22 to 28 mm bars, tool-free installation

22 to 28 mm bars, tool-free installation

Most crash bar accessories require a precise tube size, and getting it wrong means dealing with a return. Here, the fastening uses straps that wrap around the bar, so it fits the entire 22–28 mm diameter range: the standard 25 mm size as well as bars that are thinner or thicker than average.

Installation takes four steps per bag and requires no tools: choose the position, pass the upper strap behind the tube and through the channel on the back, repeat with the lower straps, then pull and adjust. It comes off in a minute when you need the motorcycle to look clean.

The only check we ask you to make is for clearance: make sure there are no cables, brake lines, or the radiator touching the back of either bar. On some motorcycles, the exhaust side is tighter than the other.

Duraflex buckles and reflective straps: the details you use every day

Duraflex buckles and reflective straps: the details you use every day

On a bag you open at every stop, the buckles are the components that do the most work. LOBOO uses Duraflex buckles both on the roll-top closure and on the mounting straps.

The straps have a locking buckle: adjust the length around your bar and lock it in place, so the bag stays in the selected position.

There are high-visibility reflective strips on the sides of the front panel. At night, the crash bar area is one of the darkest parts of the motorcycle: the strips make it visible in the headlights of other vehicles.

Six construction points in a rigid, compact bag

Six construction points in a rigid, compact bag

LOBOO sums up the Wanderer BHGB11T bag in six features, each addressing a specific problem for those who travel with bags on racks.

Waterproof TPU fabric and Duraflex buckles ensure protection and closure; reflective strips improve visibility; the capacity is designed for everyday essentials, not main luggage.

Rounding it out are quick top access by unrolling the roll-top and the PP support plate, which keeps the bag rigid and spacious even when it is nearly empty.

These or the BHGB05T inflatables?

These or the BHGB05T inflatables?

LOBOO offers two versions of the Wanderer bag, both with a capacity of 6 liters, made of 70% TPU and 30% nylon, with Duraflex buckles and reflective strips. The choice is simpler than it seems.

If your crash bar isn't 25 mm, the choice is already made: the inflatable one only fits that diameter, while these fit bars from 22 to 28 mm.

If it's 25 mm, the difference lies in the construction. The BHGB05T retains its shape with an inflation system and adds a waterproof zipper, IPX7 protection, and a primary anti-theft system. These have neither an air chamber nor a zipper: the PP plate maintains their shape, the roll-top closure provides the seal, they have IPX6 protection, and there is no anti-theft system.

In a nutshell: choose the inflatable one if you want a zipper and anti-theft protection; choose these if you want a closure without mechanisms and flexibility regarding the bar diameter.

FAQs

For more information, please see our FAQ.

Will they fit my crash bars? Do I need to measure the tube?

They fit crash bars with a diameter of 22 to 28 mm. If you don't know the size of your bars, it's best to check it with calipers before purchasing: this is the only dimensional detail you need to verify. They attach with adjustable straps, so you don't need a kit dedicated to your motorcycle model. This is the main difference compared with the BHGB05T inflatable version, which fits only 25 mm bars.

The other thing to check is that there is clear space behind the bar, with no cables, brake lines, or radiator in contact with it.

What's in the package?

Two 6-liter bags and two PP U-shaped frames, one for each bag: this is the parts list from the official LOBOO manual. The fastening straps with Duraflex buckles are already sewn onto the bags, and the PP support plate is integrated into the back.

Crash bars are not included: the bags attach to bars already mounted on the motorcycle.

How do they mount on the crash bar? Do I need any tools?

No, the manual does not require screws or tools. The sequence is: insert the U-shaped frame into the bag, load the items, roll the edge three times, and close the buckles.

Then place the bag against the bar from behind, pass the upper strap over the horizontal tube, and wrap the lower straps around the tube, adjusting the length and securing it with the buckle. Check the tightness again after the first few kilometers.

Can they be mounted on the upper bars as well as the lower ones?

Yes, the strap mounting does not distinguish between a high bar and a low bar: what matters is that the tube is between 22 and 28 mm and that there is clearance behind it. However, the weight sits higher on upper bars, and this is felt more when cornering on a loaded motorcycle.

The recommendation is to keep heavy items low and use the higher position, if available, for light, bulky items.

Is this one better, or the inflatable BHGB05T?

It depends on two things. If your crash bar isn’t 25 mm, the choice is already made: the BHGB05T won’t fit, but this one will, because it fits bars from 22 to 28 mm.

If it is 25 mm, you can consider both options. According to LOBOO’s comparison table, the inflatable one has an inflation system, a waterproof zipper, IPX7 protection, and a primary anti-theft system, and it holds its shape with the air chamber. This one uses a roll-top closure, which doesn’t lock but doesn’t have a zipper exposed to mud and salt, and it holds its shape with the frame and PP plate. The volume is the same: 6 liters per bag.

In short: choose the inflatable one if you want a zipper and anti-theft protection; choose this one if you prefer a closure without mechanisms and flexibility regarding the bar diameter.

Does IPX6 mean I can leave my phone out in the rain?

IPX6 means resistance to powerful water jets, which in real-world use covers heavy rain and being splashed by trucks while overtaking them on wet roads. It does not mean immersion. However, water resistance also depends on you: the roll-top must be rolled at least three times before fastening the buckles. With only one roll, water can get in, and this is the most common mistake with this type of bag.

How much does it really hold—in six liters?

Six liters is about the size of a small gym bag. In practice, it can hold a puncture repair kit, a set of wrenches, a rolled-up rain jacket, and spare gloves. Or two bottles of water and something to eat.

It won’t fit a helmet or a camera with the lens attached: its dimensions are 25 × 12 × 30 cm, so the usable thickness is just over ten centimeters. It’s designed for things you want within easy reach, not for your main luggage.

Do you sell them individually or only in pairs?

LOBOO packages them as a pair, one for each side, so they arrive as two 6-liter bags, for a total capacity of 12 liters. There is no single-bag package in the catalog.

Nothing prevents you from mounting just one if you only need storage space on one side, but for load balance, it is best to use both.

Are they also suitable if I already have the side cases installed?

Yes, and in fact that’s the most common use: the panniers are behind, level with the passenger, while these are in front on the bars, in an area the panniers don’t occupy. They don’t touch.

That’s exactly the idea: keep the things you need during the day out of the panniers, so you don’t have to open the main luggage at every stop.

Can it be locked? Can I leave it on the motorcycle in the city?

No, the roll-top closure does not lock. Anyone can open it, and the straps can be unclipped by hand. We prefer to tell you clearly: don't leave anything inside that you would regret losing when parking on the street.

If you need a basic deterrent, the BHGB05T inflatable model has a primary anti-theft system. It is still a fabric bag, not a lockable aluminum top case.

Do they bounce or move around when going fast?

If the straps are tightened properly, no. The key difference is the PP plate embedded in the back: it rests against the tube over a broad surface rather than at a single point, so the bag does not rotate around the bar.

The practical advice is to check the tightness again after the first few miles and whenever you change how you load it. The fabric settles a little during the first few uses.

Can I put heavy tools in it?

The bottom is the best place for weight, so yes, tools fit well there. But the limit isn’t set by the bag; it’s set by the crash bar.

Crash bars are designed to protect, not to carry loads, and each manufacturer specifies a limit. Check it in the owner’s manual or the bar’s documentation, and distribute the weight between both sides instead of loading everything on one side.

How much do they weigh, and how much weight can I load inside?

LOBOO does not state either the weight of an individual bag or a maximum load capacity, and we prefer to tell you that rather than estimate a figure.

In any case, the practical limit is set not by the bag but by the crash bar: engine guards are designed to provide protection, not carry loads, and the crash bar or motorcycle manufacturer specifies the limit to observe.

Can the PP frame be removed?

Yes, the internal U-shaped frame is removable: slide it out if you need a softer bag that can be filled right to the last centimeter, or if you want it to lie flat when you’re not using it.

The reinforcement plate on the back, however, is embedded in the fabric and stays in place: it’s what lets the bag rest against the bar over a broad surface and prevents it from rotating.

How do you clean them? Can they be machine-washed?

No. The LOBOO manual indicates cleaning the surface after each use with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap, without bleach, fabric softeners, or acidic or alkaline detergents. Do not use a washing machine, iron, dry-cleaning, or tumble dryer: let them air-dry, away from prolonged direct sunlight.

The manual also says not to use insect repellents on the surface and to avoid sharp objects, which may compromise waterproofing. If you do not use them for a long time, store them in a cool, dry place.
